Professional :: Hide Navigation Button In Xml Config File?
May 11, 2011
I have a photo gallery with a navigation button that allows for additional photo categories that I don't want to appear. Unfortunately, I can't open the .fla as it appears to have been created with a newer version of Flash. The code in the config.xml file is basically:
I have a main swf file and config.xml located in the same directory. My .swf file uses config.xml to fetch config variable which it does with success. The problem appears when I put those files into Flex directory. I embed .swf file like this.
I have a flex application which contains different feature that includes google maps, twitter, facebook etc.
Currently I have hardcoded api keys in the code it self but I want to use a properties file/config file where I can put such things and use anywhere I want in the application.
Is it possible to achieve this in flex? I am using swiz framework. Is it possible to achieve this using this framework?
I have a swf file that has numerous buttons on it, and when I hover over them images appears. But when my images appears, I have other buttons (whose layers are on top of this current button layer) also appear on top of my images. I tried merging all my buttons onto one layer, but that doesn't seem to work either.
How would I be able to not make those other buttons appear on my hover state without using ActionScript?
We're currently developing a small Flash application to display our company's capabilties. This application will be stored on a small USB thumb drive that we give to our potential clients. When the thumb drive is accessed, users will see two folders "Media" and "Other"; and an SWF file entitled "Start." There is; however, one more file that displays: the interface/skin file that we used for our FLV videos (entitled "SkinUnderPlaySeekStop.swf"). If this file is not included in the same location as the main SWF file, the interface/skin will not display on the video.
We would like only the two folders and the main SWF file to be displayed on the root of the thumb drive. Is there anyway to move the interface/skin file into another folder (for example, the "Other" folder) and call it up from that location within the original FLA file?
I have a movie that loads several variables from different text files depending on the users selected location. In each location txt file I have set a variable showPDF=false to hide a view PDF button named "pdfBtn" on the main timeline. In the text file the variable is set as follows:
&showPDF=false on the main timeline the hide AS is as follows: var showPDF2=showPDF;
I have a banner rotator fla file that has an xml file for producing the content. How do I rename the xml file from"config.xml" to "BannerConfig.xml" and still have it work with the flv file?
i took a look at many menus and treid to find the right one for me. I think I've found it: http:[url]...at the bottom, theres a menu that scales in relation to the mouse position. an when you roll over it comes up. the selected item is shown also when it's closed again. how to realize this. I only worked some times withe the laco tweening class but how can i build up that really cool menu?
I installed a flash template. It has navigation buttons with a nice roll-over effect. The buttons are all located within a symbol called "menu" (it is a Movie Clip type symbol, not a Button type). Each individual button in the menu appear to be in its own separate layer, so the first button is in a layer called "item1, second button in "item2", and so on. I want to edit the link for the fourth button so it goes to another website but I can't seem to find the code to edit the link. I managed to find
[CODE]...
and this does work - upon pressing the button it goes to the website link. However, there is no more roll-over effect for this button. So there has to be an alternative or better way to editing the link for this button (without removing the roll-over effect).
I have created a movieclip button which is animated for all the states I need (up, over, out, etc.) it's made up of text, which is in a movie clip where I have my animations created (actions layer with AS3 script, my txt movieclip layer, my hit layer) and then that is inside a movie clip in my main scene. Is it possible to copy that button, so then change the text, Actionscript, instance name, etc?I tried copying the layer (by selecting the frames and copying frames, and pasting to new layer) but when I make any changes, it changes both copies!
I'm using Parsley in my flex mobile project. I have multiple destination services but I can't find more resources on how to add another destination service to config.xml file. The file is as below:
I Am trying to create a navigation system where the navigation(nav_mc) will slide into screen anytime the mouse is over the plash player and then slide out when the mouse is off the flash player.
I have achieved this quite easily using an invisible button(stage_btn) over the entire flash, with event handlers to initiate tweenlite tweens of the navigation in and out of screen on MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT
Now i have buttons in nav_mc, that dont receive focus if nav_mc is below the main stage_btn and if i bring stage_btn above the nav_mc it means that when i rollover nav_mc, then stage_mc looses focus and slides out with all my navigation buttons...
Any ideas on the best way to handle this situation - or go about doing the the entire ting in a different way?
Is there a way to set the value of a private static const identifier from a config file during compile time in Actionscript 3?Also, it would be nice if I can do this in the mxmlc ANT task.
Instead of a link, I'd like to call a javascript method that opens up a modal dialog with a list of items. I've tried the following based on some things I found, but I can't get it to work.
loadAsModal() takes in an empty div that i put on the page, and then the menu.jsp which builds the menu given the group id. I made sure to import all of my js libraries on the page.
