Mar 30, 2011I am using a trial version of CS5, and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my issue, but wouldn't think so.I am trying to display a video in a basic HTML file created in Dreamweaver.I am using flash to generate the .swf file to be embedded.I used the media encoder to convert the video file I have from .avi to .f4v.This all seems to work just fine and when I test the html file locally it works.The issue I have is when I load the files on a web server for further testing, it plays the video, but there are no controls visible on the page for the video.As stated above, they display correctly when I run this locally.I have also loaded the skin.swl file on the server in the same location as I have it locally.I have tried everything I can think of to try and can not get the controls to display while deployed on my web server.

Apr 14, 2011I have one problem with my swf file which I created,I created the file useing the dimentions 1024x768, for pc I need these mentions the same swf file I want to use it in some other divise which will support only 480x272 dimentions.so, without creating the same file with these dimentions, is there any posible way to resize the swf file while publishing and the devise which I want to play the swf file it will support only swf format.

Jan 21, 2011I'm making videos for an instructional program. This involves importing audio, images, animating those images, etc. I'll be exporting to flv format at the end, and then converting them to MP4 for downloads online.H
1.) Should I be using ActionScript 3.0 or ActionScript 2.0 for this?
2.) When I try to import audio, the whole audio file doesn't show up immediately in a new layer that I've created. It only goes in the blank keyframe that I've inserted. How do I import the audio so that the entirety of it shows up?

Oct 22, 2010Are there any software that will convert Word documents or pdf into swf files that ca be displayed inside of a Flash movie. Currently, I am using FlashPaper but the software is not supported anymore by Adobe. I am creating eLearning courses and having a pdf open inside of a course without opening multiple makes for a better learning experience.

The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

I'm using loadVariables("text.txt", ""); in my ActionScript and text.txt is located in the same directory. I have embedded the fonts and I'm using Flash CS5 and I have selected Classic Text/Dynamic Text.

Mar 8, 2009Is there a way to view the AS 3 code that Flash CS3 is creating? To be a little bit clearer about what I'm asking let me make the parallel with Dreamweaver. If you need to create an HTML table in Dreamweaver you can click the table icon at the top, configure your table, and then you can see in the code window the <table width= height=..> <tr> etc. that has been created dynamically by the software.I know its not a straight forward feature built into Flash or I would have found it but I was wondering if there is some surreptitious way of extracting the code.

So, if pictures is 5, then we end up with 5 boxes, box1_mc, box2_mc, box3_mc and so on. But I can't work out an easy way to refer to them later on. For example, say someone presses a button and I want to move all of them - how can I set their _x value in a loop? For example, if I wanted to move all of them 100 pixels, then this wouldn't work:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Returning Correct Name From A Code Created Movie Clip
Jan 24, 2011I am an AS3 n00b with hopefuly a simple question I am designing a simple game in flash. This code creates an array of movie clips and asigns a picture to each one. It is a map screen. What I need is when I click on one of the created movie clips, I need it to return either the index of the clip in the array or the name of the clip. Basicaly anything I can use to tell them apart in the code. Here is the code:

Now all this works fine, it creates the map and assigns the correct picture and places them in the correct X,Y position and it is the correct grid of 27x27 squares. The problem is with the name, when I click on the movie clip, it returns "Instance2" or "Instance5" or whatever. It starts with 2 and then increases each number by 3 for each clip, so the first one is 2, then 5 then 8 and so on. This is no good. I need it to return the name that I assigned it. If I put the code in trace(MapSquare[1]) it will return the name "MapSquare1" so I know the name was assigned, but it isnt returning.
