In my AIR application I am having problems catching dispatched events in my eventmap. The class that is dispatching the events looks like this:

Can I handle an event inside a loaded swf file(using swf loader) using MATE when my main application fires the event ? i want to make a remote service call based on the data i get from the main applications event , and then populate my loaded swf .
View 1 RepliesConsider this scenario we have a class A which is singleton it has a function Sum(a,b) ** . Now we have two classes **Class B and Class C respectively. Both classes (B,C) call add function and listen for a event.

Similarly there is a C and D class. Now when lets say both classes call A's add function (when A is singleton) how does one insure that the right answer is returned to the right listener.
Secondly what if the calls are changing something, is there a locking in singleton?
I have a child swf that dispatches as custom event:

My parent swf is listening for that event.

I have an issue catching a custom event that I am firing. I have a view, let's call it "A" which calls a webservice "B", and when that webservice returns with data it fires a custom event "C". "A" is listening for that custom event but never hears it being broadcast. I have trace() lines in each method of the classes and they all fire in turn except the listener.

From what I understand a framework reduces complexity in areas that are common, like a log-in system. I use ASP.NET MVC at work and have done some work in Zend Framework but do not get how a framework helps with client side development. The reason ASP.NET MVC is used at work is for Unit Testing - does a Flex framework help with this too? why I should or should not use a framework with Flex?
View 4 RepliesI am working on a simple project involving flex 4 and Mate framework. When I am including Mate event map in fx:declarations tag in mxml file, and when I fire up an event, Mate event handlers listen to events and act upon it.
The issue is this, in action script based project, when I instantiate the eventmap class(this is in mxml file only) and keep it in top and fireup an event, instantiated eventmap is not listening to event fired up from action script class.
I'm using Mate's RemoteObjectInvoker to call methods in my FluorineFX based API. However, all requests seem to be sent to the server sequentiality. That is, if I dispatch a group of messages at the same time, the 2nd one isn't sent until the first returns. Is there anyway to change this behavior?

I'm working on a project that has a Main.fla and a Preload.fla. I am doing all the coding in Flash Builder 4. Each time I want to test I have to go to Flash CS5, publish Main.swf and then run Preload.swf. Is there a way to automate this process so I can just press the "Run Main" button inside Flash Builder 4 and all that is done automatically?

View 4 RepliesFor some reason I cannot catch the Ctrl + Z keyDown event in my Flex application when it runs in IE. It works fine in FF/Chrome/Safari.
I have a simple Group control where I listen for keyDown and try implement my own Undo logic. I need to catch Ctrl + Z because any other key combination would feel unnatural to most users.
If you once run an ObjectBuilder the object instantiated will be cached and next time you use an PropertyInjector or something else, the instantiated object will be used instead of creating a new object. Now, the problem , I want to do some action when the mouse_down happened inside the stage, but the mouseup happened outside it. e.g check google finance charts, try dragging the change range divider and then make the drag such that your mouse exists the browser screen, and then do a mouse_up outside the browser, this will trigger some action inside the stage , i.e make the range stick to the position it was, when the mouse exited the window.)
I am new in Flex, and I am trying to retrieve info from an external url's information. So right now I am using a call a url from another server when the user clicks on the link( this brings up the IFrame with the url embeded). If successful (based on arguments sent with the url) then a correct page will load up. But, if unsuccessful, ( i will get a exception error on the webpage embeded on the link i have given) then i need to display a pop up that says error and return back to the previous page. Is there a way to check if i am getting an exception error from the url site i am retrieving?
Is this possible to load the urls info first and if success then load, and if not bring pop up? ** additional note, I am trying to catch a servlet exception http 500. Below is a peice of the code, so when this component is called, by a click button, it puts this IFrame in the view contents with the url, but i want to know if the http status code is recieving 500, or 400 etc. so i can stop this call and load up instead a error popup.

