Flex :: Layout - Totally Re-sizable Application ?
Jun 27, 2011I would like to create an totally re-sizable application using Flex 4.5. I experimented already but my approach seems to be hard to maintain so it does not look good to me. Here is my approach:Concerning the HTML I actually have a first page which detects the user's monitor resolution and then redirects to the flash container HTML(a JSP) which reads the width and height parameters and renders the flash to the size passed.In my application I used the 1280x720 as the reference size so I have created a utility class:

I pass the percentage value relative to height or width and I get back just that. So I actually bind the height/width of components to e.g {LayoutUtils.relativeToWidth(50)} which would return 640 if my applications width would be 1280. But this means setting width and/or height to almost every component and this includes also padding and anchor positions which makes it a mess. I want everything to be re sized correctly(including fonts). All the available sizes I am going to have available will keep the same aspect ratio which is going to be 16:9 for example because I can't see any other way of doing it
Flash - Embed .swf In Webpage And Make It Fullscreen
Feb 16, 2010Is there a way to embed a .swf file in a webpage and provide a way to make it fullscreen? I'm creating these files with Adobe Captivate, which doesn't seem to provide a way to publish in other usable formats (.avi files are too big, and no .flv is available, to which there seem to have some players around that allow fullscreen).

May 23, 2010I have a small problem when embedding an swf file in a flash cs4 project (adobe), when run, the embedded video loops continuously. If you play the swf file outside adobe flash, it doesn't loop.Any one know how i can stop the embedded file from looping?

Apr 2, 2010Just wondering how to embed fonts using code, and not the library - the examples I have used are giving me errors, so I'm obviously not understanding something.I originally set up a library font, and got it to work fine using the following code, but ideally I'd like to embed using just code.I set up and populate a dynamic text field (JX)g1.textParamFunc(JX);[code]So how would I use the following code to replace the library font?Is there a way to take part of the code, and place it in the g1 package above? Or do I have to create a separate external as for it, and somehow call it into the g1 as?[code]

I know the way to add flv file by creating FLVPlayback component. But in this case we always need to depend on the source path of corresponding file. I am not able to find any kind of solution for this. As second way I have imported flv file to the library and created the instance of this but there is some problem with the synchronization of audio with video.Also in this case I am not able to handle this flv in as3 as programmatically

Nov 6, 2010I have a shared fonts.swf file containing a variety of fonts that my main swf uses. I have a movieclip within the fonts.swf file which is exported for runtime sharing. In my main swf I have the fonts.swf imported for runtime via a movieclip. This all works fine and allows me to use the fonts within the fonts.swf file in my main swf. I am trying to work out how to import fonts.swf for runtime via as2 (instead of manually within the library), as in different circumstances different fonts are required and it is massively increasing the filesize having to import all fonts every time when only a few are needed.

Feb 25, 2011I have a simple Flash project.It includes some jpg images with text on them.When I export and the click on the swf file locally, the quality is very clear.When I open the html file to view the embedded swf, the quality is severely degraded.Is there anything I can do to help this? This is the html file with the degraded pictures (most notable in the text).If you click through you will see some of the text is really hard to read, where if I view the swf file locally it is perfectly clear.In publish settings I have jpg quality set to 100%.

In the example below the movie on the right (boy in the hat) is embedded using this procedure but the two on the left (paws moving on order button and dog animation) had to be installed using Dreamweaver's swf installation methodology. and, consequently the dog animation does not show up in Explorer 8 and some other browsers.

Jan 31, 2011We're currently developing a small Flash application to display our company's capabilties. This application will be stored on a small USB thumb drive that we give to our potential clients. When the thumb drive is accessed, users will see two folders "Media" and "Other"; and an SWF file entitled "Start." There is; however, one more file that displays: the interface/skin file that we used for our FLV videos (entitled "SkinUnderPlaySeekStop.swf"). If this file is not included in the same location as the main SWF file, the interface/skin will not display on the video.
We would like only the two folders and the main SWF file to be displayed on the root of the thumb drive. Is there anyway to move the interface/skin file into another folder (for example, the "Other" folder) and call it up from that location within the original FLA file?
