Feb 16, 2005I've been developing for this Beta Macromedia Flash player for Windows Mobile (not CE or Pocket PC mind you) that someone found somewhere on the net.. has anyone else come across this, or know of a new (non-beta!) version?
It sucks and blows. But I'm stuck with it until I can find something that runs better.

Aug 24, 2010I have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player

Oct 15, 2011I'm quite new to developing in Flex. I've found out that it's possible to create mobile applications with Flex 4.5. So far so good, I've made an app and it's working well on my mobile phone. But there is one thing that I'm not very happy with. When I'm installing the app I also have to install Adobe Air (stand alone application). So is not realy cool and not the way to go in my opinion because this will look strange to the users of the app. And especially the users which aren't realy 'geek minded'.
Any solutions to this? Is it possible to include or embed Air in the app? It will make the filesize of the app bigger but that's a much smaller problem then having to install a complete different app next to the real app.All the best from NL.

I tried to use SWFLoader(...) but since its MX library class only works on the desktop runtime environment, but fails to work on actual Android device when debugging the application.
Maybe it's possible to embed HTML that contain YouTube video into some Flex media container like TextArea or something?

Jan 12, 2010I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?

I thought about using flash to grab the webcam but that obviously wont work on Apple devices. Does anyone know of a way to do it and keep it all browser based? All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.

When we use NetConnection in combination with a NetGroup to initiate communication between two local AIR applications on Windows XP, they always both connect to the NetGroup succesfully and detect each other as neighbors. However, on Windows 7 both applications connect succesfully to the NetConnection and NetGroup both don't detect each other as neighbors.To reproduce this problem, here are two AIR applications:[code]
These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. On Windows 7 however, they cannot.Does anyone know why this wouldn't work on Windows 7 and what steps can be taken to make it work? It's critical to our project that this works.In some cases, the applications take quite a long time to detect each other as neighbors (up to 15 seconds in some cases), in other cases they detect each other immediately. Does anyone know what could cause this delay?
Css :: Flex 3 Embed Throws "Invalid Embed Directive In Stylesheet' Error On Linux
Mar 9, 2010We have a flex application which compiles fine on windows box using mxmlc ant task but when we try to run the same build scripts on linux, it throws the 'Invalid Embed directive in stylesheet' error indicating it is not able to resolve the path to the image files.
Can someone pls. educate me on if there is a difference in the way the image files are looked up, in a CSS file, on windows vs linux.
Flex sdk version is 3.3. The same sdk is used on both windows and linux. Not sure if this has been fixed by any future 3.x sdks.

Feb 10, 2012Making a piano/keyboard application and trying to figure out the best way to set this up .I plan on having a directory of sounds for each 'instrument' in my assets folder (piano1/C4.mp3,piano1/D4.mpg,...)Is there a way to import/embed all of these as an array? Also is there a way I can pass a variable to this class to indicate which folder I want to import these from? Something that would be ideal

How To (re)package Mobile AIR App For Flash
Jun 8, 2011I've written a small sample AIR application in Flex to be deployed on iOS and Android, but I'm wondering how to go about setting up a way to publish it as Flash as well. I'm using Flash Builder 4.5. Any tips for this AIR noob?EDIT:I should add that I've tried to add a new Run Configuration, but did not see a Flash app option listed there. I'm sure I'm missing something fundamental. After all, this is FLASH Builder.UPDATE:So this partially did the trick... I went to Run Configurations again and created a new launch configuration called "Flash_configuration" and pointed it at my project like so.
However, upon hitting "Run," the app launches in Adobe Flash Player, but is completely blank. The mobile flex contains buttons and UI elements in the View, but these do not show up in Flash Player. Perhaps the Mobile Flex framework elements are not directly translated to elements understood by Flash? If so, will I have to use some actionscipt to detect the platform and replace those mobile elements with flash-friendly ones? I would sure hate to rewrite/draw.
