View 5 RepliesHi! I just figured out how to animate a button on mouse over. My question now is, how could I make a button animate after clicking it and before it goes to the link?

I am trying to create a butterfly to fly in front of an image gallery, kinda to be funny. I am new at this, so its probably easy and I just forgot, but I need some help please.
I create the butterfly on the stage, make into a movie clip symbol. Click inside the movie clip....and then what? I want to be able to click on the butterfly that is sitting on a leaf, once it is clicked on it will fly in front of the image gallery (I have already created, and seems to work) for a few seconds and then fly back to the leaf.
I'm new to wonderful world of flash and I'm having a little trouble with a button I've created. Basically, I have a button which covers an image. I'd like to make it so that after the button is clicked, it disappears - thus exposing the image behind it.
View 8 RepliesSo, here is what I'm trying to do. I have a page full of characters for a project I'm working on now, and I want to add some interactivity to the page by making each of the characters clickable and having a description of the character pop up that you can then close. I have included 3 images of what I'd ideally like tohappen.Picture 1: The page in just a normal state, nothing happening.Picture 2: On rollover, I would like the character to pop out and enlarge.I know how to make it enlarge on rollover, but I don't understand how you would make it come to the front above other layers. with understanding how to do.
Picture 3: I want a description like this to pop up when you click on the character. I have a layer at 50% opacity to fade the background out as well. I need to know how to:1. Make this image show up when you click on the respective character.2. Make this image disappear when you click on the red X button at the top right
How would I do this? I've got tree buttons. Only one is supposed to be "selected" at a time. They play different animations. What I need, is to set the button (which has different bg color depending on its over, up and down state) to it's down state.
Simply put; I need to freeze the button in it's down-state when it's clicked. And when I click one of the other buttons, it's supposed to return back to its normal state, and the new button is to be frozen in it's down state.
but when I test my movie, my navigation buttons flash rapidly and make their "clicking sound" over and over and over..... Could this be a "layers" issue? My navigation buttons reside on a "global content" layer which sits below a "sections content" layer..... and there IS content above these buttons on that layer. I'd try re-arranging the layers and testing the movie, but I am not at home right now... and I was curious to see what some of you might think before I got back home tonight.
View 4 RepliesI have a small mask that I need to animate across the stage in response to clicking various buttons. It has to go a different distance each time depending on which button is clicked along the x axis. I can get at the starting and ending x co-ordinates. need to develop a set of x cordinates so that the mask starts moving fast and slows down as it gets nearer - kind of like the easing effect. I figured using some sort of simple 1/x^2 expression and have spent an hour or so fiddling in excel. Trouble is its a LONG TIME since I did maths, and I can't remember what formula to use. Have tried google with "parabola", "simple curves" etc etc
View 3 RepliesI have a 3d model of a village created in 3DS Max, and I want to know what is the procedure for me to get it into Flash?The reason for this is because I want to use AS3 to make the user be able to fly through the village by clicking a button. Like for example, when the user clicks a button named "Water" the view(camera) flies through to the village's Lake. Then when he/she clicks "Houses" it goes maybe to a hut. And again if he/she clicks "Water" it will go to the lake using the same path it took.
There is only one defined path that the camera can go through, and that path have locations where the camera can stop depending on which button is clicked ("Water" stops at the lake, "Houses" stops at the hut, etc.)
In Flash CS5 for Mac, when I click the red button in the upper left corner of the document, the application quits instead of just closing the window. In CS3 this didn't happen. The document window would close and the Welcome Screen would appear.
View 2 RepliesI have created a button in Flash CS4 with AS3. It is an invisible button over a test tube illustration. I have created an animation of an empty test tube illustration that fills with liquid when you click on the invisible button. The duration of the movie clip (test tube filling) is 26 frames at 18 frames per second (about 1.5 seconds).I have put in action script that sends the viewer to a URL when you click on the (invisible) test tube button and it works as expected.My problem is that when I test the button, it goes immediately to the URL without me being able to see the full animation of the test tube filling first.
My question:How can I delay the action of the button linking to the URL to allow the viewer to see the full 26 frames (about 1.5 seconds) of animation and THEN GO TO THE SPECIFIED URL?Found lots of stuff about delaying using intervals?? in ActionScript -not making any sense to me. I am a beginner/intermediate in Flash and know very little about AS - i find most of my AS stuff on line on forums etc.Here is my action script 3.0 on the last frame (26) of my animation. teach_btn is the invisible button.
stop();
teach_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,mouseClick);
function mouseClick(event:MouseEvent):void
[code].....
Not a URL, but just a swf file in a popup window. Using ActionScript3.0
View 3 RepliesThe title pretty much sums up what I am trying to do: I haven't started digging into using script in Flash yet, still being very much a beginner.
I created a simple file using movie clips nested in buttons so that when I mouseover a letter, it bobs up and down, but I can't work out how to make it return to its original "up" state *smoothly* when the mouse is moved away. If it must involve script please be aware I am a total noob!
I am using actionscript 3 to make a point and click game. On frame 1 there are two buttons, button 1 and 2. On frame 3 there are two buttons, button A and B. I want it so that after I click button 1 on frame 1, button A on frame 3 will be hidden or when I click button 2 on frame 1, button B on frame 3 will be hidden. The buttons that are hidden do not do anything when you click them.
View 2 RepliesWhat I want is a hint how to make a specific thing happen while clicking a specific button. Like "if I click button 1, do this". Would like to use this script though I'm gonna add buttons over time and this is an easy way to have the functionality working.
Here's the code:
Attach Code
function hitButton(btn) {
btn.onRollOver = function() {
this.colorTo (0xC4006A);
[Code]....
I have a movie with 4 or 5 scenes. How can i make the movie jump from scene 1 to another scene by clicking on a button?
View 5 RepliesI need a very simple solution to make a very simple stylized hockey player. The player has to skate around the rink holding a hockey stick, then, stop and shoot a puck. I don't want the character or animation to be super realistic, but it has to look like the player is sort of skating and shooting a puck. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?I am open to any suggestions or a good tutorial or even if someone has the time to create a simple sample file of how to set up the skating
View 2 RepliesI'm creating sort of a game in Flash, which requires invisible hotspots changing their position in time, relative to the stage. The question is: can I simply keyframe the hotspot position and have it work, or is there something that I should consider?

