ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 Return To Frame 1 After 5 Minutes?

May 27, 2010

I am rather new to actionscripting and am looking for a script or something that will automatically return to frame 1 after 5 minutes of inactivity and then reset the timer. It will be used on an interactive sign that the user can click through like a website but I want it to reset so when the next user uses it, they begin at the main page. I am using Actionscript 2, with CS3 on a Mac. I have tried different scripts that I have found on the net and can't get anything to work.

Professional :: Increasing Idle CPU Usage With Repeated Playing Of Very Animated Movie Clip?

Feb 17, 2011

I'm developing a touch-screen Flash  application for a shoe store, and it runs fine initially, but slows down  toward the end of the day. I've been diligent with removing event  listeners and so on. I've now narrowed the problem to be very specific -  it's one section of the application causing the problem, and one part  of that section:

- I have a main movie clip which  contains the animation, which itself contains 5 nested movie clips, each  with their own timeline. All movie clips have a stop action on the  final frame. images are transparent PNGs with outer glow "filter" - the issue is not with performance as such, but with CPU increasing  over time. Each time you play the clip, there is a small amount of CPU  usage that 'sticks' and doesn't get freed up. What happens is that if  you play the movie clip many (MANY MANY) times, then eventually it  starts to slow down. Mac's Activity Monitor shows that the idle CPU  usage is increasing slowly, over many times of playing the clip. It's  insignificant with each play, but adds up over time.

You  may be inclined to say: oh filters effect CPU, so it will be slow - but  it isn't slow until it plays many, many times. Initially it's fast. I've uploaded a .zip with .app and .exe versions of my problem section. There are two files of each type: AutoPlay.app  (& .exe): plays the problem clip repeatedly (I've just removed the  final 'stop();' frame), so you can leave it open and come back in half  an hour to see it slowing down.
ClickToPlay.app (& .exe): Plays the problem  clip once when you click the 'play' button, so you can click several  times, let it return to idle, and verify that the idle CPU usage is in  fact increasing.

When the swf file is done playing OR the user clicks the return to Main Menu button, they return to frame 1.[code]The .swf file plays and when I click Return to the Main Menu button, only certain items display from frame 1. The .swf file is still loaded hiding the items that should display on frame 1. I have attached a screen shot of what happens when I click the "Return to Main Menu" button.

Flash CS4 : Have Movie Return To Certain Frame When Finished?

Jan 31, 2003

I have a short Flash movie I made in Flash CS4. I figured out how to make the movie stop at the end so it won't loop forever, and I have a Replay button that appears and restarts the movie. But my directives have changed and I now need to know how to make the movie -- when it ends -- automatically go to and stop on frame 22 of the movie and also have that Replay button then appear when it does stop on frame 22. (Frame 1 through 22 is a gradual fade-in to the first scene, that's why I don't want the replay button to appear on frame 1).

Code:
stop();
function moleNav(event:MouseEvent):void{[code]....

This is located on the first frame of the swf/exe (outside the mcs themselves).

Professional :: Unload Swf After Done Playing And Return To Initial Frame In Containing Swf

Nov 18, 2010

I have a Flash animation that loads a quick animation and then on a button click loads and external swf while at the same time moves the playhead on the timeline to frame 2 so that it has a blank stage to play on. The external swf then loads and plays. At the end of the external swf's animation I would like it to unload and then return to frame one of the containing movie. I am assuming that on the last frame of the external swf I should be putting some actionscript that will unload the movie and then talk to the initial containing flash telling it to return to frame 1.

The main swf button that loads the external swf is using a code snippet from the AS3 CS5 library and looks like this...

[Code]....

It is also using gotoAndStop(2); for the same button.

So to unload the external swf and return would I use something like... this.unload(gotoAndStop(1));

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Player Using 85 - 100% CPU When Sitting Idle On A Frame

Jul 8, 2011

I have a site that is using 80 - 95 % CPU power, while sitting idle.

