Actionscript 3 :: Load Symbol Of Flash In Flex At Runtime?
Mar 28, 2011
I've this huge problem loading a symbol from a swf file in the application at runtime. I want to load it and pass it as a argument to another class where it could be used further. The symbol name is passed on from the array collection from the "o" object. Can anybody please tell me what's the right way to go about it.
I have a problem and I'm not really sure where to start. What I have is an animation of a character in the library. The Character is made up of a few movieclips for the body that move about and one for the face that holds a stock photo.I have a camera section that grabs an image of the users face and now what I need to do is swap the stock face photo for the one taken in the last scene.
I've seen the Loom project, but are there any alternatives that are more mature (and actively developed)? I am looking for something that would allow load-time weaving of pointcuts into existing binary code at runtime with the AVM2 runtime.
I need to load and apply CSS at runtime in my Flex app. I know that the adobe docs say that you need to compile the CSS before loading it but I would like to find a work around. I know that you can set individual styles like this:
[Code]...
I know that the adobe flex.text.StyleSheet class has a CSS parser but I could not find a way to harness that. (Is there a way to get that source code?)
i've just added air-sdk to ubuntu, and adl is working, but when im trying to use adt i have this:Failed to load the AIR RuntimeWhat i can do whit this?I need adt to make native installer from .air file to .dbm"adt -package -target native my-app-name.dbm my-app-name.air "
I'm allowing the user to choose some image and load it at runtime.
Code: image.source = "../images/temp.jpg";
Why doesn't this do anything? I just see the little error icon like you see on a website when an image cannot be found. But I definitely have temp.jpg.
Beginners Intro to SWC files SWCs are ZIP archives with two files in them: catalog.xml - Lists all classes contained in the SWC along with their dependencies.library.swf - Contains all the actual classes So theoretically... It should be possible to load in SWC files at run time and use the classes from them, right?
You may have to unzip it first and extract out the SWF, but this arduous process could be made easier with a few helper classes. In fact, having the "catalog.xml" there may also make it easier to identify which classes are contained within (which means you don't need to guess or assume which classes are in it). Has anyone tried this yet or know of anyone else who has?
I searched Google for a bit, but most results actually were actually mislabeled, and loading the SWC in at compile time. I found nothing relevant, so asking here is much easier.
I have a SWF file used as a banner advertisement but there is a 35kb size limit. My file is just under 60kb, and I won't be able to optimize the images any further. (An early version can be found here:URL...)I was thinking perhaps I could load 2 of my images dynamically?I actually try to stay away from Flash and Actionscript, but had to use it for this advertisement. The animation is built with transitions and symbols in the timeline. That being said I know just enough actionscript to control the timeline / playback but not how to dynaimcally load images, then assign those images to the symbols I use in my animations.Could someone hold my hand for about 5 minutes and give me the dummy 101 on how to dynamically load an image that a symbol will reference? Not a permanent solution, but I discovered that I can make a simple pre-loader swf that has the background, and load the real swf using this simple actionscript code:[code]
I've created an application that includes a number of Modules and uses Parsley framework. Ant is used to build the application.Recently I thought of using Resource Bundles and implemented it in the system by creating a locale/en_US folder under the src. I added a portal.properties file with all my strings defined. In my modules, I added the metadata
The build works fine and when I deploy the application and open it in my browser, I'm greeted with many errors thrown by the Flash player. But if I dismiss the messages, its working fine. My strings are replaced with the values in the property file, but how do I stop the runtime errors being thrown up?I get the below error.
Error: Unable to load resource module from portal at MethodInfo-637()at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()[code].....
I've been into coding for about 5 years now, but I'm a recent convert to Flash development. One of the questions I have at the moment is, considering that SWF files can be run by either Adobe Flash Player OR Adobe AIR, what's the real difference between the two runtime environments? What API's and Objects exist in one environment, but not the other?
Basically what I'm more or less trying to establish is, when would I want to develop an SWF for AIR, and when would I want to develop for Flash Player, considering that Flash Player can also execute locally (providing support for creating "desktop applications")
I have a project in Flash Professional CS5 and ActionScript 3.
I have a movieclip symbol (referred herein as "background" with scripts on various keyframes inside of that symbol. I need to hide or show another symbol (referred herein as "object") sharing a stage with "background".
To put it another way, I need "object" to be hidden when "background" reaches a certain internal keyframe. However, as "object" and "background" are both children of the same stage, how do I do this?
