in CS5 (ancd CS3-4) how do I stop the "Output" panel from showing up automatically each time I test the movie using the Command+Enter keys? I know I have an error but it's a network error which does not effect my clip.

I've never had this happen before and it's stumped me...yesterday the output panel stopped outputting traces ie. 'trace("hello"); is not working! The Omit Traces in teh Publish Settings is not ticked...I'm wondering whether i have accidentally pushed a short cut key which stops this functioning?

I just downloaded Flash CS5 for mac which installed without any errors. However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

I have a play and mute/unmute MC in a timeline instanced as "btn_playMute." The movie clip contains two frames. Each frame contains a button and some AS3. Here's the goal: When the flash loads, a video starts playing with the volume turned all the way down. This video continues, and loops when it gets to the end, ensuring that the volume is all the way down. I'm doing this as such:

I'm just beginning to learn AS3 and I've been reading Colin Moock's Essential ActionScript 3.0.(I've been doing some exercises on how to randomly choose elements from arrays). All of the book's example codes that I've tried so far (in FLASH CS5) seem to work pretty well. But I'm having a bit of problem with the example code below which is found in chapter 11 (Arrays):

Why is the output not displaying the telephoneNum.text, it seems as though it doesn't even see the information that a user types in that field. It is also displaying the message in the incorrect_txt field regardless of what I type in the field.
is it possible to display the output window's contents into a textField so it can be seen in the SWF?

View 0 RepliesI have a long screen shot that I have put in a scroll panel. I want the user to be able to point to a specific field and then have a tool tip fade in, hold for as long as it takes to read, and then fade out onRollout. To implement this I covered all the fields in the scroll panel with a transparent button symbol. Then for each field, I create two moviclips. The first fades in on rollover and stops. The second one starts visible then fades out on rollout.
However it seems that the more of these I do, the more unstable the code gets. In some instances it works just as designed. In other instances somtimes the tool tip doesn't appear, somtimes the fade tween dosn't play. And another issue is that the longer I play the .swf the more unstable it becomes. A snippet of my code for one field/button combination is shown below. I'm very new to AS. How can I Improve the performance?

I have the same code for each field in the scroll panel. I put stop(); as the last statement in the Action layer. All the code and the movie clips reside in the first frame.
I built a flash file( acitonscript3.0),then I added "trace(1);"in the first frame.If I save this file in root of disk ,like C:,when I presse "Ctral+Enter",Nothing in the panel.But if I save this file in a folder like C: est ,when I press "Ctral+Enter",I cant see "1" in the output panel.

This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. Note this doesn't happen with the mx Panel. What am I missing to make the spark behave like the mxSample Code:

I'm running FMS 4 Dev on my win XP SP3 machine, also running flash cs5 professional on same machine. I get the server admin screen to come up and it says it's running. I'm using a tut book on FMS and trying to run the first script in the book. It's long but I'll add the script at the bottom so you can see what i'm doing. In the server app folder I placed another folder called vid2 with nothing in it just like the book told me to do. I wrote the script line for line out of the book. When I test my movie it lays out my video window and buttons. It diplays my ugly mug on the screen. when I press the record button it does nothing. when i press the stop button the output window shows me an error of "#1009 can't access properties or methods of a null object". I assume that this is telling me I do not have a net connection.
when I types in the example it had an IP address in the code.How do I know the correct IP addy to my dev server? If I'm doing development and testing on the same machine do I even need to know this? 2) How will what I'm doing now differ from leasing space from an FMS provider?

I managed to get a youtube embedded into my AS3 Flash site. Plays well enough and in the right box. Gota figure out how to default to 480 or 720 but thats not the problem... see below.
My questions is this: is there any way to stop the video from playing all the way through to Youtubes default end screen where it has the Just Watched and Up Next screen? Either by going back to the thumbnail it uses by default or by sending it to another page on my flash site?
The last thing I want is my viewer wandering away from my site ><.

I have a problem where every time i close flash normally (it's not crashing) and fire it up again, my timeline panel is missing. I have to press ctrl+alt+t or window>timeline to bring it up again and reposition it. What's going on here?
View 10 RepliesI'm presently working with the trial version of CS5 while my work sorts out my new laptop and licence.One thing, hopefully simple, that is confusing me is that I can't find the animation panel. I would like to be able to apply motion presets while changing the properties of the preset. E.g. have a bounce over a longer time, with a shorter vertical drop, etc. Help files say to use the animation panel, Window > Interactive > Animation.But I can't find this. If I look in my Windows menu, I can't find a submenu called "Interactive". How can I find this panel?
