Flash :: Calculate The Angle (BAC) In Degree?
Feb 25, 2012I have this code :
var a:Apoint = new Apoint();
a.x =0; a.y=200;
addChild(a);
var b:Bpoint = new Bpoint();
b.x =275; b.y=100;
[Code]...
I have this code :
var a:Apoint = new Apoint();
a.x =0; a.y=200;
addChild(a);
var b:Bpoint = new Bpoint();
b.x =275; b.y=100;
[Code]...
So I've been staring at my screen all day, my client getting increasingly irate trying to work out what's going on.
I'm on Flash CS3, AS 2.0
Here's my code:
Actionscript Code:
//set stage for FBFStage.align = "TL";Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";loadMovie("image.jpg", pic, 'GET');//define dynamic aspect ratiospicHeight = new Object ();picHeight = pic._height / pic._width;picWidth =
[Code].....
My problem is my client wants to be able to change image.jpg occasionally, to ones of different size ratios. If the "pic" movieclip has a box of the right size ratio inside it I have no problem unless I change the image, which I need to be able to do. If there is nothing inside the movieclip when I load it, the image always appears on its side, and I can't seem to get it rotate to the correct position!
We all know how to drag a movie clip:
my_mc.startDrag(target,[lock, left, top, right, bottom])
But does anyone know how to drag/restrict a movie clip to a 45 degree angle?

How can I do this?
I as this working in AS2 and need to update to AS3...shows that AS3 doesn't like sloppy coding. Here's what I need: I pull data from an XML and that works when I put the data into a dynamic text box. However, I can't seem to get the date of birth into a variable. I have some code that calcs age in years but uses a string literal that I thought I could just replace with a variable from my XML...ain't a workin'. Here's the code I have:

View 6 RepliesI am not sure 1/maht.tan in flash gives the answer in radians or degree.
anyway, how cna i change? I mean, whats the code? (script)

I wanna count cot(north / south)
does: 1/math.tan(north , south) does it?
I mean, what comma stands for? - + * / ??
I have an object called point that I can move around the screen with my mouse. This object has a vector mapped through it (_v1) using the center of the stage and "point"s x,y location in order to draw the vector (note all of this is working fine). My problem is occurring when I set up was a button that simply sets a value to true if you press it. The idea behind this button is that when pressed, whatever location "point" is at, it will move 1 degree clockwise in a circle around the center of the stage (this is all happening in the frameHandler so I can keep clicking the button to make it continue around the stage).
The code I am using is based in an if statement listed below:
if(clockwisePressed) {
var v1angle:Number = _v1.angle;
v1angle++; //increase the angle by 1 degree
if(v1angle>180) {
v1angle -= 360; }
[Code] .....
So what is happening here is that clockwisePressed has been set to true so this fires off. My vector (_v1) is set up to tell me the angle (already converted from radians to degrees) but it's a read-only value. So I assign it (_v1.angle) to v1angle so I can mess with it and increase it by 1 so I'm moving clockwise around the center of the stage. Then I just check to make sure that it falls into a range between -180 and 180 (if I trace _v1.angle around the stage, 0 degrees is to the left, 90 degrees is straight up, 180 degrees is to the right, and -90 is straight down). Now using the formula I derived from this thread but converted to work with 0 degrees pointing to the left and the value for Y going up the further down the stage you go, I came up with
x = centerX - radius * cos(angle)
y = centerY - radius * sin(angle)
Now when I make a sample chart on paper and use these values on my calculator, this works like a charm. If I plug in an angle, the radius, and center I get a point right on my circle I draw on a sheet of graph paper. However, when I actually try this in flash, the "point" jumps all over the stage. (Note that _v1.m is just the magnitude of the vector between the center of the stage and "point" which is the same as the radius). So I trace everything and the values for cos and sin don't seem to be coming out right. For example, if my angle is -1.9581 and I take the cos of that on my calculator I get something along the lines of 0.9994 but flash traces Math.cos(angle) to be -0.3777. Isn't using Math.cos(-1.9581) the same as putting -1.9581 into your calculator and hitting cos?
Below is the corrected code that works:
if(clockwisePressed) {
var v1RadAngle:Number = Math.atan2(_v1.vy, _v1.vx); //get angle in radians
v1RadAngle += 0.0174; //increase the angle by ~1 degree more or less
//Now just move the crosshair and get it ready to be redrawn
point.x = centerX - _v1.m * Math.cos(v1RadAngle); //_v1.m = radius
point.y = centerY - _v1.m * Math.sin(v1RadAngle);
clockwisePressed = false; //remove button pressed boolean
}
What I've done so far is using your mouse you (click & release) you shoot a ball off in that direction using radians. Now what I'd like to happen is when the ball hits the wall it bounces off in it's reflection angle. Eg. if the ball hits the right-hand-side wall travelling at in a radians of -0.65 it should bounce back in the radians of about -2.5
View 3 RepliesI'm working on an interactive animation for a university assignment. Here in this scene the user is able to turn a safe dial left and right either using on screen buttons or keyboard keys. The trouble I'm having is trying to write an IF statement to detect the angle of the safe dial so when the dial == an angle of rotation the scene goes on to play the next frame of the animation.
Code:
import flash.events.MouseEvent;

