Flex :: Animation - Get The Element To Move And Fade

I have spent 2 hours on this simple state to state transition with simply resize and move animation. I can get the element to move and fade...but there is no resize animation at all. The panel element stay the same width whole time. If I copy the code to a brand new test mxml file, it works, but not in my main application file.
I need to create an animation and provide some results of the move function at the END of the animation. However, i am not able to control the output till the move function is completed
I tried the isPlaying- that doesn't seem to detect that the animation is completed... so continues to output resukts before the animation is complete

I am trying to do the move vertically animation on a button nested in the vertical layout. I am not sure if the Hgroup restricts the button moving vertically.
It's a bit of decoration to go behind a logo. When the dMove var is commented out I get the appropriate line of squares fading in and out at random spots along the x = 78 axis, but when introduced nothing appears at all...
I'm looking to add an element to this function to make my text fade. On (release) of my 'biog' button this function starts. But also I need my text on the page to fade from 100 to 0 on release, before this function begins. I've tried applying code that I have but can't get it to wrk. Not sure how these functions work exactly and no matter how much reading I do I can't get this right.
I am having some dificulty making a path for this enemy i'm trying to create... cause i want him to rotate + move, then stop, then shoot, then rotate back and move off screen... Its easier if you see it.. you can download the swf file in the zipped archive to demonstrate what i mean. I did it there with tweens. Anyway.. i tried and make it but i'm a little stuck on the stopping part... you can also see what i did in the fla file attatched...

But what I want it to do is make it transparent as it decelerates or have it's alpha go down to 0 as it nears the destination. And when it gets a new destination it's alpha resets back to 100 again to repeat the process.

I've been having some trouble with tweens. Here's a description of my usage:
I have a system where a textbox is the child of a movieclip. When you click the "Next" button, the movieclip fades to 0-alpha and upon completion, the text in the textbox is changed (to the next index in an array) and it tweens back in to 100-alpha. This makes a nice transition through the text.
My issue is that sometimes it doesn't tween back in, only out, leaving the user with an empty box where text should be.
However, I'd asked this question previously with the thought that it was "Timing out". Now, after significant testing I realised that it only happens if I click or select some of the text on the text box. Could it have something to do with this text selection intefering with the changeText function below... (it's the same text box, just the text changes).

i am trying to do is make a simple text animation, i need the text to go from small to large and fade. I figured how to make the text move with a tween and fade with the alpha, but i cannot get it to go from small to large and back to small.Here is an example of what i mean...
get something to work. What I'm trying to achieve is this: there's a slideshow that automatically changes pictures every 10 secs (I've used a kirupa tutorial to achieve this). The pictures are loaded from an xml file, which also contains captions for the pictures. What I would like to do is to have the caption fade in and slightly move to the left with each picture change. E.g. picture 1 is displayed, caption 1 fades in, moves to the left and stays there; picture 2 is displayed, caption 2 fades in, moves to the left and stays there, and so on.
I'm a bit new to AS2 and have followed the tutorial for the Snow Animation [URL].. I'm wanting the snow to stop after a few seconds and fade out. Anyone know how to do this off hand? I'm a little stumped.
I'm creating a portfolio site with a handful of thumbnails. I want a short description of each thumbnail to appear when I rollover the thumbnail. I've got it set up to appear, but I want them to fade in. I can't seem to figure that out. In addition, I want an image to appear and move to the front when the thumbnail is clicked. I can get it to appear, but if it's not on top, then it will just show under the other images visible. I'm thinking that a simple command would solve all these issues, but I cannot seem to figure it out. I've included the action script for one thumbnail.
Ideally, I'd like for the clicked image to fade out and the next clicked image to fade in, but I think that that is beyond my Actionscript understanding for now.

Here are the two texts Products Innovation I want the button to be "products" and when you mouse over it products fades out and innovation fades in and moves to the top right, like an animation.
I can make an animation so the image fades in.http:[url].... the fade is not smooth. I did this by changing the alpha layer 20% every 5 frames. How can I make the fade smooth?
I have four movie clips with instance names of "purple_ob", "green_ob", "orange_ob" and "blue_ob" and four buttons "purple_but", "green_but", "orange_but" and "blue_but" I want to have the movie clips automatically fade from one to another continually with a 5 second pause inbetween, but then if the user clicks one of the four buttons it will fade the relevant movieclip in. Then if nothing else is pressed the fading will carry on working through the four images in a loop.
So far I have the movie clips fading on a button press but how do I implement the automatic fading from one MC to another?

I'm new to OOP and AS3. I'm doing my company website. When a mouse event sends you to my services page I have 4 separate blocks of text that fade in. So far I have the first 2 texts blocks fading in at the same time. I want to stagger the timing so the second block of text starts its fade in a fraction of a second later, and so on with the remaining text blocks. I'm using Flash CS3, actionscript 2 to build a site in which I would like to have a line of text animation to slide off the screen, but I'm looking for something similar to almost a 'sideways explosion'.... it will be synched to the sound of a golf club swing, and I'm look for some way to get that instant explosion, with the letters plowing through each other and away as they fade off the page....
My client wants so have a loading animation/movie (already created that in Flash CS5) on the website's start page (root, '/' - the first thing you see when you go to domain.tld).When the animation's finished it should forward to another page (i.e. the real page with the content), e.g. domain.tld/somepage.htm I can do this with, for example, getURL() in Flash and it works fine.
But. Is it possible to kind of preload domain.tld/somepage.htm so the content (almost) instantly appears after the loading animation's finished?Also, a fade-out-fade-in effect would be nice, i.e. the loading animation fades out and the content of domain.tld/somepage.htm fades in.
I'm using CS4 (actually the original fla was written in 2004MX) and have a completed frame-by-frame animation which is now in the wrong place on the Stage.
The final animation now only takes up a small part of the original stage, so I want to move the whole thing ( a complicated mixture of frame-by-frame and tweens , 6 layers and 700 frames) up to the top-left corner and then reduce the document to fit.
I have a fairly decent grasp of flash, but not so much of the action script side of things. I need to make a banner similar to the one featured here:[URL]..
As you can see, the image is jerky and juddery when it scales down. From what I can find out, I think I need to use the pixel snapping feature to help make it a smoother fade, but I haven't got a clue how to write the actionscript for it, or where to put the actionscript. Can anyone give me any pointers?
I've been trying to make my somewhat first game, and got stuck. Trying to make the "Enemy UI". You don't need any background info. Enemy is at 100X and 200Y. Make him move to 350X and 50Y. ( in a somewhat animation )
So I was thinking, check if Current X is smaller or bigger than 350, then every frame (or by Time Animation ), do x++ or x-- Accordingly. Same for the Y. Is there a better way to it? Something that will make the animation smoother? A way that's better, can be "upgraded" in the future?
How can i move an animation backward and forward with the movement of the mouse on the x axis? all of the mouse trailers etc move an object which is linked to the mouse. however i don't want my movie clip to move around the screen. I have an animation of a wave form which I've animated to look as if the wave is increasing and decreasing, ie its amplification. I'd like to move this animation with a mouse movement. ie move your mouse to the left and the wave form increases. move your mouse to the right and the wave form decreases.
I have made an attempt. but it is very clunky and the link with the mouse isn't exact. the animation of wave form moves only if the mouse moves to one side or the other. it's not instant, like the infinite menu.
