I've got an ActionScript 3 project in FlashDevelop. How can I embed an FXG file and use it? I've tried to import the file directly (import graphics.Filename) and instantiating it, but doesn't draw anything.
View 1 RepliesI built an AS3 image gallery using FlashDevelop. Before I zip up the application, I can run the image gallery in my browser by simply opening the index.html for the project. Everything works perfectly. I then zip up the project as proj-0.1.2.zip using winrar. I then unzip this newly created zip and try to load the application using the project index.html like above. The gallery doesn't function properly. From seeing what happens, it appears as though the image metadata is not present(but I'm not sure, see below).
There are other applications as well that are broken. Videos don't load. If an application doesn't depend on any external assets then everything looks fine. Another thing..If I then build the FlashDevelop project and republish the swf..then it works in the index.html like I want. What is going on here? I want people to be able to fire up my demo apps out of the box by just running the index.html. If that doesn't always work and they have to figure out that they need to rebuild the SWF then that's pretty bad.
I'm migrating a FlashIDE Actionscript 3.0 project to Flashdevelop Actionscript 3.0 (Pure AS). I've noticed that assets importing and project structure are different. What are the other things to lookout for when doing a migration?

I've created a short text (a word) in photoshop with the blending options I prefer and now it's all done I would like to paste it into my flash project. The problem is I can't get the text to be transparent in the flash, I always see the white background which is not very nice since the background on which the text will show is actually a picture. How to make this text transparent? In photoshop I started a new transparent project. Copying from a .GIF file also doesn't work...

View 7 RepliesI'm trying to create an as3 project that dynamically pulls images from a database and sticks them into the framework of a flash movie that I making with this. Currently I am following a tutorial (in as2, and I am converting it to as3 as I go along) and am trying to get images to load from the same directory as the project, but I am having issues with the Loader. My flex (flash builder 4) project references (embeds) a flex library project (ReusableFx). I have it working fine when it builds and runs, but I am struggling with a Design mode error "Design mode: Error during component layout...". In the flex library project there is a 'default.css' file which references a png file. Specifically like this:

It works when I build and run, I see the icon, but the problem is that design mode must work different in flash builder and breaks with this line. I tried a few things with no difference:

Is it possible (or, what is the best way) to preload the whole project first, including the external SWFs?

With parent artifactId of swf, swc, war set to swf, swc, test respectively.On executing mvn on test folder(for that matter clean or anything) I get this following error.

View 1 RepliesI have been programming with as3 for the past 4 months and Ive been getting rather good at it. I just recently decided to work with flashdevelop. I notice that there is alot of code that is availible in the flex sdk that isn't available in as3 with flash cs4. Like embedding of assets and such. I've been trying to find some up to date tutorials on how to embed things like xml and so far the tutorials are inaccurate or unclear about how to go about doing so. Ive been trying to find some good books that cover that and havnt been able to.
The books either cover as3 with flash or as and flex builder. Which is more towards working with the mxml. I havnt been able to find any books on how to work with as3 and flex sdk. Which show examples like embedding of xml and so on. I was just curious does anyone know of any good books that cover EVERYTHING there is to know about as3 and the flex sdk. Not so much on flex builder and mxml.
In a sense, I just want to get better with working with as3 projects with flashdevelop. And it would be great if there was books that covered that. Cause lets just face it, We developers sometimes just get sick of searching the web for bits of pieces of things. and its just great to have that one good book that references everything.
