I have a sample fla file, but I can't find where to edit the scripting in it. Basically there are 2 buttons, each one going to a different URL. I can't figure out where to change the URLs they go to. I've looked literally everywhere in flash.

View 1 RepliesI'm reletively new to flash, and am trying to modify a template and am running into a problem and I don't seem to know why Flash is acting so strange. I am going into a movie clip to edit the color of an item, and when I do so with a tint, it overrides any additional effects such as light, and text. The color appears almost as if it were just slapped on top of everything. When I edit the color in advanced mode, it is really a hit-or-miss to get the correct color, and will only modify when changing the offset RGB.
And also when doing this, the text gradually changes color, for example: there are 4 items in total that I want to edit the color of. Each item is a different colored box with text on the front (for a main Navigation of the website). --- The first item, the text will stay white. Gradually through the second and third items it starts to change, and by the fourth / last item, the text is completely blue. Is it possible for a portion of text to be connected somehow to an object within the animation in a movieclip? If so, is it possible to go inside and edit this? -the shape, animation, and text? Is there an easier way to change the color of an item inside a movie clip? I can supply additional information if needed.. files etc.
I have a movie clip called volumecontrolbackground_mc that has a gradient in it. on rollover I want it to change the color of the gradients and on roll out go back to the default values. Any pointers on how I would accomplish this? I have seen the methods where you create a new movie clip and fill it with a gradient but none where you modify a existing gradient.
View 1 RepliesI've created a graphic and have multiple instances of the graphic on the stage. I've recently decided to change the graphic to a movieClip. However, changing the original clip's type to movieClip doesn't apply the change to all instances that I've already placed on the stage; they're still all graphics.
The only way I've been able to fix it is by manually selecting each one and changing their instance behavior from 'graphic' to 'movieclip'. Is there a faster way to do this, be it a command or an actionscript code? Anything that doesn't require me manually changing each instance would be a huge time saver.
Whilst I did some flash YEARS ago, I am now needing to get back into it. And whilst I have a course booked, I need to do something now. I have downloaded a flash file with a mask from an image website. I want to double the size of the file, but the masking now only highlights part of the image.

I have a Flash file hosted at:

I have a web page that embeds that Flash file at:
http://www.mydomain.com/embed.html
The <embed> code for that SWF has the "allowScriptAccess" parameter set to "sameDomain". Currently, I cannot put links in "flash.swf" that change the location of the embedding page, because they are on different domains, and making a getURL() or ExternalInterface call won't be permissible.
Changing "allowScriptAccess" to "always" is not an option. Putting both files on the same domain is also not an option.
Policy files don't seem to be the solution (perhaps I'm coding them wrong?) and changing the "document.domain" of the embedding page doesn't seem to work either.
I am using Flash CS5 on an iMAC, running OSX 10.6. I created a file that uses a Combobox on the first frame, and I would like to connect the buttons to go to and stop/play on multiple labels.

View 28 RepliesI have completed a bunch of keyframes with 2 symbol on each moving around. Now I want to add another symbol that will be static. That is, at the same position in each keyframe.
How can I add the new symbol to 250 keyframes that are already set and already have 2 symbols in each?
I can see how to do it one by one... but there must be a better way than that. selecting a herd of keyframes and pasting in the new symbol, ends up only effecting which ever one has the play head.
I also realize I should have put this final symbol in at the start but too late now. So how can I insert a new symbol in 250 keyframes all at once?
I have 8 movie clips on my stage with 25 frames each. Now, I would like to extend tha length of each movie frame to 100. How can I do that? how to decrease the existing frames as well when required.

