May 15, 2010Does anyone know to sort in descending order in a Vector? the sort(Array.DESCENDING) seems not support it.

View 1 RepliesI have an array, and, when I use the for...in loop to add each element to a string in order, it appears to list them in descending rather than ascending order. I want to know if this is what its supposed to do and how i might be able to make it go in the right order.
View 2 RepliesIt's been 2 days and counting since I started to debug my code to make it work and It's eating up all my time and I don't think I'll hit my deadline If I don't start asking.
The gallery is working well, It can load the thumbnails smoothly without returning any error. However, the thumbnails doesn't load as expected, I think because the smallest file size gets to load first. So if thumbnail[3] is the smallest, it'll attach itself to thumbnail_container[0] which it should always be thumbnail[0] to thumbnail_container[0] and so on.

I have a vector of fixed length 9 with some objects. each object has a variable value:Point and the vector shall be sorted such that objects with a higher value.x appear first - and if theyr value.x is the same, then the one with the smaller value.y shall be first. this is my compare function:

While playing around with as' vector.sort() I found out that it behaves normally in every case except where it needs to sort a vector with only 2 or 3 distinctive values. If this is the case, the sort() function runs extremely slowly.Here's my code:
var test:Vector.<int>=new Vector.<int> ;
for (var i:int=0; i<6000; i++) {[code]....
In Actionscript 3, is there a way to sort the nodes (instances of type XML) in an XMLList in document order (as defined in the XDM spec; "Informally, document order is the order in which nodes appear in the XML serialization of a document")? Alternately, is there a way to compare the document position of two nodes?
Here's a little example of what I mean. In the real case, the list is constructed by a much more complicated process and might have hundreds of nodes.

How simple it would be to sort some xml in order by attribute or node inside Flash, rather than reloading the data? Had a look at the class and I couldn't see anything there that would do the job.
View 1 Repliesthis is not CRUCIAL but I would like to be able to change it.As the notes come down the screen, they get added on top of each other since each child is added at a specific time.Is there a way I can reverse the sort order? So notes added after notes become layered behind instead of in front?
View 5 RepliesI'm using this code below to load xml data and display it in text fields, I was wondering if there was a way to load them in alphabetical order, based on the nodeValue of name?
Code:
stop();
function loadXML(true) {
if (true) {
xmlNode = this.firstChild;

I need help with page "Thumbs" (as first frame), page "List" (as second frame) and Image gallery (as third and base). So, every frame have one own XML file...When you choose some thumb or list line, you must came to this image in the gallery. Easy, sure.. but i don't know what Function exactly i need to use.It's one flash move, hence it doesn't work with getURL or loadMovie...Some exemple with 3 separate pages here: yuri.fr
View 1 RepliesI am currently working on a Photoshop-like transformer application to work with DisplayObjects as layers. I have an ArrayCollection which serves as my data provider for my List of values, but the problem is that the items are appearing in ascending order in the List:
0 - Item 1
1 - Item 2
2 - Item 3
3 - Item 4
Since it's a layer manager application, I need the items to appear in descending order like so:
3 - Item 4
2 - Item 3
1 - Item 2
0 - Item 1
This is because layer 0 is at the bottom of the stack, whereas layer 3 is at the top, rather than the other way around which is the way Flex is currently displaying things.
I know that I can simply apply a Sort to my ArrayCollection to cause the items to be sorted in reverse order, but this breaks functionality in my application. I was wondering if it would be possible to essentially modify my Spark List or DataGroup to have the layout render items backwards.
I have an array that is structured like so.

