I'm trying to display HTML text in a text field on the stage, but the text formatting doesn't show. I am embedding all font variations in the library (arial bold and arial regular) and I even have dynamic text fields on the stage that embed arial bold and arial regular.
Still, this code does not display bold text:

View 9 RepliesTrying to get a text field in my Flash MX movie to pull from and XML file with CDATA tags to show as HTML. I've checked the box to render as HTML for the text data field... but I'm having problems with the Actionscripting.
The field from this line is what I need to recognize as HTML reading CDATA tags:

I know I need to do more than just change it to ".html" instead of ".text" and have tried a couple things, but nothing seems to work.

Check out the link below, as you can see my overlay is hidden behind the flash element. However, the blue bar with the 'Continue' button appears above everything. Does anyone know what CSS changes I need to make so the overlay will appear above everything below it? The background loads an iframe.

I can't add wmode="transparent" to the embed tag, since I have no control over the page loaded in the iframe.
I am not new to html or flash but, some what new to XML. I created a carousel based off the tutorials and it works great on my computer but, when I create an html file and attach the .swf file the flash file loads but, the icon images or anything from the .xml file doesn't appear.This is what I use to load my .swf file :

Do I have to put a special script in the html document for it to be able to see the xml file?
I am displaying dynamic content in my flash. Dynamic data is coming from XML and in flash file, html entities are not showing right, strange characters are displaying there. View 1 RepliesI have a full flash site which uses swfobject to embed it 100% height and width. I'm using swffit to force a browser scroll bar for pages with a large amount of content. This is all fine and works perfectly. I also have the content in HTML format, as alternative content and this also works apart from in order to get the flash swfobject to work I need to add the overflow = hidden in the CSS, like:

a few months ago we bought a flash ready template that I customized with our information. I decided to update the website information and wrote new text. Now when I do the publish preview the upated text is not showing up. I have not change the font, color just the size because in the original it looked too small. when looking at the properties is shown as the default of font (the one the template came with) static text.
What is causing the updated text not to show up? I am not really experienced with flash, i am trying to figure out also how to see the code of the pages but i don't know how to do that.

View 3 RepliesI have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

If you click on About Us from the menu, on every computer but mine the About Us header at the end of the animation shows up as regular text and not the style I used.Here is a screen shot of what it is suppose to look like:on why this would happen? I thought it may be because the font wasn't installed throughout, but it's the same font as "embrace hope' which comes up fine.

View 1 Repliesim building this interface in FLASH CS5, where i want to place a digital clock, i created a MovieClip InstanceName "RELOJ" in that MovieClip i have two layers, one with two Text Fields that are going to display Time and the other the Date, and on the other layer is the actionscript (AS3) of the whole clock and date.ok, now i place that movieclip on my Main TimeLine, i play the swf but i dont see the clock working.I have tried placing an Actions layer on my main timeline and writing "RELOJ.play()" but nothing... View 2 RepliesI am using Flex 4 and running into some problems displaying a simple alert box. The alert box shows up, but the text seems to be the same color as the background. I know the text is there because if I mouse over in the alert box window to roughly where the text would be, I can see the cursor change. And when I double click and copy-paste into notepad, I can see the message. But the message, the button text, the message box title don't show up.The relevant code in my project is as follows

I hope to have some music on my site and have been playing around with various Flash based, XML driven, mp3 players [though I'm a beginner with Flash]. I've got one to look [more or less] as I want it but it doesn't work! It works when previewed within Flash CS4 but not within Dreamweaver. I am working with Flash CS5 (AS3) on an iMAC running 10.6.8, My problem is, when I test my Flash file in Flash, the button rollovers change the cursor from the arrow to the hand. When I publish the file as SWF and HTML, the cursor only changes in the SWF file, not the HTML. People know that there is a button there if it doesn't change. Has any one run into this issue before, if so, how can I correct this issue?

If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? With this my issue is with the <a href> in one textbox, I would like when i click those it open another text file in a different text box.
Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

I have a linked movieclip that contains two textfields.One of the textfields needs to have regular and bold text, so I thought I would use htmlText however it's only showing the regular font that I embedded?I made the textfield in Flash and called it "details".I also tried to make another textField in the symbol called, "invisi" and I set it not visible:invisi.visible = false;I embedded the BOLD version of the font in the invisi textfield, hoping this would make the "details" text field show the bold font...but no luck.