Any actionscript for a close button and self closing window would help.
I have two div layers in an html page. Is there a way to hide or show them by clicking a button in flash? I have searched online and haven't been able to find something that works.

2. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make text (or a button if need be) link to a specific flash frame. If you look on the site, there are a couple of spots under "What We Do" that I need clickable to take them to the Contact Us page.
How do I get an html pop-up window by clicking a button on a Flash movie?Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3
View 1 RepliesI am having problem with flash main menu it reloads when ever you click a different button to another page on it. I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 and Adobe Flash CS4 Professional. Is there any codes that can create some kind of cache so we can open next page without reloading flash?
Site:
replace (dot) with "." please

I would like to be able to click a button on a flash menu, programmatically.
This means, unfortunately, that tabbing over to it or hard-coding the X and Y coordinates of the button will not work (due to using multiple threads, neither of these approaches works while running in the background).
I tried doing this with Javascript, but automating it that way does not work because the individual items are inaccessible in Flash.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm attempting to load-test our application which interacts with a flash menu in order to build a report. From what I can tell, the low-end or open-source load-testing utilities don't offer much support in the way of flash navigation.
I want to target multiple buttons and get different value by clicking different button.
Suppose there are 3 buttons: "button01", "button02, "button03".
This is my code:
var targetArr:Array = ["button01","button02","button03"];
for (var i:int = 0; i < targetArr.length; i++)
{
var target = getChildByName(targetArr[i]);
[Code]....
Instead of getting different value by clicking different button, I constantly get "3" as the value. I want: clicking "button01" will get "0" as the value, clicking "button02" will get "1" as the value, and clicking "button03" will get "2" as the value. How to do it?
I'm having an issue with a blank open document, clicking on 'import to stage' will crash the program or clicking on 'import to library' will crash the program I have tried uninstalling CS4 and re-installing CS4. The problem remains the same
View 3 RepliesMy Flash animation is basically similar to this link provided by Adobe Developers.The Flash is about star moving in depth space to makes the star looks alike in 3D.I am going to implement the button to change the color of that object (star).I'm creating 3 new symbols and draw each a rounded-square button filled with red, green and blue respectively.So, I wish to click that button when running, and when I select red button, the star will changing to red color for all.
View 1 RepliesI've seen a tutorial for changing the background inside of flash based on buttons to click. However, these colors were palettes and not of backgrounds such as jpeg. What I'd like to do is to create 3 buttons and place them on my flash website. These three buttons allow the user to click on them thus changing the background. So if you're visiting the about page and click one of these buttons, I don't want the user to go back to the home page after clicking.
