IDE :: CS4 New Tween - When Animate Or Apply A Preset Animation It Changes The Position Slightly?

Sep 23, 2010

I really like the new tweens and motion panel that Flash added in CS4 but I'm having some problems with them that I cant find a solution to.

1. When I animate or apply a preset animation it changes the position slightly. I do work where I need things positioned exactly where I put them. For example X:70 Y:210 but when I animate it might for example change it to X:70 Y:210.5 and to make it more confusing even if I animate a group of them at the same time it only does this to some things and not all. Also if I try to change the position back manually it doesnt always let me in the properties panel. I have to go to the Motion Editor and change it there frame by frame.

2. Similar problem to above but with the Alpha property. I want to animate things where it fades on and then stays up for a few frames and then animates back off. When I try to do this using the properties panel it doesnt always let me. So for example I need my alpha values to be in this order for the 4 keyframes. 0, 100, 100, 0. But for the 0 it might force it to 3% instead of the 0 I need. Again I can only fix this by going to the Motion Editor and adjusting it frame by frame.

Adding 2nd Motion To Preset Tween?

Sep 2, 2009

I have added a fly in right to a symbol and I want to add a fly out right after a certain number of frames. I've been through a tutorial on Lynda of the new CS4 tweening, but what I cannot figure out is how to add the second motion to the new motion tween.  When I try to select the last frame or add a new keyframe past the last frame,  Flash asks me if I want to replace the existing tween.  I can't figure out how, like in classic tweening, to add a fade out, e.g., to the existing item after so many frames.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Top Image To Tween To The Right And Up In X And Y Direction And Also Slightly Rotate

Apr 15, 2007

I am updating source code I came across to AS 2.0 and I am having problems with the tweens. Here is what I am trying to accomplish in AS2.0:[URL] Here is the part of my updated code I am having problems with:

This is my problem: (1) I want the top image to tween to the right and up in X and Y direction and also slightly rotate. THEN I want it to tween back underneath the other stack of pictures in center of swf. However what is happening is that the depth of the topimage is being set under all the pics right away and the tween takes place under all the pics and not ontop. Is there a way for me to wait until the tweens are done and then execute my swapDepths line? Here are problem lines in detail:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Find A Slightly Darker And Slightly Lighter Colour Based On A Particular Value?

Dec 30, 2010

I was wondering if there is a way to find a slightly darker and slightly lighter colour based on a particular value?

I have a MovieClip with 2 nested MovieClips inside. The background movie I set to a certain colour using ColorTransform and the other movie is sort of shading.

What I'm trying to do is make sure that I transform the shadings colour to be a darker shade of the background movie's colour.

I was also thinking could I then have a mid point where if the background colour is really dark have the shading start to be a certain shade lighter?

Professional :: Created A Motion Preset Of A 3D Text Animation That Made The Text Swing Back And Forth

Jun 25, 2011

I created a motion preset of a 3D text animation that made the text swing back and forth like a gate with the hinge on the far left side.  However, when I apply the motion preset to other text, the text moves to a new location and the text swings closer to the center than the far left side.  Moving the text only creates a travel path that further complicates matters.

what am I doing wrong with the motion preset?  How can I save something into a preset and apply it to other things and have the animation work the way it was designed?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween Class - Tween Back To The Original Position?

Oct 27, 2009

I am trying to understand the thinking behind motion tweening using AS3 (rather than doing it on the timeline).I am trying to create a simple platform game, and while this is simply a learning project, I have an movieclip instance on the stage, and using basic x+5 logic I can get the instance to move left and right on the stage accordingly.Trying to make the instance 'jump' is a bit trickier. This is the code I am using:

ActionScript Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;[code].....

I thought this code would move the instance from it's current y-position and tween it to it's highest jump point. From here I planned to use a MOTION.FINISH event to tell it to tween back to it's original position.Something strage happens though, rather than tween from the current y position and move up, the instance instantly transforms it's position to y+100 and then tween back to the original position. So it kind of turns out that it is the second part of the jumping action that I want to create.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Tweenlite - Animate A Movieclip From One Position To Another?

