Ajax :: Flex - Bridge On Safari - Cannot Call Any Of Public Functions

My flex project uses FA-Bridge, and apparently in Safari browser I cannot call any of my public AS functions that have arguments passed in. For example I can call this AS function from javascript:

In the above call safari throws an error # 1063, (i.e. Argument count mismatch) in the safari javascript console, and points to line 561 in FaBridge.js. It thinks I didn't pass in the requied parameters. Now the above issue exists only on Safari. Both of the above approaches work on IE, Firefox and Chrome browsers. Note: I am NOT using swfObject for embedding my swf.
Is it easy to implement Flex Ajax Bridge with ColdFusion? Where can I learn how to use it? My frontend is pure HTML+JS and I just need the push capability. I thought of using Websocket Event Gateway and Server Sent Event (aka EventSource) but seems like they don't have much browser support quite yet. Any pure jQuery short/long polling option Any good Server Sent Event polyfill solution available for older browsers?
How do I call a custom component's public function from the main app. For example, I've got a timer component, MyTimer.In the main app, I want to call startTimer() or stopTimer().In the main app, I've got:

I am using ExtrernalInterface.call(javascript_function, args); to call javascript functions from Flex. But this fails in case of browsers that have javascript disabled. Is there any other way to call javascript functions from flex?
As I've been working with AS I've developed a collection of utility functions. For example:

And I've found that, some times, I want to keep more than one public function in each file... But ActionScript restricts me to one public definition per file, if that file defines its self as being part of a package.
So, without creating a class with static methods, how could I get more than one public function in a single .as file?
so I've worked with AS for a while now but I've always managed to avoid using external AS files so my knowledge of how to work with them is lacking. Right now I'm trying to work with the sample files from the vimeo API found a the bottom of the page here: It all works fine but I'm confused about how to call functions in these external files.I want to dynamically change the video being played from the fla file and have how to call the function VimeoPlayer from the fla file
No idea what I'm doing wrong here, it just won't let me access any of my public methods on my class. I just keep getting "Error 1180: call to a possibly undefined method"!
If I run the same function in the constructor of the class everything is fine.
I have an AJAX web service call that returns a chunk of HTML that I then apply to a DIV element on my page.This works fine for any html element except a flash video which comes up with 'Movie not loaded'.I've double-checked the html that is being returned and it's all fine, and it works if I don't use AJAX, but when I use AJAX and then add it using JS it doesn't seem to attempt to load the playlist.
I need to be able to communicate between two applications that reside on the same machine. One is using Flex and the other is in C++. I would like to be able to call functions and pass arguments to each other. What is the best way to communicate between them?
i've never tried to do this before, so my head a swimming a bit. i'd like to have a public boolean called enabled in myClass custom class. if it's called to be changed, how do i trigger a function from the change? should i add an Event.CHANGE event listener to my variable?
I started making my first complex game and ran into a problem that made me just stop everything I was doing and I have laid the project to rest until I can find out how to fix it.The problem is simple. I have a timer in a public class. The timer is private, but the function to start the timer is public. Only one class calls it. But as soon as the program starts, the timer function executes.Now that aside, why are some public functions being called at the time of the program being executed? The class that executes the function isn't even called until later/instantiated.
I created a menu in flash and As3, nested in a HTML page, which calls html pages by the classic way urlrequest->navigatetourl.Now I was wondering if i can make As3 call a AJAX function declared in the HTML page or at least in the swf file itself....

in my application, I did some trace statements of a file For example if(oldFile.parent.toString()!=file.parent.toString()) There are some other file print statements , and it seems to encounter this error stated below. But the error does not appear every time. For example i ran my application for 20 times, it will encounter this error once. I'm involved in writing a Flex/ActionScript library and in the future I will be involved in writing the same library in JavaScript. Rather than writing a library in each language and having to maintain them separately I was wondering if it was possible to:
1) Write the code in one language and share the code into the other e.g. Write the code in JavaScript and use the same .js files in ActionScript
2) Write the code in one language and perform a conversion into the other
I know it's possible to communicate between Flash/ActionScript and JavaScript but I'd like to avoid the overheads in using the technology bridge so this isn't really an option.
How do other people deal with writing and maintaining libraries that do exactly the same thing but in different languages? Specifically how do people do this between JavaScript and ActionScript?
Is it possible to call/envoke a public static function from JS? I can't seem to get it working and Im almost certain it cannot but I thought I would ask the community.
I'm a bit confused in AS3, after long developing in 1 & 2. I'm doing a radioplayer, so I did set my document to be of document class: RadioPlayer. Here is everything ok, sound playing etc. Now my client wants to add a volume button. So I made a movieclip of class VolumeManager. Now, to change the volume, I want my clip to call a public function of RadioPlayer.
As RadioPlayer is the document class I don't know how to reference it inside VolumeManager to call its public function. In AS2, I would say: _root.setSoundVolume(volume);
In terms of HTTP request performance should I pick AJAX or Flash? To be more specific, I'm more into Flash than AJAX and I'm currently working on a wide scale web project. I wanted to try AJAX out for once and now it's getting too messy for me. Before it gets more complicated I thought may be I can run Flash on the background for HTTP Requests and use it with javascript. I couldn't find any benchmark on the Internet, but I think AJAX is faster than Flash. So what's your personal experience? Is there too much difference between Flash and AJAX?

I have to know if a public method has been called from outside the class or from inside. The reason is that depending on this, one of the actions to be executed in this method vary a bit.
I have problems with facebook application based on flash which communicate with PHP using FBJS-bridge.When someone use the application for the first time, he/she is asked for various permissions. After that, flash contact PHP with ajax but request is never sent. When you refresh page, everything is working without any problems.If you remove the application on privacy settings, refresh the page and try again -same bug happens.If you allow application, refresh page, in other tab remove application and start application in previous tab - user is asked for permissions but everything is working after allowing application.This is FBJS code

openPermissions is called to display permission dialog, and on allow flash function allow() is called. In flash, allow() calls JS function ajaxCall(), which should make ajax request. But, ajax.post never sends request. I know that for sure, because flash function parseAjax was never called and also debugging tools in browsers are not showing any ajax requests. URL and parameters are same as when it is working. No flash or JS errors are detected...
I'm hitting a brick wall here, and it's driving me mad. Used to use ExternalInterface to call Flash functions from Javascript all the time, and now under CS5 (and the way it uses object id's instead of embed in html) it's stopped working for me in certain browsers. I put together a really simple program that has the person click a link in the browser that activates a javascript function that simply sends some text in to Flash to display in a TextArea. I'm tryng to make a public static method call another method, but Flash throws error 1180, sayng that the method called by the static method is undefined.
How do I keep the menu static so the animations do not refresh with page clicks? Example would be like a 'frames' but within ASP.NET 2.0... Do I use the old HTML Iframes approach?? Or can I use something more contemporary using AJAX or something like that? This one stumps me... Should I user custom controls or AJAX ??Among other things, I'd like to change the menu swf based on security role of user in ASP.net 2.0, so I would need to pass variables to Flex / Flash application.
