Actionscript 3 :: Movieclip Loaded In Container Reports Exaggerated .width Value?

I am trying to load a swf(as3) into another As3 Swf with the Movieclip loader. After loading however Loader.width/loader.content.width returns an exaggerated value than the actual width of the swf being loaded. Any pointers on where to begin looking for the discrepancy?
More Details (if it helps)
The swf being loaded has UI components like dropdowns, input boxes and combo boxes (its a Form to fill up), and a coded one-time tween. When the child MC loads into the parent movieclip, the Loader.width value returned is exaggerated by about 28 pixels (although the height remains the same). Loader.content.width also returns a 28 pixel exaggerated value. The Exaggerated value is more than even the stage width of the child MC. The extra ~30 px are upsetting subsequent code in the parent movie to scale and center the loaded swf.

stage.stageWidth returns the correct Value.Code used in the parent MC, to load external SWF:

On the stage I have a movieclip (Container, originally 200px width) and inside it with a progressbar movieclip (originally 700px width), scaled with Free Transform Tool to fit the parent container. The width of the container changes run-time while resizing the scene.
In ActionScript I have a function which should set the progress bar width according to a calculated percentage value:

}
My problem is that the progressBar even at full time (100%) is only at 1/4 of the parent container. I assume that it comes from the symbols original size.
Can I correct this programatically, or I must redesign it with the "designer"?

In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:

And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.

Running into an issue where the if I add a Bitmap image into a movieclip the bitmap will appear slightly Blurry.When I add the Bitmap directly to the scene it appears normal. Is their a property for a movieclip that would explain this behavior? or is their some other solution to keep bitmaps from becoming blurred?

I have one swf called main.swf which has a container movieclip that gets external swf's loaded into it.
my external swf is called hosting and it calls an array of data that is loaded into a movieclip that is duplicate for each element from the database. The elements from the database are as follows:
Business
Economy
Power
Standard
Each one of these has a button over it that when press loads information from the database into a movieclip that contains a textbox. My button code is: _root.movieclip.loadVariables("url to database");
This works flawlessly when I run the hosting.swf by itself, but when it is loaded into the contianer in the main.swf the buttons dont work. I believe that it is the _root in the button call that is causing this but I dont know how to fix it. I think the _root variable changes when hosting is loaded into the main.swf.

I'm doing an image gallery from xml file, and the thumbnails have diferent sizes. Around the thumbnail there is a border, both are diferent movie clips (thumb and border). they reside inside a main movieclip wich is being duplicated.
So I need to resize the border according the new size of the thumb movieclip, but flash actually gets the value from the starting value of the thumb, not the size after the file was load on to it.
I just thought flash would read the new value if i set the var for the width after the load movie, but that ain't happening =(.

I am loading an image into a movie clip via AS3, and what I want to do is center the image inside the movieclip. The problem is that I can't seem to grab the width value of the image being loaded. Below is what I'm doing:
imageLoader = new Loader();
imageLoader.load(new URLRequest(event.target.name));
screenBox.screenHolder.addChild(imageLoader);
trace(this.imageLoader.width);
When I trace the width, it always comes back at zero(0) even though there is an image inside the imageLoader. What is it I need to do to find the actual width so I can center the image?

I am loading jpgs into an MC. I make sure I wait to run and modification to the MC by confirming the image is loaded first.If I comment out the IF statements within the function "RW_pic_modifications()" and I trace the width and height of the MC AFTER each photo is loaded, I successfully trace the correct W and H.
My issue, however is when I DO RUN IT THROUGH the conditions within the "RW_pic_modifications()" function. Then any modifications to the MC W and H seem to compound and apply it to each iteration of the next MCs.I confirmed that my code and logic is correct. I just dont understand why performing a resize to the MC with one jpg loaded into it is not reset to the NEW JPG loaded into it, after the new JPG is loaded.
NOTE - I have an MC that stops on a frame until all the code here is executed. Once complete, then this MC plays to allow the pic to stay on screen for a given amount of time THEN it calls on the RW_Pauser() function.I am way over deadline.

I have a Movieclip on stage with nested movieclips inside. All referenced at 0,0. None of the child movieclips load any dynamic content, animate or have Masked Layers. It does have an input textfield in one of the child MCs. The parent MC shows 280 px width, while it returns 313 px with a .width trace. There is no code that alters the .width value of the parent MC at run-time. And the ParentMC on stage is not scaled (it is at 100% width/height)

I have a root folder that calls a container loading movie-a. The problem is that this movie-a has a red symbol that scrolls from the outside to the inside of the movie. If I loaded the movie-a by itself it wouldn't show the symbol outside but as this is inside a root... well... it shows (see image). Is there a way to set container width-height? I know I can mask it but I don't want to to that because I have other symbols flying around the movie.

I know this might seem like such an easy issue and I can't understand why I cant figure it out but none the less I can't and I've just about given up. Here's the issue:
I have a sprite container which is supposed to hold a bunch of thumbnails to videos. I am able to populate the container with all the videos and the whole works but obviously if I add a bunch of videos its going to exceed the size of the flash document so I need to add a UIScrollBar (which I did) now the scrollbars target is set to the container but isnt allowing me to scroll and if im correct this is because the container doesnt have a set height. So Im trying to set the height of this container but the second I try setting the height or even width all my thumbnails I used to be able to see are gone! It's as if the size is being set to 0 when its not I've even tried to set it to a specified size just to test and nothing.

