Actionscript 3 :: Flex HTMLLoader Component Not Raising MouseDown Events For All Mouse Clicks

I have built a Air 2/Flex 4 kiosk application with Flash Builder 4. Currently I am implementing a touch screen browser to enable users to navigate company training videos. In an attempt to improve the usability of the website on the touchscreen I have placed the HTML component in an adaption of Doug McCune's DragScrollingCanvas (updated to use the flex 4 'Scroller' component) to allow users to scroll the webpage by dragging their finger across the screen. The mouseDown event is used to start scrolling the viewport.
In addition the webpage was modified to disable text selection with the following css:

As an alternative I also tried adding a group container with the same dimensions as the HTMLLoader to detect the mouseDown events (so that the group container and HTMLLoader have the same Dragable parent container) and was able to capture mouseDown events and scroll the viewport as expected. However as the mouse event is handled by the group container, I am now unable to navigate the webpage.
I'm using ActionScript 3 in Flash Professional and I'd like my class to raise an event, not a custom event but an existing one. I've set up my class so that it extends EventDispatcher. In the documentation [URL] the example declares a custom event by adding a static String variable: class CustomDispatcher extends EventDispatcher { public static var ACTION:String = "action";
I assume that enables: dispatcher.addEventListener(CustomDispatcher.ACTION, actionHandler); Or at least auto-complete when you've typed 'dispatcher.addEventListener(' into the Flash Professional IDE.
But lots of classes that raise events raise a mixture of existing noncustom events. For example if you have an instance of a flash.netFileReference and type fileRef.addEventListener(
A long list of potential events to listen for is given including DataEvent.UPLOAD_COMPLETE_DATA, Event.SELECT, HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS, SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, etc.
If I want my class to be registered to raise those existing events, what code do I need? Preferably so that the IDE knows instances of my class may raise the event and suggests them in the addEventListener auto-complete/intellisense list.
and it would work well, but here in Flex 4.5 I don't know how to do this.Also I've noticed that there is a dropShadowVisible="true" attribute, but not sure if/how it can be used for my purposes.And I'm not sure if scaling up/down a custom component is allowed in flex or I probably should use "Flex Effects" (but how?) and also set disableLayout="true"?
I'm building a project that has a character navigate through a room by clicking on the floor. Right now, the walls, character, and floor are all children of the same display object for sorting purposes. My question: is there a way to disable mouse clicks to the walls and character while allowing clicks to the floor? Using mouseChildren appears to be an all or nothing deal and I can't seem to isolate individual floor/wall/character objects for use with mouseEnabled.
I have a series of buttons on a page that I want the user to be able to re-arrange. To do this, I have a MOUSE_DOWN event listener that triggers a startDrag. However, these buttons are also essentially menu items so when user clicks on them, they should load the appropriate URL. I don't want them to act as menu buttons when a user is trying to move them about. I have three event listeners on each button, one for the MOUSE_DOWN and one for the CLICK event and one for MOUSE_UP but the function associated to the CLICK event also fires on the MOUSE_UP.
I am designing a physics container. Don't worry, my question is not about the physics. Here is part of my code. Noticed that I have a SetStyle statement there. I realized that if I don't have that line, the MOUSE_DOWN, MOUSE_UP events won't work. If I do have that line, then those events works fine.

I need a way to disable the mouse over events for a combo box flash component as it is sitting inside a movieclip (A) on the stage, when I mouse over the movie clip I add a glow to a different mc (B) in the movie. Problem is is that the combo box is preventing the mouse over even in A to occur so B is not 'lighting up'.None of this works as it still appears to register a MouseOver event:

The mouse over/click on image should work only on red colored area of the button. How can I manage the Mouse clicks or Irregular Button shapes in Flex?

I don't seem to have sufficient mouseclick events for both. I am avoiding using the right click as it has some default options(whose signing off will affect the whole project- not just this). I have mouse click used for change value- how do I use the doubleclick as the single-click events seems to get invoked prior?
I have written a custom component for drawing a circle in Flex. But When I try to write a click event or mouseDown event for that component, it doesn't work.[code]...
The "Hello" Alert is displayed only at a particular point and guess is, at the point, (175,150) the x, y co-ordinates of the circle. But shouldn't it be displayed wherever I click on the MyCircle component?? how to enable it in that way?
Also the mouseDown function doesn't work for MyCircle,but if have the event for the VBox, the Alerts are displayed.
I created a flex component that hosts several built in (mx) components such as a listbox and combo box. My component relies on external data, and I need to expose events such as ComboBox.enter and List.click to get certain pieces of data.I was wondering if there is any easy way to do this without having to create my own custom event handlers. I have a component that, once it's all ready, I need to set the state based on a variable I'm reading in from XML. I tried doing it with creationComplete, but it's apparently not ready, as the state isn't being set with elements rendering properly, but the states & rendering work fine if I do a subsequent state change with a click action on some element.
What should I do in this situation to make sure the state gets set at the right time & elements that should appear due to includeIn exist so they can be rendered? initialize instead of creationComplete doesn't seem to do the trick for the first time the component is created. Any successive calls to the component are fine.
I'm taking my first stab at writing a custom flex 4 component by extending the UIComponent class. Unfortunately, I cannot get the component to respond to any sort of mouse events.I've tried setting mouseEnabled to true is the component, as well as setting mouseChildren to true in the parent (the stage object). I have a flash file, and I'm making just a simple "ad" with right and left buttons..When you click the right/left arrows I want it to scroll and it basically will alternate between 3 different photos/ad's and thenloop.. I have set up motion tweens on my time lines so when you click it will switch pictures/ads and this is the action script I have and it is still not working? is this correct? what am I doing wrong, maybe something is not labeled?This is just for one button the "right" button It just scrolls through all the motion tweens.. I tired to put a stop(); on the layer the photos are on ndit stops but then when I try and click one of the buttons it will not scroll...

Right now all the sounds (78 of them) on my guitar play using the roll_over event but that doesn't give the user much control over what sound is played.

The problem with this code is that as you drag the object to the right, you will see in the trace that occasionally some random localX values arrive there, resulting in the object jerking from side to side.
I have a base ShapeContainer(UIComponent). I add a uicomponent which has mouse down listener to ShapeContainer. the listener works great. When I add a simple sprite(draw square) on the ShapeContainer, The listener does not work any more. In the code, if I comment below line, The event listener works fine.

1. When I put the mask on container (container.rawchildren.addchildren + container.mask = mask) and the dropshadowfilter on container (container. filters = [glow]), I cannot detect the mouse events.
2. When I put the mask on the promopanel (this.rawchildren.addchildren + this.mask = mask) and the dropshadowfilter on promopanel (this.filters = [glow]), I cannot detect the mouse events.
3. When I put the mask in a component and the filter in another, it does not work either.
4. If I remove the mask OR the filter, it works!! But I need them both...
So, does anyone has an idea on how to make this work? I've been trying to look for issues with filters, masks and mouseevents but haven't found anything that could enlighten this issue.
are being masked by the existence of any popup windows. The code is in a component, in the constructor. The component is added to the main application in the block.
How can I get these system generated events to not get stopped by PopUpManager display objects?
I have made a hierarchy in which there is a main page, using add element i have attached a component mxml of type group. There is a single button on main page when clicked it should add children of type group in that group type mxml component along with two buttons. Now using one of buttons i am attaching another component mxml type group. the problem is even they overlap i can still excess the children groups of first group component mxml.