The flex compiler (mxmlc) allows the use of token substitution in the compiler config xml file, as referenced in the documentation. From the linked documentation it is clear that you can specify your own tokens for substitution on the commandline, but there are also some default/magic tokens available that Adobe has put in place. For example, the snippet below is reduced from an Adobe example on how to fiddle with the framework RSL sourcing:[code]I have highlighted two tokens in use there, namely hosted.rsl.url and build.number. These work "magically" without specifying them on the commandline.
Here is another example that vaguely shows the existence of a ${flexlib} token.Unfortunately, aside from those limited examples I can't find a whisper of documentation on what tokens are available... Is the list of tokens documented somewhere that I can't find? If not, does anyone know what the available tokens are so that this SO question can be the documentation? referenced build.number, I might as well also note that build.number doesn't seem to work quite like Adobe seems to think it does since for me it simply gives me the build number, not the whole string. ie: For flex 4.5.0.20967, ${build.number} just gives me 20967 which is not much help). I had a web link where someone was complaining about the changing implementation of these tokens, but I can't find it anymore.
In my Event Viewer logs on my Vista 64bit Home Premium machine - trying to install Flash CS4.Spent a few hours on the phone with adobe tech support, doing the normal things in kb408730 Running the CS4 clean script, turning off virus software, resetting the permissions for Config.Msi directory, creating a new user account with admin privs and installing there.Just wanted to see if anyone had come up with a sure fire way to get around the problem of the Adobe installer not having permission to write to Config.Msi
We can auto-generate flex-confix xml file from flash-builder so to provide users that want to compile project on there own would be capable of doing such thing with out buying FB. So we use something like -dump-config slotConfig.xml as flex compiler argment. This generates a file for us... with lots of detailed comments like this one I generated from that project:
I have an audio slide show and I need to add caption and on off button to show and hide the caption. how can I make on and off button to show the caption?and is it possible to add caption on my audio (not video) using actionscript 3.0?
I'm programming Rich web applications with Flex and Java on Flex Builder 3 using blazeDS and SharedObjects. Now I need that my program will use configuration file.so, I need that my Java class will read it at the first time but the default path of java to read and write files is c:program filesFlex Builder 3 and not my application directory inside the tomcat webapps directory How can I read the config file from the java class without write the path hardcoded in the java?
I am using actionscript 3 to make a point and click game. On frame 1 there are two buttons, button 1 and 2. On frame 3 there are two buttons, button A and B. I want it so that after I click button 1 on frame 1, button A on frame 3 will be hidden or when I click button 2 on frame 1, button B on frame 3 will be hidden. The buttons that are hidden do not do anything when you click them.
I'm using flash for the first time to create my graphic design portfolio and I'm having trouble keeping the file size small, and can reduce it by (hopefully) doing the following:
My resume has a lot of classic tweens with alpha channels (to create fadein/fadeout effects) and as of right now, I need to create a separate layer of fadein, fadeout for each transition. IE: My resume to portfolio page needs one 20-frame transition, my portfolio page to resume needs a 20-frame transition, my 2nd page of my portfolio page to my biography needs a 20-frame transition, etc. It's getting out of hand.
I could easily remedy this by using a lot of separate fadeins fadeouts and then coding buttons to navigate from, say, frames 120-130 (resume fadeout) then go to frame 160-170 (biography fadein), then navigate to a static page. I'm not sure if this is possible, as my buttons would have to change functions each frame.
Another possible way is that currently for each button I have different layers in order to direct the button to different frames, and have placing hem in the same spot. I'm wondering if there's any way to have buttons go to separate frames on different frames, if you get what I mean (on frame 120 it'll go to 130, on frame 150 it'll go to 160 but still be the same button". Right now each button is coded with on release gotoandplay <frame>.
I have a question about hiding a flash button. I have 2 buttons (one for muting and one for unmuting). When I click on the mute one, I want to make it so that it hides the mute one and makes the unmute button visible and vice-versa. I have tried using the ._alpha on release for actions but its not working. I also tried using ._visible.
I'm not happy with my hide/show function..... the code works, but I think it is a waste of space on my stage that I need two buttons to hide and show a movieclip... there must be a better way
I m building a website and lately i am facing a lil problem.i have placed a button from windows->components-> button with movie type button property now the issue is i am unable to link that to a pdf file.i want that button to open a pdf file.and how do i do that.
I really enjoy flashing (I just do it for fun) but I'm very slow (read:dumb) when it comes to scripting.
Currently I want to create a site where in a region (the green textblock) your cursor disappears, gets replaced by an ecliptic mask and instead of the normal textblock, you see another textblock (red in the picture above) with hopefully hilarious changes to the original text with said mask when I'm done. When you move outside of the textblock(picture, whatever) to hit the link at the end of the page, your mousecursor reverts to the one you always have and is not hidden and replaced by the mask anymore.
I got the two textblocks done, it works fine. But for the life of me i don't know how to code that the mouse cursor is ONLY hidden in the region where the text is and not everywhere.
