Trace A Text If The Mouse Is Pressed (MouseDown) And Is It's On A Movieclip (DragOver,RollOver)?
Apr 5, 2009
I want to trace a text if the mouse is pressed (MouseDown) and is it's on a movieclip (DragOver,RollOver)...can't manage to put all the 3 condition allong for the script to work...
my interface consists of two graphical moviclips: A and B (B is a palette that contains several movieclips). it should work like this:
- click mc A to show mc B (initially hidden).
- while the mouse is still pressed, hover over the various mc:s of mc B. keep track of the mc:s i have hovered over in an array.
- when the mouse button is released, hide mc B.
so... i need to generate somekind of event (like onRollOver) while my mousebutton is pressed. however onRollOver is not fired when the mousebutton is pressed.
How can I make onRollOver work, when the left mouse button is clicked? When mouse button is released than rollOver work's, when I press and rollOver to some object it wont work.
I'll admit that I'm a scripting novice. So I'm having trouble with some onRollOver, nRollOut, and onDragOver in some code of mine. It's an XML driven menu I borrowed from a tutorial. It allows you to drag items into any order. Anyway, I've tried to implement a movieClip that is visible when you RollOver as well as a seperate movieClip that is visible onPress and onDrag. The code may be too ambiguous but maybe not. I'm at my wits end. Starting to thrash code around. What I'm aiming for is movieClip that appears when you rollOver and goes away when you rollOut. And a movieClip that stays visible when you hold and drag the item around.
I have the raster of dots on white background. I would like it when i DragOver EACH DOT it becomes white so it looks like you are actually drawing white line by erasing the dots. Ive somehow found the way how to do it by making it transparent when I rollover.But it doesnt work with dragover. Does anyone knows how to do it only when i hold down the mouse button and drag my mouse over the dots?his is the script assigned to MC with one black dot (I copied this MC with one dot into another MC and multiplied it to have the raster):
this.onRollOver = function () { this._alpha = 0; }
I have the following fla that you can download it.I want to make use also by on handler event for on(dragOver),on(dragOut),on(rollOver),on(rollOut).I don't know how can I use those 4 situations to continue my example.
I am trying to activate a rollOver-function when the mouse rolls over a movieclip inside of a movieclip.On the main window (root), first you rollOver a button where a window shows up with more options (movieclips).From stage, my first movieclip is called "catapultas_read_more" which leads to amother movieclip called "pic1_mc". The label that is going to play when mouse over on pic1_mc is "rollOn".I tried this.gotoAndPlay("rollOn); directly inserted to the movieclip, but the movieclip inside pic1_mc never starts
I posted last week on the topic of getting movieclips to lock into place after you have dragged them in the correct location. Luckily I was able to figure it out by myself, love when that happens.
Anyway, I have a new issue. What I want to do is have a movieclip alpha to 0% when another movieclip is dragged over it. I want to it to happen by 25% each dragOver though. So it starts at 100% then the user drags over and the alpha is at 75% now, then another drag over and 50% etc...
The MC that is being dragged is called ragMC and the one that is alpha'd out is greaseMC.
I've a main movie, for example, this movie has 3 buttons, in each button there's a MovieClip in the Over area, for example button1 contains a MovieClip with some animation, this clip has an Instance name clip1_mc, ok, untill this, everything it's ok, the effect it's easy to achieve, when I rollover my mouse over that button, the clip called clip1_mc starts to play, piece of cake, the problem is this, what happens if I call an extrenal .SWF, this .SWF contains a simple button, when I rollover this button I want to play my clip inside in my button in my main Movie, I cannot do this, I was trying with something like this: on (rollOver) { _parent.clip1_mc.play(); } But this is not working.
I'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven tooI am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?
Basically I need a dynamic text field to be invisible on rollover and when you move your mouse off it, it becomes visible again. I have it working (see code below) however when the cursor is over the field and the cursor moves slightly over the area (still keeping it invisible) the cursor flickers between the normal arrow pointer and the text cursor. Is there a way I can stop this? Is there a better way to do this rollover that would prevent it?
I create a button(MC) and want to duplicate it and easily change the text inside this button... basically I have an mc that acts as a button so inside the mc I have text that I added that animates on mouse rollover. Now I duplicate this mc in the library go into the mc and want to change the text, and when I do, the text in the original button also changes. This happens because the text is a Tween so it's using the same tween from the library for the new button. Is there a quick way to avoid this? I don't see anyway other than typing in the text again in the new button and animating it again.
I have built a Air 2/Flex 4 kiosk application with Flash Builder 4. Currently I am implementing a touch screen browser to enable users to navigate company training videos. In an attempt to improve the usability of the website on the touchscreen I have placed the HTML component in an adaption of Doug McCune's DragScrollingCanvas (updated to use the flex 4 'Scroller' component) to allow users to scroll the webpage by dragging their finger across the screen. The mouseDown event is used to start scrolling the viewport. In addition the webpage was modified to disable text selection with the following css:

