I'm trying to build a flex project, linking it to some RLSs. When setting up the project in Flex Builder, the corresponding "build configuration" (that I got by adding -dump-config to the compiler options) generates (among other things) a tag like this :

I want to reuse the TitleWindow's closeButton inside a simple Flex component I am writing, but I'm having trouble getting it to compile. I copied the code that deals with the closeButton, which looks somewhat like this:

If I create a Flex Library project, am I able to use Flex classes from within the library?
The reason I ask is because I'm working in a Flex Library project and trying to use the mx.rpc.soap package. I can import the the package without an issue, and even get code hinting making me think the package is available. Of course I can even see the swcs included in the project. However, when I try to instantiate the WebService class, I get an error when building. Flash Buidler IDE doesn't tell me what the error is, and I don't go into debug mode when I continue with building. I haven't tried connecting to the service yet, just importing the Class and creating a new instance.
I'va been monkeing with this lib : Ravis.It a librari on .swc, someone know how to use or configure this library on NetBeans 6.5?
View 1 RepliesI hope I would not waste your time too much. I am going to publish my Adobe Flex library to sell in commercial, but I don't need anyone can open my SWC file and study the code in there. I see Adobe Flex library can prevent this activity. How could I do this too?

I would like to use BitmapAsset class inside CS3 or CS5.I know that the class is somewhere inside flexSDK library (I use version 4.1). So is it possible to use flexSDK for "flash purposes" ?

Is there any good way to do this? I can't simply include the Javascript, as it is not close enough to ActionScript to compile... but is there a good converter that will do it for me? Lastly, I don't want to use the Browser for this.I know that I can always use ExternalInterface to access the browser, but I am not always running my Flex app in the browser... sometimes it is Air, and sometimes it is in a PDF.

View 2 RepliesI am working in two different applications, one to be compiled for desktop use (AIR) and one to be compiled for the web. They are part of the same project and use the same visual components, but they are completely different apps. When a visual component is changed in one application then it should also change in the other one. Is this a good situation to use a shared library fla? I am new to the concept of shared libraries and I am considering the options.
On one had I would not have to update 2 applications everytime I change something, on the other, I would always have to recompile the library folder when I do the smallest changes to a component.

View 1 RepliesI'm developing a module based applications in Flex and I was thinking about moving all my Value Objects (VOs) into a library project
Current Structure: I have a project that consist of a shell application and 3 modules. The modules contain about 10 custom components in each that are dynamically loaded at run time. My problem is component A ( in module A) needs to pass data to component B (in module B). So when this happens I move the VO that component A was using to a common folder. I then pass the VO and have component B pick that up and do what ever it needs to do with it.
So what I was thinking was using an existing library project and adding all my VOs to it. This way I'll never have to move a VO from the module to a common folder so both module A and module B can access it. The basic idea is I want to be able to complete abstract any module from shell into its own widget or Air app with out depending on any other modules.
I would like to build a flex library project automatically instead of the current process, which involves one of our developers compiling it on his machine and then us checking in the resulting .swc file. It's gross. I am coming at this from the perspective of a java developer, so I'm having a hard time getting the hang of the compilation tools provided in the Flex Builder 3 application, but here's what I already have: I have created an ant file that loads the ant task library correctly, and can therefore execute <mxmlc/> and <compc/> tasks.
I have located the source code that I need to build, and know what sort of .swc I want to end up with. What I want is an ant script that will do the equivalent of these steps: We build all sources (actionscript and MXML) and assets in the project into an swc file. View 3 RepliesI'm working on a general code library for ActionScript 3.0 called as3lib which includes several extensions to the core API and some useful functions. I've written several unit tests (using FlexUnit) to make sure everything is working correctly.
What is the best way to organize these tests in the library? Currently, I have all my code in src/ and my tests in test/ but I've set up a secondary Flex project to run the unit tests. I am also manually adding and removing the test files from the library when I want to run the tests.
Preferably one where the compiled library doesn't include the test files but I don't need two separate projects to test them.

View 1 RepliesIn the Flash authoring environment I can edit a library symbol and all on-stage instances based upon it reflect the changes. How can I do the same thing in ActionScript? There seems to be no way to address a library symbol.
For example:Inside Flash CS3, I have created a Square.swf file that has 100 instances of the library symbol Square.
Now, Square.swf is loaded into another file BlueSquare.swf and I want to change the Square symbol into a blue square so that all instances of Square become blue.How do I do this using Actionscript?
I want to have a canvas with some "floating" property. Basically when I add child to it, the child should float at the top. When I add the second child, it should float above the previous one. For example the canvas width is 100, and I have two VideoDisplay with width 100 and height 75.

I am embedding a flash file in my flex file and then trying to add it to the stage. IU try addChild to a canvas element and to a container element, but it keeps giving me the error, the symbol "myBtn" is cannot be converted to a IUIcomponent.
I understand that I need to place everything inside some sort of component, but what is the proper way to do this in flex?