Normally, I'd just like to sort the array alphabetically using the name field, which is easy enough using the following code. However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?
Here is a website that needs a sort function to sort the video by Last name. [URL] I would like to have a link that popped up videos sorted by last name. Please take a look at the following site for an example. [URL] When you click on seconds in the menu below, it opens a pop-up window that sort the videos in a certain way. If you are willing to,I will give you the source file of what it currently has on [URL]

ActionScript Code:
1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type
__AS3__.vec:Vector.ie.aro.floorplanviewer.model.buildingVOs:ConfigurationVO>[code]....
which surprises me as ConfigurationVO inherits from NodeVO.Is the compiler really not able to figure out that a Vector of a superclass should be able to hold a reference to a Vector of a subclass?
I need to import a bunch of vector work from Photoshop into Flash. Is there a trick to it. So far, on import, it's converting the layer styles into black.

When I get a collection back from the service tier, I create an ArrayCollection and apply a sort. When I add an item to the collection later on, the sort is still in place? It seems to be the case. I thought I was only sorting it once, not applying a sort that will stick??Here is the method for adding an item:

var fileTemplate:FileTemplateDetailDTO = new FileTemplateDetailDTO();

I am currently being confused by the Vector class.I wrote a beautiful XML to TypedClass parser. Works beautifully and without fault. UNTIL a co-worker noticed we got a Conversion Error for Vector.<Number> to Vector.<*>.
Every Vector I've ever tested all extend Vector.<*>.
Vector.<Sprite>, Vector.<String>, Vector.<Point>, Vector.<Boolean>, Vector.<TextField>, Vector.<CustomObject>, etc etc etc. ALL of them.
<type name="__AS3__.vec::Vector.<String>" base="__AS3__.vec::Vector.<*>" isDynamic="true" isFinal="false" isStatic="false">
<extendsClass type="__AS3__.vec::Vector.<*>"/>
[code]...
But then when I use describeType on Vector.<Number>, Vector.<uint> and Vector.<int>.
<type name="__AS3__.vec::Vector.<Number>" base="Object" isDynamic="true" isFinal="true" isStatic="false">
<extendsClass type="Object"/>
<constructor>
[code]....
Now I have accounted for these 3 vectors individually as even uint and int does not extend Vector.<Number> as I would have expected.
And my parsing function works for all types correctly again. But my confusion comes as to WHY this is the case, and why I couldn't find any documentation on the subject.
I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:
1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?
I have an array, and I add info dynamically into it. I need some way to re-order the array into ascending order.
Another thing. How can I add a value in the first position of the array pulling keeping all the other values jumping to the next position.

I have a large vector drawing (imagine 5000x5000) that i want to break up into separate pieces. I know that I can convert this vector drawing into a bitmap and then use the copyPixels method to create many separate bitmaps of the different regions of the original vector drawing, but is there any way to subdivide it into movieclips that just contain vector graphics instead of a bitmap?The reason im dividing a big chunk of vector graphics into smaller pieces is for performance reasons, so flash would only render a small part of this big chunk at a time (only certain regions/voxels/subdivisions are rendered at a time). But bitmaps apparently take up a lot of memory and the system im using would take much less memory if these subdivisions could be preserved in their original vector graphics form.
I imagine I could use masks somehow to achieve this effect (for each subdivision, duplicate the huge image and mask only the region that the subdivision represents), but I dont know the performance costs of masking or if this will create other problems.So is there anyway to split up a movieclip of vector graphics into smaller movieclips of vector graphics the same way copyPixels can with bitmaps?
I have a couple different arrays holding my xml information. I want to make it so when one of the buttons is pushed(and moved) the information is resorts the information in the arrays. I can get it to sort anyway I like, but as soon as I apply an "if" statement, it just sits there and does nothing. I have also tried putting it into a function with so success.[code]

View 7 RepliesI have an XML list that I need to sometimes sort manually, is that possible?So I have a main navigation system of tabs, (All Projects, Web Sites, Logos and Presentations)When the user clicks a tab say "Logos" on the main navigation system it filters the XML pages to show just the projects that have say Logos.Then the user selects one project and sees the details for that project, a large image with sub nav on the left built from the XML you see down below.This works.What I would like to do now is change the order that my XML buttons appear in the sub nav depending on what main nav tab they have clicked.Say they click "logos" I want the logo links will appear before the web site links.[code]
