Flash :: Preventing A Swf From Invoking ExternalInterface Calls Without Recompiling It?

I'm working with a third party swf that I cannot change and am charged with making it work in a local environment, loaded within a container application I have built. The SWF was published for accessing the network sandbox, so whenever it invokes the ExternalInterface in a local html container, it throws a security sandbox error and kills execution. The ExternalInterface calls are all non-critical (logging) so if I can block them somehow, then I won't have a problem any more.

We build a flash application in ActionScrip 3 which provides JS external interface calls. We load another swf on our swf. If we don't enable external swf, any JS calls through external interface works fine. However, if external swf is active, at some points when there is any JS calls through external interface, Flash player plugin crashes which also bring down the whole browser, I see that on IE and FF.
what may cause external interface call to crash Flash plugin?

I'm working on a project, where i need to display info about a banner swf file, and return it to a javascript function. When I'm at dimensions and load time it is quite easy, but I also need to determine what URL does the banner direct all the clicks.So The idea i have is to load these banners inside another swf, that would be a container. and from this container i hope i could get more information about the banner, and then call some javascript functions from the container, to output the result.But the problem is, i can't find a way to prevent getURL() function (in the contained banner swf) and return the url that has been called.Is it possible to catch a getURL event, prevent browser from going to that url, and return the URL that has been called?

I have a component called a TableDataViewer that contains the following pieces of data and their associated set functions:[code]This component is nested in another component as follows:[code]Looking at the trace in the logs, the call to set table is coming before the call to set dataSetLoader. Which is a real shame because set table() needs dataSetLoader to already be set in order to call its load() function.So my question is, is there a way to enforce an order on the calls to the set functions when declaring a component?

Are there any known issues (and workarounds) involving multiple calls toExternalInterface.call in ActionScript 2.0?I have 3 functions, each of which calls an external JavaScript function. These 3 functions run nearly back-to-back-to-back. The first time I load the page containing my Flash movie in a browser, I see the effects of all 3 JavaScript functions, as expected. However, once I begin reloading the page a few times, I begin to randomly see the effects of only 1, 2, or 3 of the JavaScript functions. Clearing the browser cache seems to "reset" this cycle, guaranteeing all 3 calls to work again successfully.

I'm trying to call an ActionScript function from JavaScript. In Firefox, it works perfectly, but in Internet Explorer, I cannot get TCallLabel or an ExternalInterface call to work.
here's the JS:
flashController = document.getElementById("flashMovie");
lashController.TCallLabel("/functions", "frameLabel"); //go to frame on "functions" movie clip
This shows "Error: Unspecified Error" (don't you just love IE's JavaScript errors? )

Just wondering if flash is able to do this using a 3rd party app perhaps? Im creating a flash application (closed source), and I want it for others to be able to customize the program in the means of changing text colors by editing the actionscript using an external .as file. Problem is, the external actionscript works, but it will only work when I recompile or republish the fla file in flash.
Looking for a way for flash to read the external .as file without using the fla file.

friend and I are working on this Flash application that retrieves data from a IBM DB2 database and displays it. We read somewhere that Flash can't connect directly to a database, thus some middleware is required. So we are using JSP or servlets for our middleware. The problemIn our best (but limited haha) knowledge, we understand that we need to first declare an XML object, and then use a Load method to invoke a servlet that accesses the database and fills the XML object with records of the database. Finally it'll return the filled object back to Flash. Are we correct in this sense?Er, the problem is, we have no idea on how the servlet code works. We can successfully connect to the DB2 database and retrieve records, thoughBtw, we did try loading a XML file into a XML object. However, it's wierd. This is our XML file:

edit: Resolved; my ActionScript function for parsing the mySQL results didn't correctly interpret a recently modified column, and the corrupted new output happened to be identical to the old output.
I have created an application that accesses a PHP/mySQL database, but it caches old information.
I used the workaround from Adobe's website, where I append '+ new Date().getTime()' to the URLRequest String, but the application continues to use the old data.
When I trace the URLRequest String and C&P it into a browser window, however, I receive the correct data.

Basically I have some TLF text as a symbol, it's read only, the font is embedded and I set mouseEnabled to false. It's sitting as a graphic, on top of a button. When I mouse over the text, or the area where the text would be, it prevents the button from receiving the on mouse over event. Using classic, dynamic text, this route normally works just fine. Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

We have a Flash application provided by a vendor. It reads its parameters from an xml file on our web server's file system. However, it can also be spoofed to read its parameters from an xml file sitting on another domain's web server. At first we thought crossdomain.xml might be able to fix this, but we've researched it and understand the purpose of crossdomain.xml. It won't solve this issue.Are there any ways of enforcing that a Flash application reads its input file only from the same server where the Flash application was served? Or is the recommendation just to initialize variables within the Flash app, not relying on an external file.