Jul 28, 2010

Ive been messing around with Tweenlite recently and love it. However there seems to be an issue how you can set which movieclip you are animating, for example to animate a movieclip from one position to another you would simply have: TweenLite.to(mc1, 1, {_x:220, _y:220}); However Im simply trying to replace the movieClip with a variable which changes like this: TweenLite.to("mc"+i, 1, {_x:220, _y:220}); Where 'i' is incrementing as normal. This in effect should produce mc1, mc2, mc3........and so on but it doesnt??? Anyone have anything they could share with me into why this wont work?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween Engines To Animate Objects

Sep 7, 2011

I have always animated objects using an Enter Frame event (ie. slide it 5 pixels to the right every frame). I am seeing many companies I work at using the TweenLite tweening engine to animate objects. Is there some special magic these tweening engines do that makes them better? If I wanted to side a ball across the screen over a time span of 100 frames, would using an Enter Frame be any different than using the tween engine? Or would they have the exact same result?

Apply A Certain Tween To Several Objects?

Jun 7, 2009

I'm working on a little flash project to show a card game being played out. Its just playing out a set of moves - no actual logic for actually playing the game.Anyhow, what i would like to be able to do is create a tween (hope thats the right term) where a card will appear in the center of the table, and then slide over to the players hands and at the same time shrink down so i can fit a few hands on the screen. So basically i need a tween that takes an object (the card), places it on the center of the screen, and then slides over and shrinks down to a specific point. So in whatever action script calls this tween, i guess i would need to feed it two values - which card it starts with, and where the card should end up.

Apply Different Eases To Sections Of A Tween?

Jul 29, 2009

Flash CS4 has a feature where a tween can have more than two keyframes. If a tween has three keyframes, then changing keyframe 2 will affect the motion from keyframes 1 to 2 as well as the motion from keyframes 2 to 3. This is a very cool feature.

But there's one problem: I can only figure out how to apply an ease to the entire tween, not to the motion between two keyframes. Do you know how I can apply one ease to the motion between keyframes 1 and 2, and a different ease (or the same one a second time) to the motion between keyframes 2 and 3?

I've had two ideas so far for getting the same result:

1) Make a custom ease that includes all the eases I want. I find this too cumbersome and imprecise, unless there's a way to copy an existing curve into the space between two keyframes of a second curve (without replacing the whole second curve).

2) Split the tween at each keyframe. But then every time I want to adjust keyframe 2 I have to do it twice, and sometimes the break ends up jerking slightly. I'd really rather keep keyframe 2 a shared keyframe.

Flash :: Animation Won't Animate In After Effects

Feb 10, 2011

I made a flash animation of a character walking, exported it as .swf, made sure it worked in the flash player, and imported it into After Effects.  I used keyframes to map out where I wanted my character to walk. I played it back, first using space bar, then using 0, and my character didn't animate.

I didn't script anything. I was trying to follow these directions to create a walk animation[url]...

At step 4 the guy said, " I won't delve into how to create each frame of the  cycle because for one thing, you can have a look at the fla. that I  enclose at the end of the tutorial, and for another it's not that hard. I'm sure you can do that!" I didn't download his project because I already know how keyframes work, I knew what I needed to do to make my animation walk the way I wanted it to walk. From there I right clicked on the movie clip, clicked "Export SWF...", and named it.

How can I can I get my character to animate when I preview my work in After Effects?  Was there something I should have done while in Flash to make it work in After Effects?

ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash8]Dynamic Text Tween Does Not Animate When Stop() In Last KF?

I decided that this was okay but I wanted to change it so text/staff etc.would update dynamically from a text file. Got this working and moved on to simple alpha tween animation.I have several dynamic buttons that fade onto the stage perfectly. When the user selects a button a variable is loaded which updates the adjacent dynamic text box (within a MC). However, if I try to tween this text box, it goes to full alpha if I place stop() in the last keyframe.If I remove stop() it will loop and display correctly.