The rundown.... The site has selectable backgrounds, that are set on the main timeline. Most of the rest of the site resides inside of a MovieClip that sits on the main timeline. Before that movieClip loads, it uses about 4-15% CPU power to do everything including animations.

Once it stops on the Frame that has the main site MovieClip the CPU usage goes through the roof. However, even if I don't interact with it and it is just sitting there, stopped on a frame, no animations looping, and nothing loading. My CPU usage is nearing 100%. What is going on? And How can I make this use less power.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Increasing Idle CPU Usage When Removing/re-creating Heavily Animated Movie Clips?

Dec 8, 2010

I've developed a touch screen flash application for a sneakers (shoe) shop. It has a 'find a shoe' section, which isn't causing problems, and an 'about' section, which is.The about section is a heavily animated history of sneaker culture. It's animated via the timeline, not via AS3. The problem is that with prolonged use of the about section, idle CPU usage grows, and memory usage grows, eventually making the app unusably slow.

I've made a 'minified' app that does nothing other than create/delete 50 instances of my 'about' movie clip - it doesn't even add those instances to the stage. I've cut basically all code out of the 'about' class, which is shown below:

Professional :: Flash CS5 Interface Won't Re-draw After A Few Minutes Of Use?

I'm having an incredibly annoying problem with Flash CS5 on my Mac that is making the software absolutely unusable.

If I open a previously worked on file and start deleting layers and moving keyframes, the screen never redraws the interface. As in, if I delete a layer, I don't actually see it go away. It's still there in the interface. Minimizing/maximizing does nothing to refresh the interface.

Nov 18, 2010

Since the beginning of nov.2010, it crashes after some time of use. More precisely the toolbar disappears, then reappears, some GUI elements blink. It's not related to a specific user action. When this happens, closing flash is difficult (the window remains here). When switching to another app, some Flash parts remains The graphical memory seems saturated. Launching another app is met with a window error message. A windows restarts becomes necessary.This problem arises only in Flash, and with no other apps from CS3 suite.2 colleagues of mine has the same issue, also in the last weeks (= nov 2010). We work in separate places. We didn't exchange files.We are on Win XP Home Edition, Dell computer.They have more recent PCs than mine (which clearly meets the CS3 requirements), with enough memory,etcOne colleague has reinstalled winXP. The problem arised again, but I don't kow when. He also tried CS4 and CS5 and had the same problem.Today he un-installed all Adobe products with this utility:

Add EventListener On Return To 1st Frame?

May 23, 2011

I'm not sure exactly what's going on here (maybe I'm not understanding how the timeline executes?).

I have a game that has the menu in the first frame, the game in later frames. When the game is won, the user is able to click to return to the menu. Using trace(), I've found that the click reads, and it starts to execute the actions that have been written in the 1st frame. But, when it gets to the line that adds an event listener to a button on the stage using solo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,goSolo) (solo is the name of the button on the screen), it returns:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

The line executes just fine when the whole thing initializes, so I don't know why it's not working when it restarts. Is the code getting read before the stage is populating when I return the user to the main menu using gotoAndPlay(1) from the click listener? It doesn't make a difference if I use gotoAndStop(1). What's a good workaround?

Or is it because the button is in a layer lower than the actions? (I've always put my actions in the highest layer, and don't remember ever having this problem before). But why then would it still work at the very beginning but not with the restart?

Professional :: Create An Application Frame In A Flash Movie?

Feb 15, 2010

A while ago, I created a replacement shell to run as a front end for a cybercafe. It was nothing fancy; just a flash movie that had button links to IE and a few trusted applications.

I'm trying to develop it further now and am wondering two things:

1. Is it possible to send an application to a frame within a movie? For example, have a static movie at the top with links, then when a button is pressed, the menu remains but the application opens below without overlapping. I know I can use HTML and frames but really want to keep it all in one movie/swf.

2. Is it possible to build on the above and have some sort of application lister that will allow you to switch between the two applications you have running. For example, a user may open IE, then open Word. Word has now replaced IE and I want the user to have a simple click button to go back to an existing window rather than open another instance from the menu.
