Actionscript :: Apply Animation To UI Component In Flex

I have two panels that have a click event on them. However, both call the same function for some reason. When I have only one panel visible the animation works correctly. However if I add another to the stage on the click event both panels animate at the same time. I just dont get what I'm doing wrong. My function is looking for only the current target but apparently I must not be doing that correctly because it's animating both panels and not just the panel the I clicked. My expected result is to animate only the clicked panel.

It uses a focus_out event to detect if there is a change that needs to be committed. However I notice that a FOCUS_OUT event is only called if you click away from the textfield but inside the component. Is there any way I can listen for clicks outside the component from within the component?

I have a simple Flash animation of an object spinning around it's centre with no x, y movement nor scaling.
It plays fine in Flash but when I convert the symbol to a Flex component and instantiate it in mxml, the animation scales up and down as it spins.

i want to apply some animation (like fly from left) to all the character of paragraph text.for this, i have created a movie clip with only one character (suppose "A") and done some animation like first it flies from left then it rotates and gets fade off and on.Now i have a paragraph in another movie clip and of course it contains lots of characters (more than 200) so it is not possible to apply same animation to all the characters individually making layers.

I really like the new tweens and motion panel that Flash added in CS4 but I'm having some problems with them that I cant find a solution to.
1. When I animate or apply a preset animation it changes the position slightly. I do work where I need things positioned exactly where I put them. For example X:70 Y:210 but when I animate it might for example change it to X:70 Y:210.5 and to make it more confusing even if I animate a group of them at the same time it only does this to some things and not all. Also if I try to change the position back manually it doesnt always let me in the properties panel. I have to go to the Motion Editor and change it there frame by frame.
2. Similar problem to above but with the Alpha property. I want to animate things where it fades on and then stays up for a few frames and then animates back off. When I try to do this using the properties panel it doesnt always let me. So for example I need my alpha values to be in this order for the 4 keyframes. 0, 100, 100, 0. But for the 0 it might force it to 3% instead of the 0 I need. Again I can only fix this by going to the Motion Editor and adjusting it frame by frame.

I am working on a project where I want to add a click listener to the root DisplayObjectContainer, which, if the user clicks on a UIComponent, will add a red border to whatever the user clicked on. Currently, my code to do so looks something like this:[code]Unfortunately, nothing actually happens. The UI component the user clicks on remains distinctly un-bordered. I've tested event.target and am reasonably sure that it does actually point to the UI Component the user clicked on; I also used Alerts to make sure that the if statement was actually executing fully.

I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?

I made an animation in Flash which I want to embed in Flex using SWFloader.
I've imported the tweener class (caurina.transitions.*) to tween a rotation. The animation runs perfectly in Flash.
However, when I embed the animation in Flex, the tweening is gone.
Do I need to import the tweener class in Flex?
I use Flash Player 10 (latest version), Flash CS4 Professional version 10.0.02, IE8 and Flex Builder 3.

Lets make it simple. Lets say I have the stage with a combo box. I will have 100 frames with the combo box tweening from position to another. I easily can do it and see the animation of the combobox over the timeline. But when I create the swf file, the animation doesn't work. This also happens to all the other components. They don't accept any type of animation except if they are embeded in another movie clip.

I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

I have two components. One is called "InsideComp" and one is called "OutsideComp". OutsideComp has InsideComp as one piece of its component, and in my main MXML file, I have embedded an instance of OutsideComp. How do I access a public variable of InsideComp within my main MXML file?In Actionscript, I could just do something like:OutsideComp.InsideComp.valToChange = 5; But I dont know how to do it in MXML. Is there any way of applying a ColorMatrixFilter to one rectangular area of a DisplayObject, leaving the rest untouched? The DO is a container, and the user interacts with objects in it, so taking snapshots to change its appearance isn't an option.

A Flex components values are initlized by init methord. In an application flow, How to refresh a mxml component data value ; as init is callled at the start up it self only.
eg. of mxml componet may be as simple as button label or text as complex as repeater whose data provider is a web service ( means a fresh quesy should be made to pull the data and refresh the dataprovider of repeater )
