Actionscript 3 :: StartDrag / Stop Diagonal Movement

Nov 23, 2010

Is there a way to have a MovieClip with startDrag, but to force only horizontal and vertical (i.e. not diagonal) movement?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Constraining StartDrag() To Diagonal Line?

Apr 23, 2008

I'm working on a volume slider for a type of jukebox and what I'm using is an actual drawing that is on an angle, therefore the volume slider and handle aren't in a straight horizontal line.I've done the basic code to keep the handle within the distance of my slider "line" (left to right), but what I have obviously just constrains it to a rectangle.

on(press){
this.startDrag(false,0,0,32,9);
}
on(release){
this.stopDrag();
}

The slider and handle are both at actual size, that's why it's only 32 pixels wide that I need it to go across and 9 pixels down. I do realize that for what I want, it's much more involved than this simple startDrag code with 4 sets of numbers in it.I'm including the source file in Flash 8/Actionscript 2.0.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Math For Restricting Movement To Diagonal

Apr 28, 2007

i'm trying to restrict the movement of a mc to the diagonal. so even if i click and drag it towards the x direction, it moves the corresponding distance on the diagonal which is, the 45 deg angle line.same with the y direction..so when i click and move the mouse haphazardly, all the object does is to follow it on the diagonal.But i just cant figure out the math for it. i mean, theoretically i think i need to use the x-component of the mouse when its angle is < 45 and the y-component when its angle is > 45. but how do i find those angles in flash?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Constrain StartDrag Movement To Mask?

Dec 7, 2010

I have a small movieclip where an external image gets loaded into a custom shape mask. The user can then drag the image around. This is all working fine.

I am now trying to constrain the movement allowed so that the image cannot ever leave the masked area.

On my startDrag() function i have tried to include the following properties but i cannot get this to work:

(false,new Rectangle(-xpos,ypos,stage.stageWidth,0));

Code:
// Imports.
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.display.Bitmap;
import flash.display.BitmapData;

ActionScript 3.0 :: StartDrag(); Seems To Stop Dragging Once The Mouse Leaves The Stage

Oct 5, 2011

startDrag(); seems to stop dragging once the mouse leaves the stage. Is there a way to set it to still drag when off the stage. The exhaustive search I've tried only says things about capture the event for the mouse leaving the stage, not continue any dragging or animation, etc. In more detail, I have a "flashlight" type sprite that covers everything with black, and allows the user to see a small circle of stage. The center of the circle is where the mouse is. When the mouse goes over the edge, half of the circle (or more depending on how fast the mouse moved) is still visible. I need it to at least move off stage completely.

Flash :: Canvas Moved On StartDrag() Without Calling Set X / Y Or Move() - How Does StartDrag() Exactly Work In As3 / Flex

Feb 11, 2011

i have an .as class that extends mx.containers.Canvas (it's a draggable border of a resizable component), it becomes draggable on MOUSE_DOWN and stops being draggable on MOUSE_UP, MOUSE_OUT and ROLL_OUT. before calling startDrag() i create a Rectangle to define the drag area, i also have a _dragging: Boolean variable to control if it's draggable at the moment. the problem is that when i click this border it jumps to a negative coordinate without calling startDrag or switching _dragging to true.

i've overriden get x, set x, get y, set y and move() methods in order to solve it but the only thing i got was the fact that position changes without calling coords setters or move(), but at the moment it's changed a getter is called and returns new (negative) value so my question is what happens on startDrag() and how to filter unwanted incoming coords values?

Actionscript 3 :: Flash - StartDrag() Within StartDrag() On Child MovieClip

May 19, 2011

as you can see, I have a container MC which I have added to the stage. I set its drag constraints using a Rectangle(). I then add the 'cat' child movieclip to the container, and I want this to be dragable too. However, as soon as I click on my cat when testing the MC. It shoots to point x=0 y=0 on the stage and doesn't move.

The container MC can be moved without any trouble.

If I remove the rectangle bounds from the containers startdrag() function. both MC's can be dragged without any issue.

//panning ability
my_x = 800 - myImage.width;
my_y = 480 - myImage.height;

ActionScript 2.0 :: Temporarily Stop Movement Of Gallery Thumbnails?

Oct 24, 2010

I would like to stop movement of the thumbnails of the Gal100 gallery when my pop-up container "MC" was loaded, so that mouse moving over loaded container "MC" doesnt affect the position of the thumbnails in the gallery beneath it (i'd like for the thumbnails position to remain the same after closing the popup container).

how to do it with AC ?

i'm also wondering why the movie clip "MC" is not listed in the AC properties window as any other movie clip which contains an AC code ? it's simply not there. so, the only way to see the code is actually to select the ac frames of the "MC" movie clip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tween Movement - X / Y Stop In Right Place At Same Time

Nov 9, 2006

I want to move a movie clip from startx and starty to endx and endy using AS but have it calculate the smallest distance and move the MC at a set speed accordingly so both X and Y stop in the right place at the same time. In other words I want a small script to act like i have just tweened a MC.

Tween:
MC _X=0
MC _Y=0
Create Motion tween on frame 0
move on 50 frames
Create Motion tween on frame 50
set the _X from 50 to 100
set the _Y from 50 to 200
play()

The movie clip moves to frame 50 but the _X moves at a slower speed than the Y because it has less distance to travel. How this is done in AS with a startX of 0 and a startY of 0 end X of 100 and an end Y of 200.
