in my flex application im retrieving a data from database..... (ie) price as decimal(18,4)...
Now i need to display the retrieved value in an flex text box
textbox name is price.text... obj is object name...
i have used the following in code...it not works...
price.text = obj.Price.toPrecision((18,4));
I just upgraded to flash player 10.1 and there's an issue with a program that I've been working on. I'm copying text from a mysql table that is formatted with spaces and newlines (including spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text) into a textArea in Flex 3.5. Before the update,it worked fine. Now when AS retrieves the text from the table, it does not include the spaces and newlines at the beginning of the text.I'm using xml to retrieve the text.
View 2 RepliesI found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.
I'm playing around with a messaging type of application. Does anyone know how, or of any tutorials on to "appending" html text to text areas in flex and flex mobile projects? And specifically how I could take that and basically "append" a sprite inline to the text when i need to? View 2 RepliesI am still working to fix a FIRED developers code he left us with. The code in question goes out and request information from a database, places it into arrays and also checks session. THis is what I think it should be doing. I am getting a bunch of undefined returns ( prints out in the assigned text fields). Is there a way to make Flash WAIT until all the data has been retrieved from the database. This is out first theory.

The application should load the flashlog file and display the contents after performing some text filtering.But when i load the application this clears my flashlog.txt though my file mode is READ.I can understand that running my air application clears the flashlog and prepares it for new logging. Is there a workaround for this.I dont want to open the flashlog file everytime and check for traces from my web application

What is the best way to display a large amount of text (5000-10000 words) in a Flex mobile app?
I have been loading text in through an xml file using itemrenderer. It works totally fine when I run the application on my PC but when I load it onto my Android phone it crashes. Looks like my phone can only handle loading in about 3000 words using this method without crashing.
Anyone have a suggestion? Also, HTML isn't going to work for me. I want the text built into the application, which is why I have been trying to use the xml file.

[wvxvw? hebrew?] In addtion to the main .swf (.mxml) file there are font libraries loaded that are also in a seperate .swf The text control is subclassed from Flex.Text and in a seperated .AS file. Then to top it, the actual text in cyrillic is coming from an .xml file.I've tried "<?xml version="1.0" encoding='UTF-8' " in the main .mxml file and the xml file. I believe I've put Byte Order Marks (BOM's) for utf-8 in the .AS file and maybe some of the other files. I've compiled everything with specifying the utf-8 encoding as well. I get nothing where the characters are supposed to be.

I'm trying to retrieve that mediator on another page like so:

However, that statement returns null. If I try to cast it using the NavPageMediator(facade.retrieveMediator(NavPageMediator.NAME)) syntax instead, I get a TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert com.website.mvc.view.page::NavPageMediator@237560a1 to com.website.mvc.view.page.NavPageMediator.`
I can't, for the life of me, understand why NavPageMediator@237560a1 would be unable to convert to NavPageMediator, nor what happened in between registering the mediator and retrieving it that caused this. Especially since trace(new NavPageMediator() as NavPageMediator); returns [object NavPageMediator].
Incidentally, and this may be part of my problem, I don't understand what the @hash at the end of the object is (@237560a1). Is it simply an internal identifier for that class instance?
Edit:Left a bit of important info: The SWF in which I instantiate and register the mediator is separate from the SWF in which I try to retrieve it.
I've recently started putting together a Facebook Connect AS3 app and retrieving objects and images through the Graph API.Running anywhere but locally, I receive security errors of the form: SecurityError: Error #2122: Security sandbox violation: Loader.content: xxxx cannot access url...A policy file is required, but the checkPolicyFile flag was not set when this media was loaded.If I add a line of the form:[code]One thing I'd considered was retrieving the crossdomain policy file on a per image basis, capturing the domain from the image URL before making the image request. Unfortunately, at least via the Graph solution (and I haven't looked too closely at the others), their servers resolve the image url after the request is made, from something more generic like: url...Has anyone found a more dependable means of ensuring that images can be retrieved without security sandbox violations? Or do Facebook maintain a definitive list that developers need to keep an eye on?

If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.

I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.

There's a movieclip, lets call it myMovieClip. Inside this movieclip there is a dynamic text box, lets call this one myText. Now to change the text within this text box that is embedded in a movieclip, it's simply:

View 0 RepliesI have a dynamic textfield being populated with an xml files' content. I then have a css stylesheet loaded into format the text. This all works great, but what doesn't work is the ability to bold some of the words in that text. I have both the regular and bold versions of the font embedded into the swf, I can test out just a bold block of text and it works fine. The css is also working as it will change the size of the text that I tell it to. Everything is working, but for some reason I am not able to get the bolder version of the font to display in the same text box as the regular one. I have also tried to change fonts but had the same outcome.
