How do you or your company require designers to deliver their assets to coders? Do they deliver a PSD? A series of 24-bit PNGs?

I want an air application to be able to update the assets it uses, but minimizing the download needed, so only downloading files added since it last updated.I'm thinking this would include a server portion which would zip the needed files based on a version number? Has anyone implemented anything similar / got any thoughts on the best approach to building this sort of system?

I'm working on an iPad app using AIR for iOS and I'm wondering how I call on video files basic controls.
The app I'm working on is just a mobile presentation for our studio's production work, so I just want to be able to add our showreel and some other videos of work we've done.
I have an .flv that has cue points sent to me by one of our motion designers. What I need to do here is be able to detect this cue points in actionscript so i can stop them at certain point and so on. I found something on flash help but i'm kind of confused.

Adobe Cirrus offers a number of options for transferring data from peer to peer: Directed Routing, Object Replication and Multicasting to name a few.I just want to send the data to one specific peer, its fine for other peers to 'see' it in transit.
My experiments with Directed Routing (the obvious answer) have not gone well. all the sendto... methods fail, while NetGroup.post works fine on the same netgroup. I am concerned about using direct connections because of reliability.
Has anyone successfully implemented a one to one messaging strategy (not one to many), which can still message between non-connected peers - (Directed Routing) or solved this problem successfully?
I am considering various workarounds, but I am quite perplexed that these NetGroup methods: sendToNearest, sendToNeighbour & sendToAllNeighbours just seem to fail, for no apparent reason.
I've usually designed Flex applications myself but this time I'll need a designer to assist with skinning the application. I've worked with this designer for a while, and we could work well on an HTML/CSS environment. He can't code, he sends me sliced PSDs which I could convert to clean code. But I'm not sure how to have him assist me with Flex UI as he's not familiar with the components.How do you guys interface with designers for your applications?

This includes a show-reel section.I developed it using HTML and jQuery, and converted it into an AIR app using the plugin for Dreamweaver.Admittedly this my first attempt at creating an app this way, but it all went smoothly until I wanted to play the video.

I can't figure out how to tell the topmost timeline (or root?) timeline to play as soon as an embedded mc finishes playing or even one layer above the nested MC - everything is on a timeline, nothing is loaded, I have no real programming skill anymore...or ever

I have been using flash since version 3 as a designer.I want to know how to make an object that I have manually placed on the stage from the library with a Class attached to it, interact with the Document Class? So I am basically dragging the item onto the stage and this item has a class attached and the Document Class with all of its SubClasses needs to know this exists.
Now I was dabbling with making geometry wars to learn AS3 Classes and it was great fun, I set up the Document Class, my enemies and Player 1 Spaceship. I worked out my different SubClasses, and everything was added to the stage by AddChild() along with all SubClasses being created through the Document Class....Every Class Object was linked to the Document Class as everything was created either by it or through SubClasses under it. So I had full control to do what I wanted. However, all I ever see are elements generated dynamically to the stage. As a designer I want to animate things here and there and then at specific times possibly gain control of this item with it's Class attached, but I want the Document to have a link to this Item.
Also can everybody please stop generating text boxes dynamically all of the time. just create a MovieClip with the form elements on it if it's a form that isnt going to change in layout at all. But this leads onto the same sort of questions, the items arent being created and added to the stage as objects so you still have to make the MovieClip Class understand the items under it exist, I would do it by the Instance Name but is this dirty these days in AS3..

I am trying to build a flash player for my company's Shoutcast server, and have seen a few articles about it on the 'net, including this SO question here. However, I can't seem to get the audio stream to actually play. It seems to be connecting alright, but calling stream.play() doesn't seem to do anything.

I've ran into a weird problem while trying to send a JSON command to my company's flash player. Basically, i am unable to pass a playlist to this player - nothing happens - using the following command:
player.sendEvent("LOAD_PLAYLIST", json_str);
but the weirdest part is that if I print the entire command using Firebug's console.log, copy it and paste it into the code (thus hardcoding the playlist), everything works like a charm.
For instance, the following code:

I'm integrating a Flash-free web site with Facebook Connect.Loading it in Internet Explorer 7 (only in IE 7, not IE 6 nor IE 8) I get the famous IE information bar saying that the current web site requires the Adobe Flash Player and asks me if I want to install it.
If I remove the code needed to the Facebook Connect integration (some facebook-hosted javascript files), IE does not ask me to install Flash anymore.As I've already said my web site does not require Flash at all and with IE 6, IE 8, Firefox or any other browser I'm not asked to install the Adobe Flash Player.Is this normal? Does Facebook Connect require Flash? Does it need Flash only with IE7?
sometimes, the spec sheet from the media company won't state actionscript version. so I guess it should be save to use as2 rather than as3. but is that actually actionscript version will affect the flash player.

I've been looking into having a player-controlled sprite (a UIComponent) leave a trail as it moves across the screen, avoiding other lines and trying to get to the "exit". The player-controlled sprite will be controlled by the keyboard.I've looked at "snake" games to try to sort out the best way to do this, but I'm not sure that it's the best base to start from.
