I'm having an incredibly annoying problem with Flash CS5 on my Mac that is making the software absolutely unusable.
If I open a previously worked on file and start deleting layers and moving keyframes, the screen never redraws the interface. As in, if I delete a layer, I don't actually see it go away. It's still there in the interface. Minimizing/maximizing does nothing to refresh the interface.
Since the beginning of nov.2010, it crashes after some time of use. More precisely the toolbar disappears, then reappears, some GUI elements blink. It's not related to a specific user action. When this happens, closing flash is difficult (the window remains here). When switching to another app, some Flash parts remains The graphical memory seems saturated. Launching another app is met with a window error message. A windows restarts becomes necessary.This problem arises only in Flash, and with no other apps from CS3 suite.2 colleagues of mine has the same issue, also in the last weeks (= nov 2010). We work in separate places. We didn't exchange files.We are on Win XP Home Edition, Dell computer.They have more recent PCs than mine (which clearly meets the CS3 requirements), with enough memory,etcOne colleague has reinstalled winXP. The problem arised again, but I don't kow when. He also tried CS4 and CS5 and had the same problem.Today he un-installed all Adobe products with this utility:

View 2 RepliesThis is a computer I am provided with while I work onsite. I am having severe corruption issues. Sometimes the fly out panels appear on the opposite side of the monitor, scroll bars duplicate and appear over the top of my work, and the toolbar just disappears completly until I mouse over each button and force flash to redraw them. It seems to be redraw issues of flashs actual interface, not my work.Not sure how flash renders its own interface, but my .NET framework and java is up to date if that makes any diff.Is this an incompatibility with the video card? I've never seen this before and I wasnt able to find any solutions while googling, or even mentions of this issue, unless I was just searching for the wrong keywords

View 5 RepliesI recently installed the CS5 Master Collection on my MacPro for work. I need to use Flash CS5 in order to work on some projects in the office, however I'm encountering several issues that make it near impossible for me to use the software. First of all, when I start the program and select "New..." and select any type of new file, I'm greeted by nearly every button being greyed out, to where I cannot select them. I've found out that I can make these buttons usable by changing my workspace in Flash.
The issue that's causing me trouble is that whenever I select any sort of "Drawing" tool, Flash CS5 crashes immediately. Whenever I click on the line, pen, circle, rectangle, pencil, or brush tools, CS5 freezes briefly (about 2-3 seconds) and then immediately closes. I can still use tools such as the Pan tool, zoom, text, and selection tool. Also, whenever I select the Spray Can tool, I get the following error:
Unable to load the script. The file <filepath>/ProScripts/sprayBrush.jsx does not exist.
I have already tried updating my system, updating every Adobe product on this machine, reinstalling, and even using a seperate installation CD, but everything thus far has yielded the same results.
Info on my system:
MacPro running OS X V. 10.6
2 x 2.26 GHx quad-core proocessors
12 GB DDR3
As stated in the title an odd blue box appears around my drawing not allowing me to continue with what I was creating. I tried to get rid of it but just dont know how.

When working inside the Flash application every time you right click an item the context menu appears, and when you are near the bottom of you screen and there no enough space for the contextual menu to fully deploy an arrow appears at the very end of the menu to indicate you it continues (in stead of simply deploy upwards).
Now here is the problem: i'm used to the After effects interface and so i like to have the timeline sitting down at the very bottom of the interface, but then when I right click the frames to simply copy or paste keyframes (or whatever) i must navigate through a shortened-with-an-arrow context menu which it slowers my workflow a lot. It would there any chance to always have a "full length" context menu every time I right click on a frame?

But this line DOES work - call an .html file to open.

I can't find any information that says this should or shouldn't work - it seems to me it should open it. To get around this - I have been using 'navigateToURL' to open the pdf file - but that triggers the pop-up blocker - using the External Interface call does not.
We're using External Interface for interfacing between Flash and JavaScript on the HTML page. All works fine online. When we
try to localize the pages though (so that a Salesperson can have a CD full of demos), none of them seem to work.Is this an over-sensitive Flash security issue? We already have allowscriptaccess='always' and swliveconnect=true in the object/embed tags.
What can we do that doesn't require changes on each individual machine to set trust paths or any other kind of browser configuration? Not only do we want to have this content working on the machine of a salesperson, we may get clients that want to deploy content offline (kiosks, machines without any network access).
I am getting an error with RegExp class at my flash document. I am using an Action Script 2.0 at my document. Is RegExp class is not supported in AS1/AS2 ?