I've got a container(sprite) with children(sprites) added to it. When I scale the container, I would like to get the new width of a child, but when I trace the children's width I always get the original dimensions, even though everything gets visually scaled as it should. How do I overwrite the children-width ?
Update: I just found out that the children.graphics-"dimensions" could have caused the problem. When I leave the graphics, everything seems ok. Is it possible to scale the graphics at same time as the child-sprite?

I have spent nearly a day on this now, searching everywhere, but never found anything. This is my desperate attempt to get my problem solved. I have a container (ContentHolder extends Sprite), which holds another container (Content extends Sprite) which has a TLFTextfield in it.
Now when I resize the ContentHolder, its children get resized too. I have overridden set width and set height in the Content class, because I need the Content to resize differently than just scale. I want the TLFTextfield width to adjust to ContentHolder width, while maintaining font size. So ideally the TLFTextfield would set different line breaks, according to the width of ContentHolder.
I really have no idea how this can be achieved. One solution may be to create a new TLFTextfield instance with the updated height and width values, but that could look messy when drag-resizing the ContentHolder..

I've got the following situation, where I have an outer Vbox that is set at a fixed width, and then inside it there is a header made from an HBox and a content area (Canvas) that is much wider than the enclosing VBox (and therefore requires scrollbars on the outer VBox to see it all).
I would like to set the width of the header to fill the entire width of the outer container, but only the visible part, and to remain fixed so that when I scroll to view the content, the header doesn't move.

How can I limit the size of a child container with percentage width/height of 100%?
Example:

The thing is: I have got 5 movieclips which are able to drag and drop. Next to that I've got 20 containers which are all droptargets. The movieclips are able to be dragged and then dropped on a container. So far so good. But what I want is that when I drop a movieclip on a container which already has a movieclip dropped on it, the first movieclip gets removed and the second movieclip is dropped on the container. Or you could also say.. that the second movieclip replaces the first movieclip. This instead of the fact that a container has multiple movieclips dropped on itself.

scrolling TN that I purchased for $10. I want to create many different galleries (many swfs) using this XML gallery and then load them into a container inside a "master gallery swf" if that makes sense.The problem I am having is that the swfs are getting re-sized smaller when loaded in the container (maybe 70% of the original size) even though the container and swfs have the same dimensions.I've actually had this problem before where a swf displays smaller, even if it's just inserted into an HTML page. I'm wondering if there is a simple solution

I have a main swf that will load external swfs into a container. I need to detect the end of the loaded external swf in order to start to load and play a new one into the same container. The problem is that i do not know what the length of the external swfs will be, and will have no control over the development of them, so i cannot place a variable at the end of their animation which would allow me to detect from the main movie its end. I also cannot rely on the _totalFrames property because the loaded swf might not have all the animation inside its main timeline.

I need a fairly foolproof way to check from a child swf whether it is loaded into a container swf through a loader object or if it is just loaded through html. I would like to do this without requiring a flashvar or any kind of function call from the parent swf that may be there. Any quick and simple solutions? I have a container on the stage in which a swf is to be loaded when you click a button. This works fine when the content of the .swf being loaded into the container does not have content floating outside of its stage, this is a problem for me because the .swf being loaded in has content that exceeds the width of its stage, but is masked. The masked content on that page will be made visible when the user mouses over the masks. So its essential that the .swf being loaded in exceed the dimensions of its stage.
Initially, when I click a button that is a child to the menu_mc, the swf loads into the container correctly, but when I MOUSE_OUT of the menu_mc the content within the swf scales to reflect any content that exceeds the width of its stage. I'm not sure if this is the result of the way I am the loaded swf. The swf is designed to scale up and down when the user MOUSE_OUT or MOUSE_OVER of the menu. The menu is designed to be hidden when not in use.Here's my code:

Additionally, I ran into a problem when I moused over the buttons that are children to the menu_mc. Whenever I rolled over them the content in the menu would hide itself off stage. In the MOUSE_OVER function of the buttons, I provided y coordinates for the other movie clips to prevent them from moving off stage. For the sake of better coding practices, would there have been a much more appropriate coarse of action.

I'm trying to somehow target a MC being loaded into an empty container MC. I've tried everything I could think of.
Basically, I'm making a movie editor. Right now clips are added to the stage on initial load, then when they are clicked on they are added to the "reel" and they can be previewed in the order that they are added. Now, I'm trying to get it so that when they are on the "reel" they can be click and dragged and rearranged.
Here's how the clips are added to the stage in a function called loadClips():

i'm a designer trying to step up my flash skills and have a scripting problem that's causing me trouble. essentially i have a child swf loaded into a container in a parent swf and want the child to be able to instruct the parent. to explain in full, the child contains an flv with bespoke video player components. it's container sits in one frame of the parent. when the flv finishes playing, i need the parent swf to move onto another frame.
as it's a controllable flv, it isnt possible to predict the exact length of time the child will need to be present, so it literally needs to tell the parent it's finished playing at that very point.
