I have a vector of fixed length 9 with some objects. each object has a variable value:Point and the vector shall be sorted such that objects with a higher value.x appear first - and if theyr value.x is the same, then the one with the smaller value.y shall be first. this is my compare function:

While playing around with as' vector.sort() I found out that it behaves normally in every case except where it needs to sort a vector with only 2 or 3 distinctive values. If this is the case, the sort() function runs extremely slowly.Here's my code:

I'm having a weird situation that only seems to occur in IE. This may or may not be related to my other post ("Need to worry about thread-safety?"), but I'm not sure, so I'm putting this in a separate thread.I have a setup in my my flash app to load an arbitrary number of different sounds, but with an limit on the number of sounds being loaded simultaneously. It works like this (psuedocode):

arrayOfURLs = ["a.mp3", "b.mp3", "c.mp3", ...etc...];
arrayOfSounds = [];
nextToLoad = 0;

EDIT: In other words, it starts loading up to the first, say, 5 sounds, and then after each one finishes loading, it starts loading the next sound in the queue.It works fine on everything except IE. And it will work on IE as long as the files aren't cached. But if they are cached, then in IE (and only in IE) the flash app will hang and produce a trace like this:

And after roughy 50 of those "start callback"s the flash app hangs and it never gets to any "end callback" or "c".It seems that loadSound is deciding to call onLoad synchronously, instead of asynchronously as would normally be expected. But this never seems to happen in anything but IE, even when the given browser has it all cached. So apparently it's either calling onLoad the wrong way in IE, or flash events like onLoad are susceptible to race conditions and need to be written accordingly.

However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?

I want my data grid to behave by default as if the user is holding the control key down. So when an item is clicked, then another item they are both part of the selection, clicking them again removes them from the selection. I already have allowMultipleSelection = true but I can't seem to find any setting that does this. I'm working on the itemclick event in the meantime, but it seems like there might be an easy to use setting I'm missing.

I think that all listeners and vars has been removed from the object but probably not because GC does not remove the object comepletly. Why object is still at its place ? Is there easy way to check what has to be removed from object so GC can collect it?

There is a movie clip MyRectangle and it is being moved by a different class Test around the stage.Class Test has no idea where the registration point is of MyRectangle is, it assumes it is always at top left corner.Class MyRectangle sometimes logically changes its registration point during runtime according to some algorithm. By this I mean it changes the position of all its children, the same way as we would do it in Flash IDE. So logically, the registration point can be e.g. in the midle.The point is to write the MyRectangle class to behave correctly at all times, so that other classes, although unaware where the registration point really is (they assume it is in top left corner), are still capable to position the rectangle exactly where they want.[code]But it will not work if MyRectangle changed its registration point by moving all children by (-50,-50). In this case, only bottom right quarter of the rectangle will be visible.

I have no clue how to solve it. Tried to write setters and getters of x and y, but it doesn't work. I adjusted the registration point of MyRectangle in Flash IDE instead of doing it programatically, but the result would be the same.Also to make it easier I assume the registration point is in the middle. Once I know how to solve this problem, I'll know how to solve it for registration point anywhere.[code]But only the bottom right quarter of the rectangle is visible, despite of any assignments of x or y in class Test.

which surprises me as ConfigurationVO inherits from NodeVO.Is the compiler really not able to figure out that a Vector of a superclass should be able to hold a reference to a Vector of a subclass?

When I get a collection back from the service tier, I create an ArrayCollection and apply a sort. When I add an item to the collection later on, the sort is still in place? It seems to be the case. I thought I was only sorting it once, not applying a sort that will stick??Here is the method for adding an item:

I am currently being confused by the Vector class.I wrote a beautiful XML to TypedClass parser. Works beautifully and without fault. UNTIL a co-worker noticed we got a Conversion Error for Vector.<Number> to Vector.<*>.

Every Vector I've ever tested all extend Vector.<*>.