I have a project that requires building the project using Scenes to chunk up different sections of an Elearning course.
I have created 20 Scenes.
Each Scene uses the same interface design.
On the Interface there are 6 specific buttons that will allow users to visit 6 instructional areas.
All six buttons will be avialable in all 20 Scenes.
My question is: is it possible to replicate the six buttons across all 20 scenes without having to provide unique instance names for each button in all 20 scenes so that the code to go to a scene will work in each Scene?
Or do I just have to code all 180 buttons individually as I go?
What I mean is for example.
The Lesson 1 button is replicated 20 times. the lesson one button has actionscript to go to the Lesson 1 Scene.
If I replicate the button to another Scene, I have to give it a different instance name, and update the code for that button each time and for all buttons.
I am however hosting an event at the end of this month to which I need countdown timer that counts down 30 minutes from when I begin playing the movie.
00:00:30:00 -> 00:00:29:55 and so on until the movie reaches 00:00:00:00.
If possible.. I'd like that movie to open an additional flash movie once that timer has reached 0, if that can be done. - But for now I'd just be happy with a simple countdown timer that counts down from 30 minutes.
Now I HAVE tried to utilize the various tutorials that are about, the problem is they all seem to be WAY too complex for what I'm looking to do here...As I said all I'm looking for is a flash document that will countdown from 30 minutes once i've opened the movie..
I'm trying to solve an AS 1.0 elapsed minutes. In MS Excell this should be easy but i'm having a hard time in Flash MX. I have an equation such as this:
Start: 1/28/08 9:00 AM
End: 1/28/08 10:19 AM
Duration: 79 mins.
In Excell I can plot this easily such that if Start is in R23 and End is in R25 my equation would be:
R25-R23*1440
and I get the 79 mins as a result.
i have had cs4 for a long time now, and yesterday it suddenly took flash 10 minutes to open a document. i have loaded different documents to see what is the problem and found out it was the documents containing a lot of code (on frame1) that made him almost freeze. it takes ages to open medium size .as files, and even editing normal stage objects takes about 5 times longer. flash takes about 25% of cpu. i reinstalled, restarted, cleared aso, nothing.
View 2 RepliesI'm doing a trial of the CS5 applications and I cannot seem to find out to increase the size of the font on my user interface. I'm finding the default font size to be too small to work effectively and find the commands I need. I've tried Edit->Preferences which is where one typically finds this type of interface option; however, I do not see any way to do this. I've tried adjusting my screen resolution and screen font size and while this affects every other application on my screen, it does not affect Flash Professional.
View 4 RepliesWe're currently developing a small Flash application to display our company's capabilties. This application will be stored on a small USB thumb drive that we give to our potential clients. When the thumb drive is accessed, users will see two folders "Media" and "Other"; and an SWF file entitled "Start." There is; however, one more file that displays: the interface/skin file that we used for our FLV videos (entitled "SkinUnderPlaySeekStop.swf"). If this file is not included in the same location as the main SWF file, the interface/skin will not display on the video.
We would like only the two folders and the main SWF file to be displayed on the root of the thumb drive. Is there anyway to move the interface/skin file into another folder (for example, the "Other" folder) and call it up from that location within the original FLA file?

I made a flash video jukebox, so it reads a dynamic playlist of F4V files for hours. Everything works well but after about 45 min the sound stops and after 2 hours the flash player plug in crashes. It seems like the cache is not accepting more F4V videos and then crashes. If I auto-refresh the browser every 2 hours it works but I would like to avoid having to refresh the browser and just clear the flash player cache if that's where the F4V go? I can't find any info about where the F4V files go when you play them!
Frame 1 gives the variable vidReference the value of the video file name:

am building a site in DW CS4. The site is for a custom nameplate service; once they choose a design and colorway, I'd like to allow customers to preview their name on the sign with, say, 6 different font options to choose from. I've never done any kind of interactive Flash--other than simple mouse actions, so I am at a total loss as to where to get started. Has anybody seen a template that might work?

I need a timer countdown that wont start again everytime a user enters the game I need a timer so all users enter the game at exactly the same time to the second, I've tried to do it using as3 php mysql but there is to much time difference between users how will I do this.
