I want to create a simple effect, Basically I have an image in an MC. I want to create an MC above it that would contain vertical lines/boxes sliding from left to right and changing size and alpha.So basically random vertical boxes sliding over it.

View 1 RepliesStuck trying to get a pretty simple thumbnail gallery to work: Basically it's just a movieclip of horizontal thumbnails (50 in total, masked so only 10 are shown at a time) with a left and right arrow on the sides, which when clicked should make the thumbs smoothly shift left or right to display the next or previous 10 thumbs (fixed at 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50). They should smoothly ease into place, and the left and right buttons should disable when you reach the left or right limit Is there a simple way of doing this?

I'd like that when the display text become greater, it aligns itself on the right, and let appear all the new characters, making the left ones disappearing. That is to say, it slides from right to left, letting always the right part of the text visible. View 3 RepliesBasically, I have a border(line) at the top of the stage so that whenever my ship's missile comes in contact with this line, it is removed and a rebound missile clip is attached.Here is the missile code:

All I want is to create multiple animated textboxes to slide horizontally from one side of the screen to the other and repeat indefinitely in a loop. Now the 'trick' is that I need the textbox contents to be selected at random from an array and for the speed, size and opacity to vary as well (to give a sense of depth, like the 'Parallax' effect).So, the final effect is multiple random strings of text sliding horizontally across the screen at the same time, some appearing closer than others.I'm positive I've seen this effect explained online before, but for the life of me I can't summon the right keywords to bring up a relevant article in my searches (keep getting lots of text scroller tutorials).If anyone knows of any tutorials out there to accomplish something like the above

View 14 RepliesI'm trying to achieve random motion of my movie clips limited from stage left to stage right. I've read the following tutorials:

both are helpful. However, I don't want mouse position to affect anything (as it does in the 'continuous movement' tutorial). The 'random motion' code is pretty close...if I just knew what part of the code to modify to limit motion from left to right.
I have a column of objects down the center of the stage and I need them to randomly point either to the left or the right. They have been placed using a for loop so I can't point each one individually. I was told I could use Math.random to flip their scaleX position but I can't get it to work.

View 14 RepliesI'm making a program that draws a grid of boxes and the color of the box must be different to those adjacent to the box. My code compares the current box's color to those to the left and top. If any of them matches, it picks another random number (as the color). For the tiles on the first row/column, I make my grid's array indexes with negative numbers -1 so that it will not match.

IT was working in another flash movie, but I moved it to a different flash file and now it's not working. The hit buttons within the movie clip buttons have this action script:

Then I changed some data values to negative and my axis became not aligned anymore.
how to align vertical axis? Is this another Adobe bug or there is some property that aligns axis?

i found i can get vertical dynamic text block by setting to vertical and then to dynamic. But, then it ends up being horizontal, and if inside a clip, only the letters over another item in clip show. Like veritcal text on a vertical bar gives only the 1 or 2 letters that fit across bar, rest truncated. i've tried embedding text to get this far, but still doesn't work 'all the way' i see online they talk about all scripting for dynamic, vertical text; is that necessary, or am i missing something??

My vision is to have a colored square at the top of the site Im working on which should span across the entire browser window. I have created a square 1280 x 100 pixels in size and imported it to the stage, alignment is set to x=0, y=0 ad alignment. The scene is the same size as the square I 've imported. When I view my Flash creation its displayed 8 pixels from the top left corner of the browser window. The flash file only contains the square and nothing else. take a look at the 3 files I've attached: issue-scrreen1-3.jpg. The first 2 screens are my Flash, properties and library screen shots. The third screen shot is my browser window.

panning my content from left to right (with stop as intervals) then right to left (also with intervals)
1. I created an mc (name: "content")Notice in this mc, I layout 4 sets of text (like a page) from left to right
2. I created another mc (name: "pancontent_mc")
-I added a layer for "content" and created a motion tween for it to pan from left to right
-I created a mask layer on top of "content" that will show 1 set at a time
-I created an action layer that has total of 4 stops(); on each frame where the 4 sets of text will show directly under the mask.
3. maintimeline -There's only 1 layer. I placed an instance of buttons (left/right) and an instance of "pancontent_mc"
4. actions for right button, works fine and stops on each set of text.

5. actions for left button - none. I havent figured this out yet.

Is it putting the first random var and then the second, like this?
