First, just to give a visual idea of what I'm after, here's the closest result (yet not exactly what I'm after) image that I've found:[URL] BUT, it doesn't exactly solve the problem I'm after. I would like to store an array of points of a very specific spiral algorithm. I have been tasked with trying to create a drawing tool that draws dotted lines as you drag the mouse across the stage. I can easily capture the points on MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE and store them in a vector and then draw the points as dots:
The problem is that I need to calculate evenly distributed points on an ever growing Vector of points so I can only draw the line between say every 5th point (say using modulus). I have been battling away with Bezier curve equations both Quadratic and Cubic but still can't quite figure out how to convert my Vector of points into an evenly distributed Vector of Points without sucking the life from the CPU.

iSo let's say I have three different arrays of objects, and I want to combine them into one sorted array. I want the order to be such that the items from each array are evenly distributed throughout the sorted array.
If there were 3 xItems, 3 yItems, and 3 zItems, the sorted array would have this order: x, y, z, x, y, z, x, y, z
HOWEVER, even if the arrays are differing lengths, I still need to make them alternate as much as possible. If there were 6 xItems, 4 yItems, and 2 zItems, the sorted array should have this order: x, y, x, y, x, z, x, y, x, y, x, z

I'm trying to create a "spiral" or "vortex" image. (not a movie, but an image)Basically, what I want is to get an image, convert it to a symbol, and then run the script. The script should take that image and automatically make it repeat 1000 times, rotating slightly each time, getting slightly smaller each time, and moving slightly toward the center each time. (So it would start on the outside rim, and get slowly smaller as it moves towards the center of the vortex.)
So the end result would look like million of your image, vortexing into infinity.I think this would be easy for someone (with better skillz than me) to program. So I figured it probably already exists out there somewhere. Does anyone know where I can download such a program? (freeware preferred, obviously)

I'm trying to develop a website in flash where the main content will be delivered as "pages" in a spiral bound notebook. In simplist terms, i want to have the image of a spiral bound notebook with "tabs" on the side that will "flip" to the selected page. When it flips, the page on top will "flip around" just like if you were holding a spiral bound notebook. that will reveal the requested "page" where each "page" contains a text box that gets its content from an external html file.
the part that i really need help with on is the page flipping. i have searched everywhere, but can only find "catalog" style flipping - which i dont want. i want only 1 page to be shown at a time with the "rest" laying underneath.

I have an application developed in Falsh (EXE) that is to be distributed on CD-Rom and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on protecting the application from copying.Is there a way within the dev environment I can "stamp" it to prevent copying, or another technique?I don't mean using getDate(), getMonth(), getFullYear(), etc.I have used this to create an expiry date on versions that are being distributed, which then shows an out of date message (which can be easily worked around with the system clock unfortunately).But I wish to protect the disk from being copied, and wondered if there was any techniques from within Flash to do so.Glass mastering and watermarking is not viable as it'll only be a very small duplication run (10, maybe 20 disks).Alternatively, are there any stable utilities that anyone has used (and recommends), prior to me investigating available commercial copy protection software?

I have recently created a game in Flash CS3 with AS3 which displays a random picture (this is a pretty integral part of the game).I have written a small procedure to resize the picture to an appropriate size for the flash application. This is as follows:

This resizes the picture when it is fully loaded. This seems to work fine on my own site, but on the sites to which mochi ads has distributed it, it doesn't resize the image at all, even if it is left to fully load.

I modified a 3D spinning carousel that loads images by an external XML file to give it a 2D circle look. Then I took out all the code for the movement so it would remain stationary, but kept the code to adjust radius etc.This is great, except now the client would like the icons to be displayed in a spiral instead of a circle. I'm not the greatest when it comes to mathWhat do I need to change or add etc in order to get the images to display in a spiral (say starting in the middle and spiraling out clockwise)? Do I need to add more math in the sin and cos parts? or maybe there is a much simpler way to do this?In the flash file, I have a 600x600 pixel stage with this code on the first frame:

I am resizing my .swf file according to browser size using AS3. It is working fine. But problem occurs only when an object goes x=-300 (x, or y but in negative numbers) on stage. Means when the object goes up the stage or down the stage, everything on stage shrinks and looks very bad.

I am starting to learn how to use Flash. I am trying a simple exercise of creating text, breaking it apart, then distribute the objects to layers. When I do this, the layers in the timeline box appeared not in order, intead of Top to Bottom, the letters appeared Bottom to Top (See attached picture).

I am building an 8 track Flash audio mixer where the sounds for each track are selected by the user from a list component and then loaded into a Sound variable at runtime.This can be done while the mixer is playing or stopped, and of course, it adds a lot of flexibility for making music.All actionscript is in external .as files and sounds are looped using the SOUND_COMPLETE event.So far, all loading/playing functions work perfect, but I`m having problems with gaps at the beginning/end of my mp3 files.I was told this was an inherent problem with mp3 files, so I tried using MPTrim to clean the silence up.I also tried starting the loop a bit late - sound.play (80, 1) - but the results are usually inaccurate and unpredictable.
When I import a wav file into the library and then export it as an mp3 file embedded in the .swf file, it sitll has a short gap.When I built a previous mixer in Flash MX (actionscript 1) there was no gap and all sounds looped perfectly! Of course, in this later case, all sounds were embedded inside movie clips on the stage and scripting was done on the timeline, so maybe that made a difference.I have spent long nights trying to find a solution to this, but to no avail.I read a blog where the writer went through all the steps I have and just gave up, but I know there is a solution.I have seen this sort of thing done on Flash mixer sites before (even sites with full-on audio sequencers) so I know it can be done.

and i delete the second the value. is there anyway to stop it looking like this:

I have made up a snakes and ladders drag and drop board to use with interactive whiteboard in my class. It is only 2 frames, one with the intro and the other with the board. The squares with snakes or ladders are movieclips (target1, target2 etc). The contestant images are movieclips. Which drag and drop, when they hit the target they move. It was working fine, but now every time I test it I get the following error message. I don't know how to solve it as I have looked everywhere.

Does anyone know of a way to specify different vertical gaps between siblings in a Tree? I want to child nodes spaced tighter together (maybe 10px) while the top level parents remain spaced further apart (20px). Essentially, I need to change the gap dynamically based upon the depth of the node, but I'm not sure if the Tree class (or the List class, which Tree extends) offers this type of functionality.

I have a Flex line chart where I allow the user to change the y axis ranges. When a data point falls outside the ranges, the chart drops the line segments on either side of the out of range point leaving a gap in the data line. I'm currently using the data function to clamp the values out of range to the y axis min/max, but this displays misleading data.

I have created a tile list with custom item renderer and in terms of functionality it works as it should. I reduced the width and height of the item renderer to 95% which then shows the tile lists background in the remaining 5% of that item. The problem is that only when I hover over the item, the background is covered up and I cant get a gap to appear between items. Is it possible to change the height and width of the hover over?

I need a bit of help with an issue I am experiencing. I am trying to load external swfs on menu link clicks, inside my main movie. However, the external swfs are taking 8-10 secs gap in loading inside main swf.
The external swfs fetch data from a mysql database. My question is - Should I load the external swfs at the time of loading the main menu to override this problem? The concern here is that it might take longer for the main movie to load then.

I'm trying to make a nice trail effect for a drawing/particle thing. I've got it working pretty nicely except that when you draw/move the mouse too quickly gaps appear between the particles. Increasing the frame rate doesn't help. so I'm not really sure what the best way to go about this is?
