View 1 RepliesI'm using Alex Uhlmann's flip card class (Distortion Effects). I've got a card that has 3 faces. When the user clicks the button, it fires a change event, and in the main application, the change event calls a function, flipTo, that flips the card. The component is below:

I am trying to have two guestures on a SpriteVisualElement which I thought should be pretty simple implemented: Mouse_Move for sweep Gestures and mouse click to enable.. So I have 2 Eventlisteners on my stage:
[Code]...
The main problem is that every type of sweeping on the screen also fires the taphandler().. how to identify the correct event? I tried to to my taphandler only if(!event.buttondown) but no success.
I would like to send variables or parameters from Component to Main (MXML) Application. Like my component is FileUpload.mxml and would like to forward the uploaded file details from FileUpload.mxml to Main.mxml.
I tried the following procedure :
com:FileUpload id="fp"
to get the reference for the FileUpload component, however, I am unable to get the variables from the FileUpload.mxml file.
Can I make a button, that when I click it the phone makes a call to a certain number, or similarly sends an email to certain address with some pre-populated fields. I need this to work on iOS and Android too.
View 2 RepliesI would like to launch a MapMouseEvent via a combination of keyboard short cuts and a mouse click. This is a portion of what I have, and I am not sure if the logic is correct:[code]I have looked at similar examples on this site but still have not reach any solution. I am hoping that someone who knows FLEX can help me to basically launch a function via a series of Keyboard shortcut. For example: Alt + mouse click, or Shift + mouseclick, or something along those lines. The reason is that a simple mouse click already does something else on the screen.
View 1 RepliesNot sure this exist, but worth asking you all: is there a built in method to compute the distance between the current mouse position and a given component? If not, is there a simple way to build a function like this that works for components with generic shapes?
View 2 RepliesI have a component based on canvas, and within that component I have two images. I have the component listen for a click and when that event occurs one image goes transparent and the other becomes visible. This part works perfect. Now, on clicking that component, I also want to do something to the parent canvas, I already have this working for more basic types (image, canvas, text, etc) but the problem with my component is that the click event has the internal image as the target, so what I want to happen to the outside canvas is happening to the canvas of the component. How do I make my component as a whole the target of any clicks on it?

I have a panel component on my flex application. This component has a click event which is fired when the used makes click on the panel. But I would like to know the zone of the panel where click was made. In fact what I want to know is if click was made on the title bar of the panel.
View 1 RepliesI have defined small MXML component which calls web service which returns random number on request, then my component displays the number.
How do I refresh the MXML from main application control, so it will recall server again?
I have a component that extends UIComponent of Flex, I want to add it a FlexMouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE listener but it does not works. that means I can not capture the event. But when I use PopUpManager to add this component, and then add a FlexMouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE listener, it works fine. Is FlexMouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE only works for pop-up components?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to determine with the help of a mouse event if I'm over a specific component. So right now I have two components, let's say buttonA and buttonB. ButtonA has a listener on it already listening for the mouse out event. ButtonB is flush against the edge of ButtonA. I need to find out the code for it. Here is more details:

I'd like to have a double click event on a datagrid in Flex3. The following example only works if the Accordion (id = "mustBeSecond") container comes after the DataGrid. Why is the order of the components important and what can I do to prevent this behavior? (The example does not work. If you change the order of "mustBeSecond" and gridReportConversions" the example works fine)

