What im looking to do is dynamically create TextFields based on my array.length. So if I have 3 strings in my array then 3 TextFields with the array text needs to be created.
I've managed to actually create TextFields based on the array.length - however afterwards I dont know how to reference them individually, to lets say re-position x, y for array[1]. I've tried saving the Textfields in another array by .push method, but can't seem to reference them correctly.
//Create textfields based on data in Array - in this case 3 textfields
var textArray:Array = new Array('First TextField','TextField Two','Anything, really');
//Array to .push "save" created textfields

I am creating a card game application in that dynamic movieclips created on stage and inside those movieclips different cards can drop, which have some values.
If one movieclip contains one card and another movieclip contained two cards and all the other movieclips 3rd,4th,5th.. etc contains some cards then, if i want to go back and want to drop another card at the top of the old one, than how i can do this, because when i go back and drop a new card inside movieclip than it replaces the old one. i don't want to create a new array for each movieclip.

I want to create an array of object so that I can store the _level I want to load image at specified level and and to keep track of levels in an array so that when any new image will be loaded I can get location of previously loaded image and place the new image before the last image
Code:
loadMovieNum(_global.myXML.childNodes[0].childNodes[3].childNodes[5].childNodes[0].attributes.path, 178);
_root.mcTray._alpha = 100;
_level178._x = 20;
_level178._y = 620;

I've had the nagging thought of eventListeners vs container looping. For example, you could create a bunch of objects and store them in an array; make a loop that traverses the array and tells each object to execute a method. In contrast I could tie an eventListener to the object in it's constructor function that tells it to perform a task every frame.

I have a button that uses attachMovie to add a movieclip to the stage. You can add multiple instances of this clip to the stage, which works fine. I also have a feature whereby you can select and move these objects around the stage one by one. I am trying to add a feature whereby you can select more than one object at a time (indicated with a drop shadow - which I have working) and then move them together. This feature would also allow you to rotate the selected objects by 90, leaving the unselected objects where they are. I'm fairly certain that I'll need an array to hold the selected objects, and then use this info to move/transform only the chosen objects, but I can't figure out how to implement this.

What I want to do is pretty simple but I must not know how to do it. I want the URLFactory to create the Array and store it in the variable "dataArray" and use the Array in the Main class by calling the GetList() of the URLFactory class. What I have returns nothing.

I am animating a number of items using the Move effect. I am adding each item to an array after it has been added to the display list and once all items are added calling the play method, passing an array of the items to it. Only the last item plays in my animation.
Here is my code:

public function showCoins(n:Number):void{

I have a delimited string variable that I split into an array.......
What I would like to do is create an xml playlist from that array....
an example xml doc I would like to have as an end result is this:
Code:
<playlist>
<song>
<name>Some Song.mp3</name>
[Code]....
variable "myFolder" and "savetofile" are defined earlier within another function, and this function is called back to the first function which establishes the myFolder variable.....oh yea, and fileList is the delimited string variable
the second set of code produces an xml doc, but only populates with <playlist />

I found lots of links to creating 1 moveclip dynamically but not to create multiple move clips. I am trying to create 10 empty movieclips dynamically, but I cannot seem to get my script to work. This is what I came up with and does not work:
var i;
for (i=0; i<10; i++) {
var myMC["myMC"+i]:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
myMC["myMC"+i].name = "mc"+i;
addChild("mc"+i);
}
Why this does not work/how do I make it work?

I'm modifying a flash slideshow (actually the one from kirupa.com) and among other things, I'm trying to get it to generate small LEDs depending on the number of images the script finds in the xml file. I intend to make them light up depending on the image currently up (i.e. image #5 lights up led #5) and allow users to click on the LEDs to jump around between images.
The problem I'm having now is that I can't get the file to generate more than one LED at a time. In fact, it seems to only generate the last LED needed and places it in the final LED position. My only real guess at this point is either I'm not indicating a new depth properly, or I'm creating the new movieclip over and over again but not actually creating a duplicate of it, or something like that.[code]...

I want to dynamically create multiple buttons on the stage. The number of buttons I want to load will eventually be retrieved from an XML file.
I've made some progress but I'm a little stuck. I have no problems with the XML at all. I've created a button with rollovers and given it a linkage class name and it can be added as a child to the stage.
The problem lies with creating multiple different buttons, each with unique button listeners.

I made a rounded rectangle in as3 and would like to expand it on click. This is the code I use:
var lesBg:Sprite = new Sprite();
with (lesBg.graphics) {
lineStyle(3, 0x61b157);[code].....
When I click on it I would like it to expand to twice its size. I'm doing this with TweenLite but when I expand it I get ugly pixelated images and the borders expand too.
Tweenlite.to(lesBg, 1,{width: 380});
Is it possible to expand the image so it stays clean and the borders stay intact?

If I have multiple variables of the same type, can I create an array and loop to create them or do I need to create them individually.
For instance,
var ajArray:Array = new Array(mc1, mc2, mc3, mc4, mc5, mc6, mc7, mc8, mc9, mc10, mc11, mc12, mc13);
for (var i:number = 0; i<ajArray.length; i++){

I was just conducting a little experiment, basically trying to come up with a stage resizing handler that would position everything on the stage with its x and y proportionate to its original position. That's when I discovered a very interesting thing.
Shapes that you draw using flash's drawing tools are treated completely differently than dynamically drawn shapes. Basically shapes you draw on the stage in the authoring tool would seem to have no x and y of their own, and also no matter how many different shapes you draw, to the compiler it's all one "child" object because it's all just one big shape.
To illustrate this difference, I created two separate files, but they both (seemingly) do essentially the same thing. In the first file, I drew a red circle shape dynamically with code, and set its x and y with code:
ActionScript Code:
var circle:Shape = new Shape();
var g:Graphics = circle.graphics;
g.beginFill(0xFF0000);
[code]...
In a second file, I manually drew a similar red circle shape, made it 100 pixels wide and tall, and positioned it at 100, 100 using the properties panel. This time, I took away the code that creates the circle dynamically and just kept the for loop:
ActionScript Code:
for(var i:int = 0; i < this.numChildren; i++) {
var item:DisplayObject = this.getChildAt(i) as DisplayObject;
trace(item); //[object Shape]
trace(item.x); //0
trace(item.y); //0
}
In this second example, no matter how many and what kinds of shapes you draw, there will only ever be one display child and the x and y is always 0,0.
I for one kind of wish there were more of a one-to-one correspondence between the Flash IDE and the code window. Like, if we can create Shapes and name them dynamically, why can't we create Shapes and name them at authoring time? Or why isn't this now the role of the good ol' Graphics symbol? It's kind of like Flash and Actionscript have outgrown the authoring environment.
This would seem to have the effect of further widening the gap between design and development. Just thought I'd throw all this out there and see what kind of comments I get.