Lately i discovered MATE (for Flex development) and was wondering: how do i bind a property in a view (actually a navigatorcontent component) to another property in a class so that they stay in synchronization (meaning that whenever the property in the class changes the property in the view also changes).
So if we have a view called Target.mxml and a property targertProp how do we bind it to the class called SourceClass with property SourceProp?

I have editable grids which are 2-way binded to my model. What I want is to validate my data when user edits any cell before it get updated in model. I have applied my validation at ItemEditEnd handler, but, I want to apply validation in between itemEditBegin and itemEditEnd events.

If I add a mouse-click event listener to both component(click-listener1) and icon(click-listener2), the event dispatched sequence is click-listener2, then click-listener1. I can understand it. But if I add a custom event to component (listener1), and mouse-click event to icon(listener2), when icon is clicked, the component will dispatch the custom event. In my test, the event dispatched sequence is listener1, then listener2. It doesn't match with event-bubbles rule.
In my opinion The custom event is dispatched in listener2, which triggers listener1. Why event flow sequence is not listener2, listener1?

I am trying to automate the input process so that when a user inputs 3 numbers into the first field, it automatically jumps to the next one. I have the code to do it and it seems as though it should work but, for some reason, when I move focus from one field to the next the data in the previous field is re-arranged so that the last character input becomes the first (610 becomes 061 - for example).Here is my code:

Is it possible to log any and all errors in Flash? The debug player definitely has access to the information when a bug is encounted, is there a way to get that info and send it off in the background?
View 7 RepliesIt's like this: I got this .swf which takes a variable in the url, like: myswf.swf?id=1. I put it on my server and I embed it in a html-file on my server and it works fine. The swf takes the parameter(id) and it uses it correctly. THOUGH.. When I let some other person embed it in a html-file on their own server (you know, like you do with Youtube videos) it seems as if the swf doesn't get the parameter. If I run the html-file locally on my computer and links the <embed> tag to thesite.com/myswf.swf?id=1 it doesn't work neither, though if i link it to the local swf in the same folder it works fine. I don't get it, what's the problem here? Did anyone experience the same thing, and if so, did you solve it? How?

When they're on the last frame it should go to the first frame, and vice versa, if they're dragging in the associated direction.For some reason, there seems to be a minimum speed of mouse movement to go across this point, where it's not present to go between any other pair of slides.Here's the code:

In my workplace we are mantaining a lot of ecommerce websites,some coded better than others. On some of those, sometimes uncaught exceptions are thrown, and showed by the alertbox from the flash player debug (If you have it installed).To rise the average user experience I'd like to report all those exceptions throught a in house tool we already have.Is there a way to catch those exceptions?Maybe the flash player debug exposes them to javascript, or in some other way.
View 2 RepliesI know how to catch usual lowercase letters. I'm using KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN and compare the code to the ASCII table to find out which key was pressed. Now, I also want to be able to find out if there is, for example SHIFT+A pressed, and I have no idea how to implement this. I mean, in my program SHIFT and A are absolutely different keys which have nothing to do with each other, and they both will call KeyboardEvents when pressed. In Georgian alphabet some letters are typed by combination of SHIFT and English letters, for example W on Georgian keyboard means წ, when SIFT+W means áƒ. Absolutely different letters, as you can see. And I want to be able to catch both, coz I'm currently developing Georgian-language game.

When flash_element.submitForm() is called, they POST some data directly to a static url ("/submit"), then depending on the response, reload the browser page.
I would very much like to capture the data that they POST using javascript - preferably without it getting sent at all - so that I can have more intelligent logic to handle to request/response than is built into the .swf files I've inherited.
Basically: When a flash object makes a http request, can I catch and cancel this event in Javascript?
I've been developing in flash for about 5 years now and consider myself a solid intermediate level developer, but I have a gap in my knowledge of events. I don't understand when bubbling events or catching events would be beneficial. I'm guessing there is a very obvious use for them, and being mostly self taught I've probably developed 'work arounds' to solve whatever issue they fix.
I've read the documentation and programmed a few test cases, but either for the interfaces I've developed or for whatever reason I've never ended up using them.
