View 1 RepliesI am a developer in Web Flash Game.(I use AS3.0) I want to save and load the swf-file to a local disk of any user,Because I want to decrease the time for loading a flash movie from site.Is it possible?If it is possible, I hope the swf-file has only one loading from site and it will be loaded from a local disk of any user after that. (I know a concept of Internet temporary file. I want to know the other techniques of only using AS3.0.)
View 3 Replieshow you can make it so that the user can press a button to save a specified area as an image so that they could email the image to someone?
Background... the user will be able to change and create their own picture and then they want to save the image they have created.

I wonder how can I download/save/write a file from my server to a client's computer using flash or flex.

I would like to save a webcam captured video to the local disk using AS. The application is running in a standalone Flashplayer 10. I can save pictures from ByteArrays using file.save, but I can't find a way for doing this with video. There is a nice implementation for that using AS and AIR at http:[url]...I don't want to have to install AIR before running the app.
View 2 RepliesI want to also add cuepoints to a live recording video as it is incoming.
I have a live feed incoming from a VideoDisplay object in my Flex Air app, and I would like to be able to record the video/audio of this and save it to disk and/or upload to server.
Is this possible? If so, would it be possible to add CuePoints to the video as it is being streamed live? Right now I am just trying to record a live stream from my VideoDisplay.
I need to save data to the local disk and then load it back up again as required. I'm using a local shared object to save data to and this works fine. Getting it back out again seems less straightforward. This is the code I'm using:
//Saving
myLocal_so = sharedobject.getLocal("flashcookie","/");
datastring = "anyoldstuff";//sample data to save
myLocal_so.data.savegame = datastring;
myLocal_so.flush();
//Loading
myLoadVars = new LoadVars();
myLoadVars = myLocal_so.data.savegame;
myLoadVars.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {loadgame = myLocal_so.data.savegame;
trace (myLocal_so.data.savegame);
} else {trace ("Error!");}}
Nothing appears to happen at all. The program continues with no traced output at all.
We have a Web login feature. We will offer Free calls to a large campaign.
Scenarios:
Because of free calls, we will offer a unique file to be downloaded and stored After a week or month we will call them and offer them our desktop application to scan and see how trusted, the user is If we dont find the same file again, we will never start business and more our own statistics Based on that report we want to do some follow ups campaign We can do this with cookies but we want user experience and trust analysis
Example: if you play a music in youtube.com, without notice your file is actually in /tmp/Flash....flv with lot of data on it.

View 2 RepliesIs it possible to save image from Flash with ActionScript3 without using of any server side script? I need the download image functionality on application distributed on a cd so I can't use any server side scripts.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create an interactive map in flash where whenever someone clicks on a location it adds a movieclip to the map. So far that seems to be working ok.
My question is, is there a way to make it so those movieclips are still there when the next person comes to the page? and so i'm able to keep count of the clicks and their locations?
I have found many drawing pad solutions. Some good, some not as good. All of them, however, fail to show how to save the file as a pdf (would be happy with bmp right about now) from the drawing pad to a server side folder via php. Can someone show how to do that using as3?
On the advanced side, I also need to figure out how to make it recognize logged in users of the preexisting CMS in order to save out to specific user folders. The CMS is Joomla 1.5 latest build, with JomSocial and JSPT multi profile. It would save out to folders created by the JMarketPro system.
I am developing a small flash application. In my application a user can draw a painting. I want to capture the drawing process as a video, and later allow him to view how he painted the drawing. Is such a thing possbile? If so how (do I need flash media server for this)?

I need to be able to load a jpeg/png image from disk and show it in flex and send it to a server as a base64 encoded string. But once the image file is loaded, in my flash.display.LoaderInfo object, the bytes property (type of ByteArray) contains more byte than the file content.

I first hope this is not a duplicated thread. I saw several related ones but none that match exactly my case.
I try to dynamically load an image from the disk into a clip. It works well when I use relative paths but doesn't whith absolute paths. [code]...
How can save data into a XML file without user prompt dialog in Action Script 3?
I'm writing an simple application (with adobe flash) that runs on client PC and save user state data in XML file in same directory of app. When i use FileReference it shows a user dialog for saving file. Is there any class to save just XML data directly into XML file?
I think writing just XML (text plane) data couldn't make any security problems?
I have a Flash AS 3.0 swf-based browser game. It's hosted on my site and communicates with a MySQL database via PHP using Flash's URLVariables. Everything works fine. The problem is, I want to be able to save the player's game after he leaves the webpage or closes his browser. How is this usually handled?
Is there a reliable event that fires when a swf is terminated? Is so, what is it? If not, what's the solution? Should I simply save the player's data every x seconds? That seems like it will bog down my server. I could have 10,000 people playing and I don't want to save each of their games every x seconds.
I need to open a popup(html) form a Flash projector.
And I need save Files with "Save as window" from a CD to user choice...
I am currently using filereference in as3 to load a file from the users local disk and display instantly within a loader on the stage. This works fine but i am now needing to load files that are already stored on a server not the local disk, is this possible?
I have tried loading the url into a loader object but this takes far too long if the image is quite big where is filereference is almost instant.
My current code is:
Code:
var mFileReference:FileReference;
browseButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onBrowseButtonClicked);
function onBrowseButtonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
[Code]....
Is there anyway i can take out the browse and selected stages and just load the server based image?
I am writing a program that need to load photos. However, there is limitation in flex that users cannot load photos with pixel above 4069 x 4069 into a bitmapdata. How can I check photos pixel before running to error? Since some pictures are big nowadays, I would like to check the user's system memory and free harddisk space. See if the computer have enough space to load the photos.
View 5 Repliesi want to see if these "build a." flash sites (to support a user customized ordering process) are done using regular flash or Flex?
[Code].....
All of these "walk a user" through a customized ordering process and capture all of their selection and showing them all of their customizations (and ultimately bring them to a final ordering screen). What's going on under the hood on these sites and are built in flash or flex? Is the person creating a separate image for every combination that you could possibly select or is something else happening here?
I still can't figure out if Flex or Flash is better for something like this. (why does adobe make these seemingly basic questions so complicated) Are there any good resource or tutorials for try to build this type of functionality in flash on a website?
I've been fooling with this problem since AS2.0 (and shared Objects) and I'm not much closer to solving it, partly because every article I read on it is focused on php and server-side stuff that doesn't apply. How to load a String Array from a txt file in local user space (the folder from which the .swf is run). What I need to know: The easiest way for the user to save/load a file. The file has to contain Objects and Arrays reflecting his current status in the game. The goal is to avoid non-Flash apps and languages, and external Classes if possible (I do everything right in the main fla). I don't mind that the user has to initiate and approve the upload/download.