As an alternative I also tried adding a group container with the same dimensions as the HTMLLoader to detect the mouseDown events (so that the group container and HTMLLoader have the same Dragable parent container) and was able to capture mouseDown events and scroll the viewport as expected. However as the mouse event is handled by the group container, I am now unable to navigate the webpage.
I have a very simple piece of code but it has one very annoying bug. When I press the button a second time, the code doesn't work. The only way to get the code to work is by moving the mouse a tiny bit, or moving the mouse off the button and back on. make a button that can be clicked many times without moving the mouse?
I'm using actionscript 1.0 and 2.0 on flash Pro 8 and keep getting an error when I test the movie. Here is the error:

I've tried to create this rollover navigation...starting over 6 times already. Is there different language / coding for 1.0 and 2.0? I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
I have an oversized moveclip which i will place on the stage.When flash swf is running, I would like to move the movieclip left, right, up or down when i mousedown. Just like the "MOVE" tool in photoshop.
What i need is a series of pictures on a row that is mouse sensitive, if you move the mouse the gallery move in a loop, (no stop!)[code]This works but i would like to have unblur the last button pressed.I did some tries but i'm not a good programmer...URL...
I've got an issue - When one of my buttons is rolled over, I want text and a movieclip to appear. When the button is no longer rolled over, I want the text and movieclip to disappear. The way that I was going to do this was to have anchor_mc as an anchor, and upon rollover have the movieclip play from inside the anchor (as its at the exact X & Y that its needed at) and dynamic text appear.
On my stage, I have a movieclip, in the movieclip (movieclip A), I have a dynamic text box and {another movieclip with buttons in it} (movieclip B). How do I rollover a button in movieclip B so that the dynamic text box in movieclip A will show a word. For example, I rollover the 'News' button and the text box will show the word 'news' I have tried _root.(variable name) = "News" But it does not work...

1) Is there an alternative way of doing the below, to avoid so many listeners?
2) Can the below functions be merged into one?I've tried merging them into one using IF statements, for example:
if(event.target.name == line1) { line_output.text = "This is a test made by the MonkeyTest that has previously messed up And testing a new line"; gotoAndStop(2); }
However this does not work, and gives an error.
3) I had to get the background to display by moving to the next frame. I could not work out how to get the textbox to appear at a specific XY, or how to get the textbox to disappear after a rollover. Is there a better way to do this, or is what I'm doing acceptable? (NOTE: Textbox is a Movieclip)
I have a parent sprite that contains several child sprites. I have attached mouse click and mouse down event amongst others to the parent sprite. And in the listeners I check which child has been targeted using the "event.target" property. However It seems that the mouse click event does not trigger for some reason. Is it possible that the mouse down event is eating up the click event. Is this a know issue in as3 and is there a possible workaround?
I'm making the transition from AS2 to AS3 and have some rollover and rollout code below. I'm looking to place an if statement into the onClipOver function that can trace what specific button is being pressed. In AS2 I would use the "this" command to see which movieclip was being used. how to properly write the IF statements using AS3 in the code below.
I made a button and want do something when mouse is press, I mean when mouse is pressed that button should do its job. When button release scale of image will increase, now, I want it to do while mouse is pressed.should I use loop or conditional statement?
Is it possible to detect when a user is clicking while simultaneously pressing a button on the keyboard? For instance, if a user presses "a" on the keyboard and then clicks on a specific movie clip, I'd like to trigger an animation.