I am using event.event.localX to get the x-axis but it is with reference to local coordinates. How can I get or pass the value of the HBox's xAxis that is clicked by the user so that I can add it in the xAxis of the local coordinate. In other words, I need the global coordinate value? (i.e. x-axis & y-axis)
View 1 RepliesI have made a hierarchy in which there is a main page, using add element i have attached a component mxml of type group. There is a single button on main page when clicked it should add children of type group in that group type mxml component along with two buttons. Now using one of buttons i am attaching another component mxml type group. the problem is even they overlap i can still excess the children groups of first group component mxml.
View 2 RepliesI am aware that the follow will show a hand cursor:
component.mouseChildren = true;
component.useHandCursor = true;
component.buttonMode = true;
When I do the above on a List component, the hand button is shown and the whole component loses it's interactivity (Hand cursor is shown even on scrollbars).
So how can I show the hand cursor only when rolling over the list items?
Is it possible (if so how) to find out what word the cursor/mouse is over when it is moving over a < mx:Text > component?So for example as the user moves the mouse along a sentence (inside text component), each word will highlight as they go (I know you can highlight while pressing the mouse button down - but that not how I wish to do it).
View 2 RepliesI am currently working with a drawing tool for a mapping API, and every time I double-click the mouse a map service will perform a measurement and display the length of the line that I am drawing.
I want to mimic this double-click manually by dispatching a MouseEvent.DOUBLE_CLICK, but the map service is not listening to this default Flex event. I suspect that the API has created a custom MapMouseEvent or something like it that is being dispatched when a user double-clicks the mouse.
Is there a way to determine which event is being dispatched when I double-click the mouse?
I am learning Flex and have an image I would like to changed on mouseover, and switch to another state on click.I do not want to use any of the buttons available in Flex.Does anyone know th code to achiev what I want?
View 1 RepliesI've noticed that an "out of the box" HDividedBox has some serious flickering issues when liveDragging is enabled, but only when the pointer is over the contents of the DividedBox while dragging. If you grab the BoxDivider and move the pointer off the component while dragging, the flicker goes away and the component renders properly.
I have tested this with both my customized component and an extremely basic HDividedBox implementation with Group, SkinnableContainer, and BoxContainer children as well as nested groups with clipping.All types of children exhibit the same behavior.
<mx:HDividedBox width="500" height="200" liveDragging="true">

I am using Flex Spark Slider as a time-line for a Flex video player custom component I have created.
I want to prevent the user from clicking on the slider and changing its value, but at the same time I should be able to change the value of the slider programmatically.
Setting the "enabled" property for the slider to "false" doesn't help as then I am not able to change the slider value programmatically.
I have built a Air 2/Flex 4 kiosk application with Flash Builder 4. Currently I am implementing a touch screen browser to enable users to navigate company training videos. In an attempt to improve the usability of the website on the touchscreen I have placed the HTML component in an adaption of Doug McCune's DragScrollingCanvas (updated to use the flex 4 'Scroller' component) to allow users to scroll the webpage by dragging their finger across the screen. The mouseDown event is used to start scrolling the viewport.
In addition the webpage was modified to disable text selection with the following css:
[Code]...
As an alternative I also tried adding a group container with the same dimensions as the HTMLLoader to detect the mouseDown events (so that the group container and HTMLLoader have the same Dragable parent container) and was able to capture mouseDown events and scroll the viewport as expected. However as the mouse event is handled by the group container, I am now unable to navigate the webpage.
So I have that panel or any other mxml component. I want somehow to rotate it around like a wheel of a car with which you drive it... loke a Racing wheel... sow like when mousebutton is down it captures pont of component... when you move mouse component rotates (not moves) according to new mouse position... How to rotate MXML component round its center like a wheel respectfully to mouse?
View 2 RepliesI have prepared a simplified test case for my question. It will run instantly in your Flash Builder if you put the 2 files below into a project.I'm trying to display a List of strings and a confirmation checkbox in a popup:In the real application I dispatch a custom event with the string selected in the list, but in the test code below I just call trace(str);My problem: if I use click event, then the window closes, even if I click at a scrollbar (the !str check below doesn'twhen an item had been selected in previous use). And if I use change event, then the window doesn't close, when I click on the same item as the last time.riting a custom item renderer and having a click event handler for each item seems to be overkill for this case, because I have strings in the list.Test.mxml: (please click myBtn few times - to see my problems with click and change)

View 2 RepliesI have a custom component, containing a List displaying items from an XMLListCollection:
[Code]....
Also if I click twice, only 1 mouse click will cause my custom event to be dispatched (because obviously there is no change between the items). how to make my List only react to mouse clicks? UPDATE: Yes, I've tried using "change" event for the List before, but then I have the problem that it is fired, even if the List scrollbar is clicked.
I just started playing around with as3 and I have a function for mouse clicks that draws a shape on each click. However the mouse click event does not appear to work unless I click a movieClip object I placed in the middle of the screen. Is there a way to make the mouse click event recognize when I click anywhere on the screen?
