When using the bone tool, I have been fairly successful in working with either a shape or a selection of symbols. However, I am unable to connect a shape to a symbol. Is this possible with the bone tool or am I barking up the wrong tree? If not, is there some sort of work-around when part of the animation is constructed from symbols and part is constructed from shapes?
View 1 RepliesI just installed FMS 4.5 w/ built in apache on Win2008R2 - accepting all defaults. Samples streams play fine when playing on the server. I copied the sample directory and put on a client on the network. I modified the stream URL using the server's IP address. I also modified the manifest files so that localhost was replaced with the server's IP. When I attempt to view in the sample player I get the following:

I have been trying to get my live feed up and running for friends but they are unale to view it. I have FMS 4 with FMLE 3.2 on Win7. Under the fms url i have 'rtmp://localhost/live' and Stream name is 'livestream' I can view the stream just fine from my computer on which i am running both FMS and FMLE. but when i put the html file on my website, my friends just see the empty swfplayer. You can view it at[URL]. I was trying to figure out what the problem was so i copied the swf code 6 times with different settings but nothing worked. on my computer, only the first swf player works and im guessing that is because its localhost.
View 2 RepliesI have installed Adobe FMS 3.5 on an server and inside "applications" folder I have created a new folder say "abc" and restart the FMS service, now when I try to connect to it from Flash using nectconnection it does not get connected and in netstatus event handler there are 2 messages: NetConnection.Connect.Rejected NetConnection.Connect.Closed Although Flash is connecting to 2 folders "live" and "vod" which were created there by default with installation on FMS. I am not able to figure out why it is happening.

I am building an AIR application where I receive UDP messages from Max/MSP using the Socket class. When testing in an internal loopback environment ( messages sent from 127.0.0.1 at port 7400 ) I can see the UDP messages being sent, as in: I can receive the messages I'm broadcasting in Max/MSP by listening to port 7400.However, the AIR app throws IO errors when trying to connect ( via the Socket class, using Socket.connect ) to aforementioned IP and port and I for the life of me can't find out why the app has no access to the internal loopback sending UTP ( if for instance, I start a Apache server at the same IP but at different port, the Socket class connects immediately to that IP - it won't receive data of course, but at least it can establish a connection )I am thinking the problem lies outside of the AS app and is an internal networking issue, I'd like to know if someone has experienced a similar error ( I'm on OS X, btw ) as I don't think it's a security sandbox error ( as the event isn't thrown, and the application type is trusted ).
View 1 RepliesI'm creating an animation kinda like a travel map, x - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - x .where the x's equal the start and the end point, and the dashs are like your direction etc, a good example is if you've ever seen those pirate movies where they have the maps and it shows where they have to go.is if there is a better way to do it than I currently am (Still finding my way around the whole Animation thing - and I'm sure theres an easier way than this!)
At the moment I'm going frame by frame and in adding objects, so for example, in frame one I have my 'x' object, then frame two I pasted the 'x' object plus one 'dash' objects, and so on and so forth, and I have a feeling that doing this is going to take agessss, and I'm sure there must be an easier way! I essentially need the 'x' object to span across ALL of my frames, is there a command or something for this? I'm not too knowledgeable with tweening, but can it be done with that?
I need to create an Flash animation that simulates dots moving like 'flocks' between different areas of the stage. I've created an image to show you what I mean:

My idea is to create a symbol that starts red and goes black when a tweening shape 'touches' it. That way I can create a 'flocking birds' movement effect without having to manually change each symbol for each frame (I would just animate the shape around the stage and the dots would turn black when touched by the shape and return to red when not).
I animated eyes blinking inside of a movie clip symbol and placed the symbol on a face outside of the symbol.The eyes are stuck on the first frame. I am using CS5. What do I do?
View 5 RepliesI can't seem to get the Copyright symbol to display with Myriad Pro. The font embeds properly and displays fine, just the � symbol won't show up. I've tried:
- Embedding an swf with the font embedded in it with the '�' set to be included, when I export it the symbol is there.
- Embedding the otf file for the typeface.
- Tried embedding other typefaces otf files.

I work with Flash Pro allmost 11 hours per day and every while i get a error which messes up everything. Approximetly i get this after about 2-3 hours withevery project.After i get this error there is no chance to test movies afterwards.I see a fast flash of the loader window but it dissapears so fast i cant even really see if it is loader.

I am trying to debug a Flash Web Application using Flash Builder 4. However, I keep getting this error:Unable to connect to the application to fetch profile data. try profiling the application again.I am using Internet Explorer 8 (the same problem also occurs with Internet Explorer 7) with Adobe Flash Player 10.1.102.64 (the Debug Player). In other words, I installed the latest of everything.For my launch configuration, I have used the path to an HTML file. This works fine for debugging but does not seem to work for profiling.

View 1 RepliesI was using CS3 and Flash 8 (macromedia).I am working on a file that was created in maybe flash cs3 or perhaps flash 8, from another developer.It shows tweens on the time line.The developer created fade tweens, with names like "Transform 1" etc.The fades are on symbols (the developer converted jpegs to a symbols)from 100 percent to 0 percent alpha.I can see the fade go from 100 to 0, but I am unable to see the "alpha" properties when I select the symbol or the tween in the timeline.The tween is displayed in the timeline as a line with an arrowhead at the keyframe when the visibility goes to zero.I do not seem to be able to see the properties for the tween, i.e. 100 in keyframe 1, to 0 in keyframe 20.No information shows in the CS4 "Motion Editor".
I created a tween in a layer that I added, and it seems that CS4 no longer show the lines with arrowheads, but uses a different color for the tween range.And I get the motion properties in the "Motion Editor".I am sure it is pilot error here.Since I just installed CS4, etc.How can I view tween properties, like alpha on a symbol created in an earlier version of Flash?
UPDATE: Now I've moved the AMFConnection var declaration to outside the functions in Main, and commented out some trace() commands, and now it gives new errors:

I'm trying to connect to AMFPHP on a server (with Flash AS3), and the swf borks when it reaches the .connect() stage. To make things easier (?) and more reusable (?), I've put all the NetConnection mechanics into a separate class, AMFConnection, which I call from the Main document class like this (details changed):

AMFConnection actually starts the connection and calls the AMFPHP service with the function gogogo(), and here's where the connect() NetConnection function just won't work. Here's the main section of the AMFConncection class

It also fails to display the stage, instead showing the loading dots. Now, eventually I'm going to move this application to the same server as the AMFPHP service, but even when I try it there with a relative url, instead of an absolute one, it still breaks down at connect(). I've tried changing the publish settings from local only to network only, to no avail.
I need to make this site like presentation for my next exam. I found a good template for a slide show. The presentation will be structured like this:
MAIN PAGE with sidebar which links to: slide one with slideshow 1slide two with slideshow 2slide three with slideshow 3slide four with slideshow 4 due to the nature of the code thou i cannot put the different slideshows into the same .swf file in different scenes (i copied and pasted them in each scene and modified the actionscript so they would refer to different pictures) because they will create conflict with each other. now they question is can i use the sidebar to link to different swf files but still make it look like it was just one big swf?

View 2 RepliesI am trying to follow the exercises in the "Classroom In A Book" for Flash CS4 and I am having problems already on exercise 2. the problem is that I can not close the shape, whilst using the pen tool and anchor points. I have tried to make the anchor points extend further than the stage and then clicking on the first anchor point as the book suggests, however, a new line is drawn through the stage, to the first and last anchor point. The problem is I can not add the fill colour.
