i have a function(initialize) inside the a.as File.i want to access the that Variable from aaa.fla file?.How Can i access the Variable?my main class is a.as file ,inside a.as file i load the aaa.swf file

I have the need to change a variable in a child Flash file.
The setup is a parent Flash file, that has called a child Flash, and placed it in a movieClip.
I can send a variable using Javascript to the parent Flash file, but not directly to the child Flash file. Is there a way that I can access the child Flash file directly with Javascript?
Or do I need to send the variable to the parent Flash file, and then have the parent send the variable to the child Flash file? Is there a sort of dot notation that I can use with Javascript to get to the child Flash file without first accessing the parent, when the child is added to the parent using the loadClip function in flash?

I have a problem with SharedObject. I created SharedObject using AS2.0 it's working fine.... my question is can it possible to store the variable values in an .txt file where the flash file is saved... basically the SharedObject will store the vallues in localdrive with file extention. not only using SharedObject if any other way to store the vaules in .txt file will be helpfull for me... my requirement is to store the the position of the swf file and when the time it reopen, it should start from previous position.

I have a program that plays swf files in the UILoader. The program counts the number of customers that use the program by adding 1 to a variable called customerCount each time a button is pressed. I am trying to design one of the swf files so that it can access and diaplay the accumulated value of customerCount. Can someone help me to find the actionscript code that will let me display the value of customerCount in the swf file.

I have basic knowledge of Flash and AS3.0. Suppose i have a flash swf file(main.swf). In this main.swf file, i loaded another swf file(sub.swf) by writing the following code snippet in main.swf file as shown below:
var textLdr:Loader=new Loader();
var noteUrl:String = "AddNote.swf";
var noteUrlReq:URLRequest=new URLRequest(noteUrl); textLdr.load(noteUrlReq);
addChild(textLdr);
Now, how to acess the data present in main.swf into sub.swf.Note: Here data represents values/data stored in variables/objects of main.swf file.

I have a task to upgrade a web site. I have a map of ND with some cities on it. I needed to add a new city to the SWF which did not seem to be hard (asuming I did it correct). The action on all the buttons for each city look like this except the name after the # is the city selected.

I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?

I am using FDT for Flex development and when I compile, and it tries to access a flv file, I get the error "cannot access local file". This is obviously a security sandbox thing.Now I tried adding crossdomain.xml to the root and it still makes the same error. I know somehow I need to add to my project use-network=false, but i cant for the life of me work out where the flex compiler additional arguments area is. I know in eclipse how to do it, but with the slightly modified FDT, i havent got a clue

Is there a way of writing data into a text file without using AIR components in AS3 using flash. The save method of fileReference class opens up a file selection dialog box. Cant that method directly write data into some file withot opening he dialog ?

I have a Flash project that plays FLVs from (http://) sources and it works fine when I publish it as AIR 2. I want to save and access my FLVs locally, but I can't seem to get it to work. I don't know if it is a matter of the correct path syntax, I'm also not sure what an Air app sees as a relative path. This is what it looks like for http:

I have searched for this everywhere but it seems like every answer is either overcomplicated or simply does not work, and I know for sure there should be a more simple way of achieving what I need. So, until today, I have always coded from within the timeline. But now I realise why I should code in separate class files. I have an application created in Flash Builder 4 that loads SWFs of flash files and I want to access movie clips within these flash files. I can access top level movie clips using:
var assetName:String = "example_mc";
this._graphics[assetName].addChild(this._customText);
However when I want to access nested movie clips I am unsuccessful, I have tried:
var assetName:String = "example_mc";
var assetName2:String = "example2_mc";
this._graphics[assetName][assetName2].addChild(this._customText);
and I have tried:
MovieClip(DisplayObjectContainer(this._graphics.getChildByName(assetName)).getChildByName(assetName2)).addChild(this._customText);
In addition I tried variants of the square brackets and "getChildByName" but still no success.All moviclips are instantiated in frame 1 of the Flash files?
Edit :I forgot to tweak my error handling so an error would be shown, plus all my tests where not showing text, late afternoon on a Mon is not my brightest hour! ;) I worked it out in the end, the solution was either (as above):
MovieClip(DisplayObjectContainer(this._graphics.getChildByName(assetName)).getChildByName(assetName2)).addChild(this._customText);
Or:
MovieClip(DisplayObjectContainer(this._graphics.getChildByName(assetName))[assetName2]).addChild(this._customText);

i'm trying to access an aspx file which is online. it's suppose to give me an xml data that i will parse and display inside of flash... the wierd thing is this: using any variation of code (using xml, or loadvars) the file loads the xml file and works great from WITHIN the flash authoring environment (when using "test movie") BUT it doesn't work when i run the swf file from its local directory (explorer) or from within a browser. what and why is this?