View 4 RepliesI have created a Flash-based image gallery using a template purchased from Activeden.net and have successfully published this on a dedicated html page that contains nothing but the SWF file. I would now like to learn how to add an SWF movie to an existing web page. In other words, the movie would run within a rectangular space in a position of my choice surrounded by loads of other stuff.
My first attempts to add a Flash movie to an ASP.NET aspx page were only partially successful. The movie runs within its allocated space but I can only see the bottom third. The rest is cut off by the upper edge of the rectangle (which is big enough to take the whole movie).
Recently, I found a great little Flash project that acts like a jukebox for external mp3 song files, and am using it on my website to play my song demos.I'm now trying to find if there is an existing solution like that for video. I just need some way to progressively download video files from my webspace when the thumbnail is clicked... and am now looking into some sort of Flash jukebox.
I've tried just embedding the video files into HTML, but they don't progressively download for some reason (even though they are saved as Progressive With Compressed Header). I've even tried using prettyPhoto (...a script that mimics a Lightbox like feature, where the whole page dims, and a floating window appears over your site, displaying any media, and allowing you to move back/forth through your list of media)..... works great, but again, not a progressive download, so you stare at a blank screen for a while.
Seems the only way it works is if I have the file on YouTube or some other site, then embed it or use the prettyPhoto app.So, can someone either tell me how to make the embedded file download (OT, but I figured I'd ask), or point at some existing Flash file that serves as a video jukebox, showing all media on a common window?
I have an .flv file I created and imported it into the Flash timeline and needed to use an Actionscript with it because I need it to loop when it's finished. I exported it to an .swf file but I can't find any way to use the "ClearOverPlayMute.swf" skin with it on my web page.
Flash doesn't export the swf file with any playback skins.
If I already have an existing movie, what is the best way to add a preloader to this movie?I have 1 frame with a few layers right now. Then, I have some movie clips on frame 1 Should I just move everything to frame 2? Does that throw anything out of sync? I am using labels in the movie clips that that I can use gotoAndPlay("label");
View 5 RepliesFlash Pro CS5 I have a plan view png made into a movieclip of a car which follows a motion guide changing direction as it travels. I select the MC in frame 1 and go to properties, filter section is currently empty and I select dropshadow from the filter choices, adjusting the angle and opacity. Looks good test movie and car runs without shadow after fr1. Methinks I need to apply it to the car in the last frame (no other keyframes between by the way), I select the car and then cannot see how to apply the filter that is now showing in the properties window. How does one apply an existing filter to a movieclip ?
Is this then what is needed to get the car to have the shadow cast north west throughout its journey ? Applying the filter to the MC at start and end of the tween ?

The index file is .php. Now I've got this little Flash animation that we want to run first, then when it's done go to his website. When I try to add it to the top of the index page all that happens is the site loads like in normally did but with the Flash movie at the top instead of being another page. What do we need to do to have it load on it's own first?
View 1 RepliesI've created a swf for a component live preview. The live preview appears to work ok when creating a new component, and setting the live preview in the component definition panel.
When I update an existing component definition (in a separate component library FLA) the live preview does not work. The strange thing is if I copy the entire (component FLA) library and paste it into a new FLA it works fine (although in doing so I receive a whole bunch of errors in the output window saying - Plugin tool script error in method ik_isIKContainer).
i'm using Flash CS3 on my Mac. I'm making a stop motion animation. I've already successfully imported some images, but when i've tried importing more, it replaces my last frame!! Is there something that i might of pressed??
View 3 RepliesMy company recently contracted an outside web developer to create our new website. I have some experience with Flash, but not beyond basic timeline controls. I've been given the task to update the flash element that has a horizontal carousel. Inside, there's three series, each with 6 buttons. The controls are a left and right arrow button on either side. I added a new button into the series and moved each of the series so they no longer ovrlapped.The carousel should just rotate through continuously, but it returns to the start after 6 clicks. Please let me know if there is any other materials I need to provide. Did adding in another button change the positions in the code? If so, what do I need to do to fix it?

I have created a flash website that looks like this (see below). When you click on any of the menu buttons (home, architecture, etc), the menu bar stays stationary while everything else slides horizontally. The title of the page (black with yellow outer glow) scrolls horizontally as well and stops as you see here to show the next page has "arrived" or loaded. There is no page loading or timeline jumping in Flash. It's all programmed for the menu buttons to trigger the entire site to start moving.
My problem is trying to figure out the best way to show images for the portfolio. Each page will have pics depending on the category, and I am wanting to display them as best as possible. I considered using a Web Gallery made through Bridge, but it makes an HTML file that won't slide like the rest of the site will. I am needing the images to slide as well like the rest. Because of this, the images at some point have to be Movie Clips so the script will move them accordingly.
Is there any way to have the images as MC's, bring them into view, and then somehow make them clickable that starts up LightBox2 or a Bridge-made Web Gallery of those images? Or am I screwed?
Is it best to load the preloader from external file or place it directly into an already existing movie?
View 3 RepliesI have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?

I was testing the vector files that I export of the art I made, and upon re-importation to flash the colours have changed significantly. Then, when the game is running in a browser, it looks different again. It even looks different between different browsers.
