I am trying to resize my current document.It is currently 1000px and I want to make it 1300px but when I do that, all the elements that is near the top becomes off the screen to the top.I only want the document to be longer in height from the bottom but not sure what it is affecting the elements on the top?

View 3 RepliesI looked online on how to reduce file size od an .fla file for use on the web but not very clear. I have an .FLA file that is 800X600 px. when I publish it, I reduce file size, audio to mono etc, and I am getting 1.8mb file, way to large for web use. I tried an swf and flv file but same results. I need to reduce the entire document. I read to use the onion skin the highlight everything then resize but I have over 5,000 frames in my movie. Can someone explain in detail, how to highlight all of the frames in the movie, and then reduce the file to say 400 X 300 px? I am able to drag the onion skin but only to the edge of the viewable document then I must scroll over and repeat the process. there must be an easier way to highlight all frames in the movie then resize the whole thing.

If im on the home page, home is correctly highlighted. However after that it skips the next button (about). So when I am on the about page the next button (events) is highlighted.

View 1 RepliesIn cs5.5, I have a frame with a movie clip on it. When a user clicks a button, I want the movie clip to stop and the user to be directed to another frame. It is correctly redirecting to a different frame, however, the movie clip is still on the stage and playing. How can I modify the following code to make it not just go to a different frame, but also stop the movie clip that is on that frame from playing?

I'm currently working in Flash mx 2004 and am creating a version of 'what happened in history today'. So my final layout will have the following iobjects.
Heading: 'current date'
Title: 'On this day in History'
Text box: Which displays the right description from a text file. history.txt
Image box: which displays a pic related to the current date.
I know basic Flash but have been playing around for ages am having real trouble getting things to work correctly. The main priority is to get the text loaded based on the current date. I have an images folderwhere the pictures are stored with files names related to date i.e. 14feb.jpg and my history.txt file is set out with a line for each date. i.e., 14feb=Valentines Day etc.
Some of my flash buttons do not work in FlashPlayer 10 but work in 10.1 So I wanted to alert a user to upgrade to the most current flash player 10.1 if he/she has 10 and visits my website. What is the best way to do it? My entire site is done in Flash and I am using AS3.

View 9 RepliesI've been working on a project in Flash CS3 for a while. To follow an object on the screen and keep it centered, I'd adjust the Document Class' x and y properties.
Yesterday I bought/installed Flash CS5 and thus Flash Player 10 was also installed. Now when I go play my SWF it seems everything is all buggy, as if the code that modifies the Document Class' x and y properties isn't exactly working properly...
I've since reopened the CS3 FLA in CS5 and converted it to a CS5 format and I can't seem to get it working the way it used to.
Did something change regarding the Document Class and how to modify the x / y properties of it in the Flash Player 10 version? I really don't know what's going on at this point.

View 1 RepliesSo I've got an .swf file embedded in a document (SMART board in this case, but a simple Word doc would probably serve in the same fashion). I'm trying to replicate the same functionality I see in another .swf. Basically its got a configuration menu where you can open and configure the .swf to behave differently, then save off and have it keep that. More importantly, if I close the document and re-open, it keeps the configuration. Harder yet, if I mail the document to someone else, it will keep the configuration.
Oops, its that last step that kills me. I understand how to use shared objects to save settings locally. I don't believe they're using server based shared objects in this case (no maintained server for it). So how can they be saving settings that travel with the document?
I recently made a flash document with animations and some AS at 1600 pixels wide. It turns out that my web developer is having trouble using the file and would like it cut down to 1200 pixels wide. I can make the document 1200 wide, but then everything is off-center. Is there any way that I can crop it to 1200 my taking 200 pixels off of each side instead of just 400 off of one side? If not is there an easier way to just select every layer and tween at one and move them over