I'm trying to load a swf compiled by the Flex SDK into a swf exported by the Flash IDE and instantiate the assets by way of getDefinition(). Normally this works fine with assets exported from the Flash IDE then loaded into another swf also from Flash IDE.This is how I could normally do this using only the Flash IDE:Loader - > Using same ApplicationDomain - > getDefinition(class)Now, using the 'Test.as' compiled from Flex SDK using the [Embed] metadata tag:Loader - > Using same ApplicationDomain - > getDefinition("Test_" + class)The problem is I'd rather not have to keep track of the asset libraries loaded to prefix the class name I'd like to get (('Test_" + class) vs (class)). Is there any way of doing this without referencing the library the class is being pulled from or without accessing the original loader? This way I don't need to know which swf the asset is coming from, just the class name that I could instantiate from the current ApplicaitonDomain.
Flash Builder's design view is worse than 3's (which at least was usable if you ignore some quirks), so WHAT do Flex UI designers (those who don't have paid design teams...) do to design a complex UI? Because Design View (also based on what a lot of people say about it..) gets more useless with every release.See image for some differences in design view vs.Flash. WHAT is causing this? css also posted..("Duration", "hr", "min" are mx Labels, the image size text is an mx Text comp.Project is an "mx only" SDK 4.1 project.) I don't even care that the spinners look different, I just need it to show me correctly sized stuff so I can position things via Canvas, or properly size containers.
Is there a tool that will convert an exported Flash library element (ie Component/MovieClip) to an AS3 class with Flex syntax, e[Embed(source="graphic.png")]
I am embedding a flash file in my flex file and then trying to add it to the stage. IU try addChild to a canvas element and to a container element, but it keeps giving me the error, the symbol "myBtn" is cannot be converted to a IUIcomponent.
I understand that I need to place everything inside some sort of component, but what is the proper way to do this in flex?
I have this function that fires upon clicks in a particular area of a component I've created:
PHP Code:
private function dispatchDragEvent(e:MouseEvent):void { switch (_targetType)
[code]....
For some reason when I test this in Flash it works fine, all traces come through. But in Flex, SDK3.5, when I run debug if _targetType is "assign" everything is fine, but if it is "correlate" that branch of the code fails at the hitTest conditionals. It will trace "should execute one of these", but then nothing else happens. So it's like for some reason Flash is OK with the conditional code, but Flex is not cool with it, and doesn't report anything as to why...
I have an animated character swc that is an empty skeleton basically (has all the body parts, animations, and functions/vars). I want to essentially put different clothes on that character at runtime so I don't have to have many copies of this character in my resources.
For example, I have 'skeleton' (the non-clothed model) and 'Bob', 'Jane', and 'Mary' characters. 'skeleton' is animated and fully works as an exported swc, and to get the other characters in their clothes/skins, I open up Flash CS5 and replace the movie clips with the 'clothed' versions of the components. To clarify,'skeleton' has "body parts" as movie clips that are all animated on the timeline, such as "head","face","left arm","right arm", etc. I open up 'Bob', who has the same exact design as 'skeleton', with the exception that 'Bob' has all the clothes and such as differently-designed movie clips. The size, shape, orientation, and reg points are all the same across all the components. After I've replaced all the movie clips in 'skeleton', I export it as a swc named 'Bob.swc' and I do this for all the characters.
What I'm asking is, how can I do this process ^, but at runtime instead, so I don't have all these duplicate root swcs ('skeleton' has a lot of frames on it) so I can cut down on a bunch of space? So I can do something like:
// bob gets all the actions and animations of skeleton var bob:UIMovieClip = new skeleton() // replace the body movieclip with a new looking one bob.body = resources.bodyassets['bob']['body']
flash builder 4 comes with a couple of cool spark themes, and there are tons of others out there on the web, I want to be able to change the theme at runtime, without recompiling.
If loading pictures at runtime, and i want to get the dimensions of the picture, do i have to make a seperate movieclip of each picture in order to do that?
need to load an image(s) into flash during runtime. not sure where to start - want to assign the actionscript to a button. found the method "FileReference.browse()" and "FileReference.upload()", but not sure how to begin to implement it. also wanted to be able to scale the image and move it around.
I'd like to learn the correct way to design flash sites in the direction of the Kirupa tutorial found here:Although that's a hellava lot more complicated than what I'm doing now, I see the point of minimizing the layers in my movies as much as possible. So, I've begun using attachMovie to load my movies to the stage at runtime. This has dramatically reduced the layers I had in my main movie. Now, the site has just two layers: one for actions and the other for invisible buttons. The invisible buttons sit exactly where the movie clip buttons will appear at runtime.I'd like to know how I can load the buttons at runtime, basically reducing my main movie down to an actions layer. Is this possible or even recommended as good practice?
