i load in ActionScript a swf file. So far no Problem, but I didn't found a way to access one of it's functions, the best thing would be if I could access the main function in the mxml part of the swf.

View 6 RepliesMy problem maybe a development problem is that i've a preloader file.This preloader with bulkloader load and external swf that is the index file.Now because of i'm using the preloader every stage reference in the index class like stage.stageWidth will generate a #1009 error. So my question is how can i access to the an index class function so that when the preloader's stage will resize some index sprites must will assume the new width of the stage?

View 3 RepliesI have followed the tutorial on gotoandlearn that builds a preloader swf to load an external swf. The problem I am having on the main timeline is that I now cannot access a function in the final external loaded swf. This worked fine when I just loaded the external swf into the main timeline but with the preloader I think I have my loader instances confused and I don't know how to fix it.

Like I said this worked perfectly before I tried cleaning things up with intermediate preloader swf and now its all gone pete tong (again!!) When testing this by reviewing the main timeline it cannot recognise the function killStream
I can't seem to access anything from a loaded swf file. I can, however access parent variables/methods from inside the loaded swf file.

EDIT: wrapperMC is just an empty movie clip instance that I've created and positioned on the stage to load the external movie into.

View 1 RepliesI have been working on a Flex Mobile application using Flash Builder 4.6. I have 2 mxml 'views' in my project. In one mxml file, i have a function that grabs xml data. In my other mxml file, I have a refresh button that when depressed is suppsosed to call the function in the first mxml file in order to once again grab the xml data. I dont know how to call that function from outside the mxml file it is housed in. [UPDATE #2]* I thought I should share some more details about my issue.

I load a "cal" swf file in another swf files mdi_window. So the window is moveable inside the application. The issue is with the x y axis for the popups that open up in cal swf. The code for the function that opens popup is:

The x & y axis of the popup act wired based on the location of the mdi_window in which the Cal.swf is being loaded. The x & y axis work fine if I move the mdi_window all the way on the top left corner of the application. The first image shows how the popup opens when I double-click on the 10:00 AM purple color event on my calendar.
and now when I move my window the popup moves to the side as well. I clicked on the same 10:00Am purple event again here: How can I solve this issue.
I'm currently doing a board game, in which you get asked questions and answer them for points. the questions get loaded from a .txt file. what I'm trying to do is that the questions appear in a random order everytime the game starts. I already have the shuffle function working, it shuffles 51 numbers (the number of questions in the game) between 51 variables, so each variable is assigned a different number and they don't repeat. My problem is that I can't figure out how to apply those numbers to the variable that get loaded from the text file. I could make many IF statements but that would be a lot of code, so I tried doing a function, but it didn't work. this is the function:

I am using FDT for Flex development and when I compile, and it tries to access a flv file, I get the error "cannot access local file". This is obviously a security sandbox thing.Now I tried adding crossdomain.xml to the root and it still makes the same error. I know somehow I need to add to my project use-network=false, but i cant for the life of me work out where the flex compiler additional arguments area is. I know in eclipse how to do it, but with the slightly modified FDT, i havent got a clue

So question is how do I access that button's properties. I want when something happens in Xyz file, button's (someId) visibility to become false. If Abc.mxml was AS class file then it would be easy, just make object etc., but how to get if it's mxml file.

Someone sent me a .fla file containing several art assets, with instances all configured to be displayed properly and in the right positions. However, since I'm using FlashDevelop with the Flex 4 SDK, I have no idea how to access these instances in code. Some of the objects are MovieClips that I need to modify the size of, and others are Dynamic Text objects that I need to change the display strings of at runtime.
