Snap A Pen Anchor To Guide / Grid?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to code the snap to grid functionality. The dragged object should snap to the grid if the distance between the object bounds and a grid line is less than 5px. I found a way to do it if the object's rotation is 0 but it doesn't work if I rotate the object. I need a different approach. Can you point me into the right direction with the algorythm or any source code?

View 3 RepliesHow to snap a shape to an isometric grid? The grey piece is draggable and when you release it it should snap to the grid. I know how to snap it to a regular grid but to a isometric grid is imposible I think.
View 11 RepliesThe app allows the user to drag images from a libray onto a grid and position the elements within the grid. The user can also drag textfields which can be edited and resized.The grid needs to have some sort of snap-to, to make it easier for the user to line up the elements. And then I need to create resize handles around both the editable text fields and the other mc's. Has anyone seen a tutorial or can anyone help me with?
1. Drag and drop with a snap to grid
2. Resize handles for mc's, and inparticular textfields
In the end, I need to be able to track all of the x and y's of the elements on stage and then be able to rebuild their layout when it is loaded in a subsequent session. I'm sure this is going to be difficult.
This is my first action script project and I'm having trouble with some positioning of movie clips that I can't work out. I'll post in the parts of the code that I think are relevant in hopes that someone may be able to see what I am missing. The problem is that according to my traces my gridSnap function should be working. The trace shows mc.y to have the correct value while the movie is running yet the mc's in question are appearing in the wrong spot (they appear at GRIDSIZE*gridNumber) in the movie. The problem only manifests itself in case one and case three, both of which should have the same code but I was only testing different approaches in case one. On with the code:

I am currently building a chinese puzzle game called tangram. I am wondering is there any method that I could do to make the movie clips to perform the "snap to grid" effect? i.e. the tangram puzzles being snapped to the pattern. I have tried to draw my own and used the "cacheAsBitmap" function to implement it, however it doesn't seems to be working. I have just written the code for building the grid, but what should I do next to make the snapping action?

View 9 RepliesI'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.

Its an empty grid at the begining, when they start the time start as well.Its a grid of 10 x 10. when they enter the last number, the grid should show what they did wrong and the time they spend. I really like the thumbnail gallery for its simplicity and beauty. But I would like to ad or vertical scroller (I'm unable to find it here too, maybe I'm blind, just I'm more at the end of my seeking options) or a make a grid thumbnails, that will show 2 columns of thumbs and 5 pictures in each columns, then under the 2 columns i would like to ad a sort of arrow or button that if my gallery have more then 10 pictures it will go on the next thumbnail list. I'm not looking for any extra fading effects or special movements. Just would love to have a single thumbnail grid on side, with option to have lists of thumbnails by 10 if there is more then 10 pictures or so.

I have built a grid using an array and for loops and attach movieclips dynamically to that grid. What I want the moviclips to do is to look in the four spaces either side of itself i.e. up, down,left and right.I have managed to pull the grid coordinates out of the grid which enables me to tell the clip which grid space to look at but have been unable to successfully get the code to work.Here is my code:

I have a simple problem, i have only the basic knowledge of AC3 like making simple tweens and doing some if else.
But as you can see, i have a triangle and a motion path. And lets say i need it to tween with an easeIn to the x location of my mouse, so the y location remains on the path, how would i do that?
i am using CS4 on a PC, and I have created my motion guide layers as I normally do, created a path, but when I scrub the playhead, the symbol just goes from point A to point B without follwing my guide. Also they are not snapping to the guide. I have not done a motion guide in a while, what am I missing here. Also where is the pallete to turn on object orienting?
View 1 RepliesI have a bouncing ball movie clip that is being controlled by a guide layer. As the ball bounces I am rotating both the guide layer movieclip and the ball movieclip.
I need to find out where the ball is in relation to the stage. When I look at the balls x and y values they are in relation to the guide layer movieclip.
Is there a way to relate the location of the ball to stage coordinates as it rotates?
I was wondering if there is a way to dynamically add a guide to a movieclip, and then let another movieclip follow this guide.
Put another way: i want a "highlight" movieclip to follow the bounds of another movieclip as shown here[url]...

I received a Flash project from an outside source. In it I found that some library items had these grey, dashed guide lines. It seems like they are used for assigning resize boundaries or something. Anyways, i can't reproduce them in my own library elements nor can I find any information on them.
I'm a beginner in Flash-AS, and I have been spending a lot of time on a (simple?) problem, still I didn't find anything that helps me. Here it is: I would like to place (via ActionScript) an object (let's say a ball) along a curve (free-shaped). The position of the ball is defined by a percentage in relation to the length of the curve : for example, 0% or 100% put the ball at the start or the end of the curve, 50% put the ball exactly at the middle of the curve... I don't need any animation, I just want to place the ball at the initialisation.

View 8 RepliesHow do I move a graphic symbol along a motion guide dynamically. The guide is on a lyer of an mc residing on the _root. The graphic symbol is just below on another layer. The effect is to have the graphic symbol (a ball) appear to move randomly from the start of the motion guide a random distance along the motion guide and then change directions randomly. So the symbol would move a random number of points in one direction along the path then change direction and move a random number of points in the other direction while never actually leaving the stage.
The motion guide is NOT to be removed or drawn dynamically as it is the exact shape of the landscape in an image I use in the background of the overall animation so either the timeline needs to be manipulated for that mc or the symbol that is moving along the motion guide needs to be directed along the path dynamically.I tried the following code which I placed in the first frame of an action layer of the mc (mc resides _root) just above motion guide layer and it did not solve
