I have this homepage,[URL] and two separate .swf files. I want the top .swf, the skip bar, to stop the bottom video. Is there anyway to do this? Note I have no way to edit the original video. I wouldn't mind using a javascript solution but would rather target it with AS3 if possible.
View 1 RepliesHow can I stop my Logo.swf file from looping. Actually the external Logo.swf file doesn't contain any looping code inside it. If I open it in any flash player it animates only one time. Writing "stop();" in code stops all other animations which I don't want.

I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?

I turn to you for help, dear sweet Kirupa Forumites. First, let me explain the problem: I have a flash file reading an external text file for the content. Everything works perfectly for nearly everyone - you click a menu button, and the content text comes up fine. However, a couple of people have found that the text shows up as "undefined". I have checked the player versions of the people where it doesn't work, and it is the same as for those where it does work, so that ain't the problem.
I don't understand why it works perfectly for nearly everyone, but a small number of people have this "undefined" text problem. It seems to be a problem with loading the external text file, but I don't know why. I have a main flash movie, and load the text in the first frame, using the following:

I then have a couple of dynamic text boxes in the main movie - one called ErrorText (for displaying an error message to the user) and one called ContentText (for displaying the content). I use an external menu swf which jumps to a specific frame in the main movie, depending on which button is clicked. Actionscript on the main movie frame for the first button does the following, with the other frames similarly configured:

My external text file is properly configured (content1=blah blah&content2=other blah blah) etc.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can solve this particular weird problem??

In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf

When i play it it autoplays (that's fine) but it also keeps repeating over and over, i'd like it to stop at the end and just display the end frame (as mentioned i converted a movie so i cant do it with actionscript in the .fla file).

View 1 Repliesi want the .SWF file to be opened but not donwloaded until a button is pressed but don't know ho to do that..on frame 1 i have an object (movieclip) that consists of a logo with a blur effect.. after 1-2 seconds the blur effect goes away and you can see the logo. the logo itself is a button that send's the user to the next frame in the main scene.on frame 2 of the main scene i have a preloader that shows the percentage of the loaded page and a progress bar .. everything works great
the problem is that when you open the swf it starts downloading the hole flash site and when you press enter the site is already loaded and you can't see the progress bar of the preloader..i want only the 1 frame of the main scene to be loded, then i want i to stop loading (downloading) the SWF file until enter is pressed.when enter is pressed i want the flash site to be loaded and so you can see the preloader in action..can i put some code on the action layer on the 1 frame that stops loading the movie (the first frame is loaded and the blur effect of the logo plays).and another code on the second frame (where the preloader is visible) that starts the donwloading again?
I am working on controls for an external swf. The external swf loads an external sound file. The structure at the moment is extswf.swf contains mcSound which loads soundfile.mp3. extswf.swf automatically starts playing when invoked. movieController contains the icons for the play/pause buttons. This is assigned CntlClass. CntlClass loads extswf.swf and controls the play and pause buttons.
So far, the play and pause buttons stop and start and stop the movie but not the sound. I know I need to access the sound channel from the external swf and use the sound transform to change the volume. How to access that channel is unknown. The examples I find have imbedded sound files. Also, the examples seem to use the main class for the external swf. My external swf doesn't have a class file, so I have no idea what the main class would be.
how to put mp3 which is just speaches done, be put alone in a flash file. Do i have to import sound? View 4 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.

I have both documents and when I play the .swf in the player it works fine but when I import the Flash into Dreamweaver the .txt file doesn't appear in the flash.I have to get this site to launch by Friday and I have about 20 of these files to sort out.

how to create save files for flash games. So far, so good. But here's the problem: To improve game loading performance, I was thinking of loading external flash files. Instead of building everything inside the same .fla file, I have one main .fla file, and one or two other .fla files loaded when needed.
The flash I want to load happens to be this mini computer used for puzzle solving and can unlock new applications. And this is my problem: I want to create a save file for the game -and- for this mini computer, which is an external flash file, so it keeps track on many apps have been unlocked. Save the progress from both the main game and the mini-computer. Is it possible? Or is it better to make everything inside the same .fla instead of multiple .flas?
TL;DR: Is it possible to create a save game for a flash game AND its external flash files being loaded in the same game? If so, how can I make it happen?

Got a pitcular problem/question and im not sure it is possible. Im creating a project that enables the viewer to access a load of files (Pdf's and doc's) through flash. The problem is, these files will be added to and taken from about 4 times a year and there is anywhere from 2 to 20 folders in each folder containing these files.so What I want to do is have an image that when clicked on opens a new box that has links in it that these links are displayed from an xml or html then I need to have that code tell flash to open another box that has links displayed from another XML of HTML that has the links to the actual files being called.i guess the question is:Can flash be controlled by a link called from out side of flash?