I want to have a Sprite with an child TextField, but without the textfield triggering or preventing any mouseover events from its parent.
An example would be a world map where each country has a label with its name. For smaller countries, the label would naturally exceed the country's borders. However, the label should not get in the way of mousing over whatever is beneath it (i.e. neighbouring countries).

Client has a flash navigation menu on his website. When the site is accessed via [URL] the hardcoded links in the flash nav load pages properly. When accessing the website via the [url] the site navigation links can not load the proper pages and instead just redirect the user to the root domain.
I assume this can be fixed with a change to the .htaccess but I do not know how flash handles these links.

I'm working on a Flex 3 app, implemented in Actionscript 3 and MXML, that includes an embedded video player, which is essentially a black box--I load it as a SWF from another site on demand, and I don't have access to its source code. It does, however, inherit from Sprite.The problem is that, when focus is on the Flash app, the video player is somehow receiving and processing keyboard events, even when the player itself isn't in focus.So when users are typing text elsewhere in the GUI, if they hit the space bar, the video pauses.
I've tried intercepting key events in the Sprite's parent, and setting tabEnabled = false, tabChildren = false, and buttonMode = false on the Sprite, but nothing seems to work. It's as if the Sprite is getting keystrokes through an alternate Event path.how I can prevent the player from receiving keyboard events or input events entirely? It's fine with me if no input events reach the player, since I've implemented my own,separate video controls.

I have moviclip called "b1" which I am using as a button. This b1 is in the shape of switch and when I am clicking on it it turn right and when I'm clicking again the switch is turning left to the primary position. this action is explained by AS code:[code]And only thing which I do is that I have to modernize this AS code for my own requirement. My problem is that I don't have any idea to connect those two codes. My scene ( my menu bar which I was talking about) looks like that: URL...and please click one of the buttons to see what i am talking about.

I'm starting a blog with a hosted wordpress instance and i would like to be able to stream music using a flash player on some posts.The problem is that every player i find uses a simple param to get the file url which makes it very easy for someone to find that url and just download the file.I know that it's probably impossible to prevent this all together, but i at least don't want it to be obvious.

I have a website with a flex application. The flex application has no user input - except for clicks for navigation. The website also uses no scripting language - i.e. no php, asp, jsp or cfm.
The website just consists of one page which contains the flash file for the flex application. The source code of this page is here: [URL]
I have been advised (by a software program used by my client) that this website is vulnerable to a reflective type XSS attack and have been advised to 'sanitize' all user input.
respect to XSS and would respectfully like to ask that AFAIK there is no user input. What should I sanitize and how?

I've not touched AS2 since AS3 appeared, but circumstances brought me back to using AS2,Is there way to invoke the functions/methods in a loaded movieclip? I know you can do that in AS3 by invoking the Loader object's content's function, but I haven't been able to do that successfully in AS2. I'm currently using the AS2 MovieClipLoader object, like so (snippet):[code]as set up, I intended the target movieclip's function 'invokeInternal Function' to run, but it doesn't seem to be doing it although the SWF itself loads successfully.

I've got a movie that i'm calling a webservice from. When I run the movie in flash it downloads the service stub and makes the SOAPCall and loads the data as you would expect. But when i upload it to a site it loads the service stub makes the SOAPCall but "Received SOAP response from network" is not called.
About the files: I load the movie in an html file using UFO. There are some external interface calls before the webservice is called but these definatley return what is required for the webservice to run because the stub does not get downloaded if they don't return anything.[code]...

I've attached a project that I'm working on, but this is a couple versions old as it's the only one small enough to upload. While I've not yet completed everything, I'll try to talk through what I'm trying to do. I've included actionscript on (a couple of) the home/aboutme/etc. buttons so that when clicked, it calls a gotoAndPlay instance on the label layer, and I'll eventually add this same code to all five of the buttons. What I'd like to do is have the animation that's being called simply play and then stop rather than just continue on through the rest of the timeline -- for example, clicking on the home button plays from the frame where I want it to start, but then it continues on through the rest of the timeline.
I'm not having much luck with doing a mc.stop(); -- so would adding a this.stop(); to the actions layer at the various spaces where I want to stop playback meet my needs of (1) stopping the various actions the buttons have called, while (2) still allowing for button clicks to resume navigation and playback throughout the various animations?

I have a movie with a video and when I exit fullscreen mode (pressing ESC) I want to execute a function. I mean, exit fullscreen and execute my function at the same time when pressing 'ESC'.I tried to add a listener but it doesnt work.[code]When I go fullscreen, I press ESC and flash exits fullscreen, but myFunction() doesnt load. I have no trouble invoking a Class using the code on the main timeline shown below; var testClass:MyClass = new MyClass(); //code on maintimeline invoke Class. However, if I were to remove this code and just use the Flash Class Input Field and insert; MyClass //the name of the Class. I get throwback errors:
1 - Call to possible addFrame Script?
2 - MyClass must subclass flash.display.MovieClip etc
I've tried variations of adding and removing the flsh.display.MovieClip Class
