Professional :: Make A Basic Timeline For A Class?

I am trying to make a basic timeline for a class but I can't figure out the coding to use.  I have worked on an older version- macromedia flash but I can't get cs4 to work for me.What I am trying to do is have a button that is the date.  When someone clicks on it or rolls over it information about that date is highlighted. I want the box with the text to turn from grey to white then back.I can make the button and get that to work but I can't seem to get in further on it. Meaning that once I try to connect it to the box with the text everything starts to go crazy.

I can't find a way to directly access a MC (or textfield, etc) on the timeline from a Class loaded into my Document Class. No problem from the Doc Class, but can't do it directly from the loaded Class. Is there a trick to essentiall extend the Doc Class AS from another external class?

how to navigate through the Main timeline using the arrow keys!I know its probably been asked (and covered) a thousand times, so sorry in advance.And yes, of course i've googled it but every piece of code i try seems to error :C

So, just to re-cap, i'm trying to display whats on frame 2 when say, key 40 (right arrow key, i think) is pressed, then return to frame 1 on release, if that makes sense.

I have this fully functioning program with me that has a certain line of code that I am having a little difficulty figuring out. Here is how it goes:

var initVar:LoadVars = new LoadVars( );
I know what the above line does, as in a variable 'initVar' of type LoadVars is being decalred. It's a composite datatype and LoadVars is a class.

However what I don't understand is what comes next:

gBasicConnect = initVar.basicConnect;
I was expecting basicConnect to be a method of the LoadVars class, unfortunately according to the AS2 API, it's not. Where could basicConnect have come from than? The program was originally written with ActionScript 2.0 in Flash 8.0, I am now looking at it in CS3.

I have a blank FLA. with document class index. I have an AS file name index saved in same folder. My custom package looks like this, but the movieClip does not display at runtime. I'm just trying to begin work with OOP and custom classes and I'm not sure why this isn't working for me:

I'm trying to make a basic true/false quiz in Flash.It involves a question with two radio buttons with instance names t1 and f1 (true and false).When the user presses check answers a movieclip with instance name yn1 moves to frame 2 or 3 which displays a tick or cross.

This is all working fully, the problem arises if the user presses check answers again.This for some reason turns the ticks to crosses and the crosses to ticks and I have no idea why!?My code is as follows:

Okay so I need to make a basic activity (working Flash/as3) that simulates very basic weighing scales. All the objects that go on to the scales are the same weight.

If you imagine the classic weighing scales [URL]..we are dragging/dropping stuff on to the sides and animating accordingly.

I don't want anything fancy, just the maths required to affect the scales according to how many objects are on each side.

What I'm looking for is probably the angle of rotation of the horizontal arm. Any pointers?

i've been trying to animate a basic character, which is a comp of 2 legs, 2 arms, a torso and a head.I want it to move from point a to point b, whilist moving it's arms and legs in a very simple manner. what i've done is motion tweened the main character from point a to point b during 10 frames, and then inside the character i've classic tweened the arms and legs during 10 frames aswell. the animation inside the comp is working, but in the main scene i only see the character moving, and in frame 10 the arms and legs change to the tween's final pose, without the entire animation in the middle...

I am trying to create a basic flash script to load an external swf file using MovieClipLoader class. Here's my code:

I simply copied it from a tutorial. Unfortunately it throws an error message as follows:

1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MovieClipLoader
1180: Call to a possibly undefined method.

PS: I have CS3 professional in my machine but I am following Flash 8 book. But my CS3 application supports AS1, 2 and 3.

Professional :: Basic Motion And Smooth Points

I just jumped from cs3 to cs5 and i'm curious about some behaviors of motion editor. I made a motion tween with some keyframes on x and y. I open the motion editor and try to convert those keys on x and y channels to Smooth points. Motion editor shows now nice curves on x & y but nothing changes on stage. The motion of my movie clip is not changed in anyway. Its like those keys are still Corner points. No smooth motion. Of course I can change the motion path straight from the stage or create a custom ease to smooth motion.

I am doing my simple portfolio on Adobe Flash CS4. However when I am already looking just for the basic action scripting from the tutorial I can't determine which is the most accurate for the buttons. Professional :: Display Video In A Basic HTML File Created In Dreamweaver

I am using a trial version of CS5, and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my issue, but wouldn't think so.I am trying to display a video in a basic HTML file created in Dreamweaver.I am using flash to generate the .swf file to be embedded.I used the media encoder to convert the video file I have from .avi to .f4v.This all seems to work just fine and when I test the html file locally it works.The issue I have is when I load the files on a web server for further testing, it plays the video, but there are no controls visible on the page for the video.As stated above, they display correctly when I run this locally.I have also loaded the skin.swl file on the server in the same location as I have it locally.I have tried everything I can think of to try and can not get the controls to display while deployed on my web server.

Is it possible to make the timeline run backwards through the timeline, so that I don't have to waste resources on reversing my scene intro animation later on in my main timeline? (imagine the intro is zooming into a book, then the reverse effect zooming out of the book).

I have been wondering this for a long time, but I assume that this is not possible.

I've got a project thats getting a bit big, so Im taking the actionscript out into separate as files. I want all the basic functions to be in BasicFunctions.as and the make a library for more specific functions. I find that a lot of people use the import statement but I cant get that to work with a simple Hello World trace, yet the include statement works fine (see attached). I understand that import/include work differently, but which is the better method? If import, then is that heavier to work with. Any rate, what's the best way to organise code when it gets to the 1000+ lines?

Professional :: SWF Basic Image Slider Causes "Blocked Script" Warning In IE

I just recently coded a basic image slider/slide show in Flash CS5. Bassicly, it's just a bunch of images that slide via motion tween in and out of view (Like on the right side of Pizzahut.com, my clients insperation) but, when published and thrown into my HTML, it causes Internet Explorer to give the "To Help Protect Your Security, Internet Explorer has prevented this webpage from running scripts or active X Controlls" and you have to click the little bar at the top and select "Allow Blocked COntent" for the slideshow to work. I specifically coded this show in flash (Published as an SWF) to avoid this warniong (As opposed to J-Query) and I have sites that I have made with similar SWF image sliders that don't through up this warning [URL]
