when ever i click the menu .the event listen from uiloader and text field.I would like to remove event listener from above.Actually i want to create xml gallery .with lots of images
If I plan to implement 100 objects on stage to be listen to mouse and keyboard input, is using "function" call responsive enough? How good does eventlistner work?
I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.
I have two sprites in my movieclip, one under the other, and i want both to listen to mouse clicks event. I found that only the top level sprite receives the event when i click on it. I need to dispatch the events on both, so I can't use mouseenabled=false.
I have two buttons each in its own sprite now I want to listen for mouse overmout and click event on both. In a way that if you roll over button1 its color changes but at the same time button2 color changes as well.To be more specific lets suppose I have a graphic button like map picutre for a country like UK and then I have text button for UK as well.What I want now is that when user either scrolls over UK map the map button color changes but at the same time the color for UL text button changes as well. same goes for click and out events for the two.
I am trying to create a text effect using a custom class. The class receives refferences to the TextFields that I want to apply the effect to, an the effect should take place whenever the text is changed in these TextFields. The problem is that Flash doesn`t seem to provide a way of listening for the TextField.text event of a Dynamic TextField... Or does it? Just to clarify: On the stage I have a dynamic TextField named tText. I create a new instance of my class and call MyClass.addTarget = tText, which is supposed to tell my text effect class that it should apply the effect to tText, whenever the .text property changes.
PS: What I have tryied was TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT, but apparently that`s for Input TextFields, whenever the user inputs some text. I change my text through code. I have also tryied Event.CHANGE, but that doesn`t seem to work either...
ive followed Senoculars drop-down menu tute [URL], awsome stuff, but it seems the submenu's dont disappear to well when you roll out. ..They only disappear if you click on another menu item or when you click outside the menu.
I am new to Flash and trying to create something that may be simple, but am getting tripped up on.My issue is I have a navigation bar with text. When I mouseover one of the links, I would like a "pop-up" menu to appear. And from there, a CLICK event on them would bring me to a main-timeline frame.
How I went about to test this was I created a rectangle on the first frame of the main timeline, I converted that to a button. On the fifth frame of the main timeline I named the frame. Going into the button now, on the 'OVER' keyframe in its' timeline, I inserted more rectangles to form the pop-up menu. Now, I then converted the first rectangle to a movieclip that I want to on a CLICK goTo the 5th frame of the main timeline.
When I use the usual AS3 code in the actions panel of the movieclip with a basic CICK event, this error appears;
1120: Access of undefined property 'name of movie clip that links to fifth frame'.
I'm having a major brain fog right now...I'm trying to add a click event for each menu item that is loaded from an XML file.

So basically everytime a click event occurs on a menu item, the related url from the xml file will be called. However the trace(imgURL) only shows the last item loaded from the XML file which makes sense.
I just can't see how to modify the code so the unique url is associated with each unique menu item click event.
I have what seems to be a simple task, yet I cannot seem to figure it out. I am busy creating a project in ActionScript 3, and while I am fairly fluent in ActionScript 2, I am being stumped a bit here.
I have a simple dynamic text field inside a button object. This text field has the name of txt_title. I have attached event handlers to change the alpha of the buttons when they are hovered over, however I also want to change the value of the text field within the button, when hovered over. My event listener looks like follows:
I'm new to flash and programming in general but am learning it to make games. I'm currently messing around with hit detection and its not to hard to test in the game tick ( fired from onEnterFrame). What I'm wondering is if it would be possible / useful to create a custom event that i can listen for. And make the eventListener hear when a collision happens. Also would this be better or worse for the cpu than testing the collisions of lots of enemies on a screen?
The old way to allow audio to be played/streamed in the browser was a flash button, such as that seen on [URL]. What's the new iPhone-friendly way to give the ability to click on a simple button to listen to an audio file in the browser? If the answer is HTML5, is the such a button built and available? I don't need an MP3 player with steaming and such, only a button.
I know the difference between the two, but I never felt the need to use the bubbling feature. If I want to listen to an event from a deeply nested children, I always use the capture phase. Could someone explain to me why I should rather use bubbling, its advantages, and maybe show me a situation in which bubbling would be the only solution?
Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

i am not an action script developer nor flash designer, i just want to have a small action script sample that i will edit a little to make it interact with my javascript code. By the way, i want to have a button and a label on a flash form, when the user clicks on this button the onclick event will call another function 'setText for example' this setText() function will change the label text. So i think the code will be something like this:

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I am trying to have flash listen for a loadClip event when a button mc called portfoliob is released. When the loadClip event is triggered I'd like flash to then create another MC called container2 and load a .swf called pmenu. I understand the logic behind it but for the life of me I can not get it to work.
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..
As you see from the code above I have a loop that loads images on each pass using the same loader. This works, however, it is looping too quick (I believe) and as such the "addBook" function that handles pushing these into an array is pushing them into the array in the wrong order. Two questions: (1) Am I approaching this incorrectly? (2) If not, is there a way to listen to the loader event so the loop proceeds only after the load of that image is complete?
I have a dynamic text field that updates when an mc is clicked. Just wondering how I can change the color property of the text when when the on click event happens.
I have a textfield, and I put the field legend inside it. I want the text "type your name" to be erase once user click inside the textfield. How can I do that? And the reverse, if the text was lived empty show again "type your name"?
I'm really new to AS3 and could use some help. I have a movieClip with a drag and drop functionality that's working fine but then inside this movieClip is a dynamic text field and it won't let me click over the text field to start dragging and if I click off to the side I can drag but the movieClip is automatically centered and then I can't drop because now the text field is under the mouse and it keeps saying:
ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property stopDrag not found on flash.text.TextField and there is no default value. at MethodInfo-10()
Why is AS3 so finicky? I'm clicking on the MC for the love of $(*%@ not the text field. Errr..
All I want to do is add text from my string to dynamic text field when I click dynamic buttons. What should the as code be for this? Here is my code. Right now I just have the click returning another shape.
You've seen those Input Text Fields on web sites that have titles on them, i.e. Name, Email, Message, in the Text field itself. Then, when you click on the the text field to type something in, the "title" disappears and you can type your info in. Perfect example: [URL] (Under "contact")
