In my application I need to load PDFs dynamically and store each page of the PDF. Currently what I'm doing is converting each page to an image using some php code and then importing each image to flash, but I was wondering if there is a better way. Or is converting to images then importing to flash the best option?
View 2 RepliesI have 20 different flash files that i need to play randomly when a user enters a zip code. I am done with the project, but the way I have done it is I think could have been done a lot better. I have 20 different aspx files that have the flash object. I redirect users to different aspx files based on the random number using Random class. Is there a way to just have one aspx file where the param value and data could be passed using a variable. That way, its easier to maintain and i don't have to go to 20 different aspx files to update anything. Here is what the flash object looks like.

I have a flash site that has four pages which all stretch to fit window size.As soon as I go to a gallery page that is called in via SWF, and come back, I loose my dynamic stretching of all my pages...I would like the SWF page to stretch to fit also, and its isn't.
View 2 RepliesI have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic.The flash video loops every 30 seconds.As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded.Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.
View 1 RepliesIm working on a website for school, and im doing it through flash. The server ive been given is being taken up by thousands of pages, so its slow. Instead of loading each page through HTML, ive decided i could do a seperate frame for each page. However, to reach the menu at the bottom, you have to scroll down. Is there any way to make it so that when you click a button to load a different page for the flash player to scroll up all the way to the top of the page itself?
View 1 RepliesI've been tasked with making a fairly simple Flash presentation that will be published to an exe and put onto a jump drive. I've done this before and at the time I just used the getURL command (IIRC) to open a PDF with a button click. I literally have 100's of PDFs to link to so I was wondering if there is a better way to do it (before I start using my old method) I'm using AS3 in Flash CS5. And I am NOT a big Flash user so maybe I just need to resort to the way i did it last time. Was just thinking there might be a more elegant way to approach this...that a novice could handle.

1- How do I get the text to be selectable in the PDF created from FTE > postscript method
2- (If not that) - How can I create a PDF from flash where the PDF is identical to what I'm seeing on screen - basically doing a direct final-rendered-Sprite to PDF .... if there's a way to make that PDF manually, then maybe I can embed the fonts manually...
Some context:
- How we're using fonts - they're SWF's created from teh fonts using [embed] and embedAsCFF=true for use in FTE
- I thought of using FTE only for typesetting / layout - and when we get the TextLines, using the good old flash...TextField (which does become selectable in final pdf) .... but I cant do that because some of our textlines have several variations of font styles and inline (GraphicElement) images on the same line.... I think its impossible to detect all of those variation can create the appropriate number of textfields?
What is the best way to create functions dynamically and store them inside an Array? Obviously the bellow is wrong since the array will always trace the last value of the variable "v" (5)

I have a flash movie with a button to 'view items in new browser window.' These items are all dynamically generated in flash. So the html has to be dynamically generated as well. Can any sugest a way to do this? Do I need to use php or some server side script?

I have to create a web page which can be set to full screen(I mean the real full screen,not like press the F11),in the full screen there should be some words displaying.

Normally,it show its contents(the questions),but someday,maybe a VIP come to visit the page,so we want to replace the whole page with a welcome screen.
Of course we can replace the [URL] (suppose it is the index page) with the welcome text(welcome xxx to our site...) in the server side.
However this is not convenient,and the text can not be full screened.
So I thought the flash,I can add a controller button at the page,when required,I click this button,and set the welcome words,then a flash will start to play with the sepcified words in a full screen model. It would be better if the flash can show the text with a Animation.
I have never did the flash development,so I want to know if this is possible?
BTW,can all the clients change to flash with juse one click?
I mean I click the controller button,then all the client who is visit this page should see the contents replaced by the flash at the same time.
I have 3 issues i've not been able to figure out how to do:
1) I've not been able to dynamically resize the pages to fit the stage dimensions as it changes, the content MC gets placed into the stage with this code line

i have also set the stage to
stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
but i cannot figure out a way to dynamically target "ContentMc" from the document class, it either disappears or looks squashed.
2) second issue is that the "hit area" for the mouse is too wide, meaning that if you click almost half way up the page it activates which restricts the amount of usable content area for links and such, how can i reduce it to the lower corners?
3) how can i add other MCs to specific pages from the document class?

View 3 RepliesI'm going to show a bunch of images in a slideshow.Since everybody hate waiting for things to load, I thought it would be a good idea to load all the images in the background while the user is clicking on other things. - user enters page-- design and menues are loaded--- the page is showed to the user---- images used in other parts of the flash-site is loading "behind the scenes".When the user finally open the slideshow, he/she don't have to wait for the images to load.This is my code:

I would like to store a FileReference object somehow and load it when the SWF loads again. I tried to use the SharedObject class but it does not seem to work. I suspect that what I want to do is not doable due to security issues (not using Adobe AIR), but I wanted to check. Any way to store a FileReference object please and load it when the SWF is restarted?

I need to find or develop an app that will load in a pdf file from the web, allow a user to make simple annotations and save these annotations back to a webserver I'm curently using the zurb javascript annotator with the pdf rendered to a .jpg with imagemagick. Just now, I was told that they need the ability to zoom in to 3000% or more on some files. clearly rendering to a jpg would create gigantic files.
So I need to create either a java app or a flash app that will load the original pdf, allow the user to mark it up, and save either the annotated pdf, or the annotations themselves back to the webapp. This also needs to live IN the web browser, launching acrobat reader, or an air app that must be downloaded and installed are not going to work here.
I want to instruct a server-side PHP script to generate a dynamic PDF using variables I submit from Flash. I then want to download that PDF back into my Flash application. Can I use "Loader" or "URLLoader" ? If so, how do I structure my code to render the PDF within Flash when it comes back from PHP? ...or do I have to use Flash Remoting or other means to achieve my goal?

One of the major components is PDFs files that need to be printed out. I've spent the last couple of days trying to find a solution, but seem to keep hitting brick walls.
It seems that most solutions only work with projectors running from cds rather than swfs on websites.There's been a couple of snippetts I've tried that are based on opening the pdfs in a new browser window. Aside from the fact that none of them have worked so far, a new browser window is not the ideal solution.I've set up the pdfs so they open the Print dialogue as now as they open in Acrobat. So what I really need is a way to get them open in Acrobat from Flash using AS3 (or whatever else may be the solution).
I have a flash map included in my site usually like <object... and so on. I have seen on some websites that on page load the flash is already active, I mean, on my map you have to first click on it and then start interacting with it. I want to make it on page load already available for interaction, so user when hovers over flash it would already work, so that user doesn't need to click on the map to start interacting with it.