I have a pointer that rotates with this code (on the MC):
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
_rotation += 0.2;
}
This works fine but now I would like to have another pointer but with an starting angle of 60degrees. Is there an easy way to ad a starting degree or angle value on this code?
How to keep a MC a certain distance from the mouse cursor regardless of angle?
View 10 RepliesI want a random angle ranging from - let's say - 10 to 80 (degrees). I got some code but there seems to be a bug inside of it. It calculates a random number (working) between 10 and 80. But when I paste it into the other variable (astAngle1) it's generating a random value not higher than 56(???)
Code:
var randomNumber:Number = ((Math.random() * (80 - 10) + 1) + 10);

I use this script currently to determine the difference between two dates:
[Code]...
The problem with this is I want to monitor the actual physical day change so if someone accessed the application at 11:59 PM and then came back 5 minutes later this would register as a 1 day difference (a new day), this current script requires atleast 12 hours to have passed between two dates for it to register as a new day.
I have thought about using the date number etc, but because months and years are so different it is quite a complex route, there must be something simpler.
I have a client that wants a product to rotate around its axis for a full 360 degree view of the product. The final view needs to be draggable - so a user can use their mouse to turn it left or right. I took photos of the product in 10 degree increments and created a movie clip - but I can't figure out how to get it so a user can control the view: turning the product left or right.

View 3 RepliesFlash Tranformation Matrix via JsFL. I have to write a JsFL script that creates a text on my Flash scene, and rotate it with a random angle. Imagine I want to create and rotate a "Hello World!" at 45 degrees, my code looks like that:
rotateAngle = 45;
//creates my new text at x:0, y:0 coordinates
fl.getDocumentDOM().addNewText({left:0, top:0, right:10, bottom:10});
fl.getDocumentDOM().setTextString('Hello World!');
var mat = fl.getDocumentDOM().selection[0].matrix;
[Code] .....
The problem is : the rotation applied to my text is 58.3 instead of 45. I have to admit that I'm kind of noob with matrix... so I used the "matrix transformation for rotation" here : [URL].
I have a rotation value in degrees(0-360) and a value for magnitude, ie (1-10 pixels per second).
How to apply this information to determine what to add to an objects x and y values to send the object off in a given direction at a given speed ?
my concept was I have webcam. My webcam is able to catch an image. Whereby, the flash will calculate the overall color of the jepg. And it will resize and place it to the nearest color of the main background color.
View 1 RepliesI need to calculate the intersection between two shapes in flash / action script. The problem is I can't access the shape's nodes and segments, and their coordinates, so there's no way I can calculate this. Do you know a way?
edit: further explanation: I imported irregular polygons from an EPS file to a movieclip with shapes in it.The mathematical solution to the problem is trivial, but to do that, I need to access by AS code to the coordinates of the nodes that make up the polygons, which I tried with no success. That is what I'm trying to accomplish.
edit2: dismiss this question. It's not possible. The workaround I'm applying is to save the polygons in SVG and parse them to get a list of nodes. then will feed that list to flash to calculate the intersection and areas on runtime.