I've finished my flash site using a resolution of 1024x768: my professor wasn't so happy of a resolution so "high" (even if today is something like standard) since somebody might still have an old monitor with low res.Since I really don't want to get a bad vote I wanted to change the resolution to 1000x550 because with that res a 1024x768 monitor still can see everything: then I've exported my .swf file and then into the .HTML file I've changed the width and height fields.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to resize an animation I have larger, it has 12 layers, and 20 frames or so on each layer. I'm using edit multiple frames and selecting them all, and it is working to resize them, but randomly it will delete one of my objects for a few of the frames. When I scrub through the timeline after the resize, something is always missing, but it's always a random object and only for a few frames
View 1 RepliesI'm new to CS5.5 after being away since, I think, Macromedia was around. I just bought CS5.5 soley for creating simple, fun Android apps for my son (animated storybooks etc).
However, I'm constantly changing my phones and we also have a tablet and the wife has a phone with a small resolution.
What I'm wanting to do, is create an app that's at a resolution for my tablet (1024x600), but then also be able to scale it down to my Optimus 3D (800x480) and the Wife's Xperia Mini Pro (640x480)
Now, there will be bitmaps in there, so I didn't want the phone/Air resizing the app to fit the screen and using more ram and cpu than needed so I was wanting to create 2 or 3 versions all at different resolutions.
We have noticed a possible bug in the Flash Player within Mac's latest OS version Snow Leopard.
When a Browse for file dialog is initiated, upon returning to the browser. It's as if there is a layer above the flash app which stops interaction with the mouse. MouseOver events no longer take place and a click is require to remove this layer. If you move your mouse at all after the click this invisible layer returns limiting interaction.
We have tested this with 2 macs running snow leopard and the latest Flash Player. And also verified it is not an issue on Mac OSX previous to Snow Leopard.
It seems to effect only FF and Safari. Opera functions correctly.. Here is a video we created documenting the problem: [URL]
We have not had any customers complain about this yet. But if it's infact a bug, it's just a matter of time.
i'm making an "EBook" for my GCE in applied ICT and i want to use a Flash handler to view a PDF document. So far i've converted the PDF file to images and Imported them (on the fly encorperating XML). while this was an alright way to work the images become pixelated when zoomed in/out so i was wondering if anyone has done something like this before and if so how they went about it?
View 2 RepliesI have a question about a library one would create inside a Flash document. I have a bunch of pieces of graphics objects inside a library for a FLA file. I then drag these pieces onto stage to build a more complex object. I then select all those pieces and group them and convert this new object into a movie clip. From there I move it into the library for that FLA file. I notice there is both a graphic for this object plus the movie clip for that object. To me these are 2 separate objects. So when I delete the graphic of the object, it also deletes the movie clip I created of the object.
View 5 Replies1. I am creating a Flash banner to go at the top of my website that is going to animate the name for the site one letter at a time. I have this part of the banner completed as a movie symbol that I have added to my main timeline. What I was wonder is if it is possible to set a timer or some type of pause for how long I want it to wait before looping again? I dont want to stop the looping all together but would like to maybe make it pause for 5 minutes or so before starting animation again. Keep in mind it has to be done within the movie symbol becuase I have other animation going on the main timeline that will just continuously loop.
2. Is it possible to set a flash swf to the background of a html document? The reason I ask is again with my banner I am creating I have a menu bar that is about 3/4 of the ways down the height of banner. I want me primary animation to be able to move behind this menu bar. I realise I can make the menu straight in flash adding my links directly to it, but I would perfer to handle that in straight html or whatever if possible.
I have upgraded my CS4 to CS5 on MAC OSX and i'm having problems saving new and existing fla files. It doesnt always do it but it's very anoying when you have done some work and are unable to save it.
I get this message:
unable to save document as (file name)
please try saving to a different filename or location.
even if i try to save as to a different location i get the same message, this ONLY happens in flash CS5 and does not do it on any other application or even flash CS4. To put it bluntly i am absolutely furious with this and when you pay this amount of money should not get this hassle for such a simple action.
I have tried phoneing the adobe support line and it's a joke, you can't even understand the operator to even get anywhere and i just gave up having to repeat myself and asking them to repeat themselves.
I would be grateful if someone out there knows an answer to this or have a contact email for adobe support that i can email them direct. As a flash developer it's critical i can get on with my work without worrying if my work will even save.
UPDATE: I can save files in CS5 as CS4 documents but not as CS5, this is so annoying.
Is there a simple way to scale my entire movie? I've tried doing it with the "modify -> scale" and dragging, but that only scales the selected symbol. I also tried going to the last frame, selecting all and scaling again, but then I have stuff in the middle of the movie that doesn't seem to scale correctly.