Vector.<Sprite>, Vector.<String>, Vector.<Point>, Vector.<Boolean>, Vector.<TextField>, Vector.<CustomObject>, etc etc etc. ALL of them.

the problem that in 2 years i have always found differences between how xampp works and how the web server work.some code work locally but dont remotely and the opposite. also flash behave differently on xampp than the remote web server.is there is a way i can get the server configuration and use it with xampp like get the server php.ini and use it with xampp?

I m using textarea in flash 10 cs5 as3. The problem is when i try to select a text and go out of stage and leave the mouse then again move mouse on text then selection of text will move with the mouse.

Here is what causes that:

* click somewhere on the text and drag the mouse in order to select the text
* then go out of the swf
* leave the mouse
* now move mouse on textarea

the selection of text will move with the mouse. How to stop this behavior? I tried to implement mouseleave on stage but the problem is i m not able to detect mouseleave event when mouse is pressed and it leaves the stage.

This is because of wmode="opaque" parameter. I found out that it doesn't do this when wmode="window". Is there a solution for this?

So is it possible to make Flash brushes behave like Photoshop brushes?There's a specific reason I'm asking, but I'll get into that later. I want to make it clear that I'm NOT talking about importing brushes, or making flash brushes paint like special brushes such as wet media brushes or dry brushes etc.I'm simply talking about BEHAVIOUR. Photoshop brushes pretty much emulate the exact contact you make on the tablet. Whereas we all know flash brushes have an 'auto-smooth' type of effect.I know you can go into properties and monkey around with the settings, but I'm having trouble getting it right. It either remains too smooth, or gets jittery as if I'm using the pencil tool in MS Paint.Speaking of the pencil tool, it has no weight or variation, so I'm not interested in it.I'm hoping someone found the number "formula" in all the property options that best imitate PS brushes.(If anyone's interested, here's the reason I want to know):I want to do fram by frame animation, and flash is the quickest, most economical way to get it done; but the brushes just aren't friendly for the method of frame by frame. Sure they're great for tweening, but it takes For-e-ver to get from scratch to clean-up, as opposed to Photoshop.

I have a large vector drawing (imagine 5000x5000) that i want to break up into separate pieces. I know that I can convert this vector drawing into a bitmap and then use the copyPixels method to create many separate bitmaps of the different regions of the original vector drawing, but is there any way to subdivide it into movieclips that just contain vector graphics instead of a bitmap?The reason im dividing a big chunk of vector graphics into smaller pieces is for performance reasons, so flash would only render a small part of this big chunk at a time (only certain regions/voxels/subdivisions are rendered at a time). But bitmaps apparently take up a lot of memory and the system im using would take much less memory if these subdivisions could be preserved in their original vector graphics form.

I imagine I could use masks somehow to achieve this effect (for each subdivision, duplicate the huge image and mask only the region that the subdivision represents), but I dont know the performance costs of masking or if this will create other problems.So is there anyway to split up a movieclip of vector graphics into smaller movieclips of vector graphics the same way copyPixels can with bitmaps?

I'm trying to make a simple slideshow that ends with the option to click and enlarge each image. Clearly, I'm a complete n00b at this and know nothing about coding.

Here's what I've done:Created the slideshow. It works. Created a thumbnail of each picture and made it into a button (btn1, btn2, btn3, btn4) with the same instance names, each on their own layer. Created an Actions layer with the following code:

I have a series of MC's (ultimately about 55) which I'm performing some actions on when a user hovers over the MC.

All my variables and paths test correctly; but, when I test the swf, if I hover over _level0.item_0, _level0.item_2 is the MC that received the actions. As I add more MC's, it's always the last MC that receives the behavior. To clarify though, the _visibility and _alpha values do set themselves for all of the MC's. It's just when a user hovers over _0 and _1 that nothing happens to the clip being hovered and _2 receives the order to execute the tween.

I am developing a simple galaga clone for my site, its at [URL] . You will notice the controls work fine in firefox, opera, safari, chrome, etc. However, in IE, the controls are only triggered if the mouse cursor is hovering directly over the player ship.

The playership object is created in the main document class which passes a reference to the stage to the playership class.

Which is then added to the stage from within the document class (gameMain)

The playership class then monitors the mouseX and reacts accordingly. The code for the ship controls which are linked to the enter_frame eventhandler is
