I use a custom component for painting a graph on a canvas, now when the windows is resized I want to determine the actual width and height of my canvas to resize the graph as well, therefore I used the resize event I can use in mxml.Now I detected in my method for resizing I only receive the width and height of the canvas just before resizing not after. When grabbing an edge of my window and moving it slowly for resizing this does not matter but when maximizing or minimizing the windows, this plays a more important role.
O.K I'm really confused about some resizing behaviour in flex and I'm hoping somebody can explain whats going on to me.I have a container movieclip 3 movieclips deep.MC2 is inside MC1 and MC3 is inside MC2.I have another movieclip that contains a bimap image that is 55 pixels wide and 38 pixels high.When I add this movieclip to MC3 the movieclip becomes 55 pixels wide and "48" pixels high.
I want to do something very similar to the resizing effect on this website. [URL]. Basically if you resize the browser, it seems like it's programmed to only display/load/transition in the images once the user lets go of the mouse and the browser is done moving. I would like to know if there is a Resize on mouse release event or a work around to do this. Currently my images keep refreshing every time you drag/resize the browser screen, before you let go of the mouse. So basically while your dragging the browser window size to different size it keeps reloading and updating the images. I want it to reload and update the images once the user is done dragging and resizing the browser.
I'm trying to figure out how to resize a child canvas but I can't quite figure it out. I have a bunch of mini canvas' around a parent canvas like this:
I have editable grids which are 2-way binded to my model. What I want is to validate my data when user edits any cell before it get updated in model. I have applied my validation at ItemEditEnd handler, but, I want to apply validation in between itemEditBegin and itemEditEnd events.
I have what seems a straighfoward situation: I update the source property of an image, when the image is loaded i want to redraw the border skin to fit the new size of the image.
newImgEdit.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadImgComplete); newImgEdit.source = myurl_ressource; private function loadImgComplete(evt:Event):void {
I hava a custom component and it contains a child icon. If I add a mouse-click event listener to both component(click-listener1) and icon(click-listener2), the event dispatched sequence is click-listener2, then click-listener1. I can understand it. But if I add a custom event to component (listener1), and mouse-click event to icon(listener2), when icon is clicked, the component will dispatch the custom event. In my test, the event dispatched sequence is listener1, then listener2. It doesn't match with event-bubbles rule.
In my opinion The custom event is dispatched in listener2, which triggers listener1. Why event flow sequence is not listener2, listener1?
In component.
icon.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, iconClickHandler); private function iconClickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
I am not simply trying to contain things and have the container resize without the contents resizing. I would just use a simple MovieClip for that.. My main focus is on the use of BitmapFill. I'm trying to make a repeating background image for a container; thus far I'm able to draw my BitmapFill sprite to the size I want. (Which is the stage's height) but when the stage is resized, I want to re-size my container but have my containers BitmapFill crop or add more as the window is resized bigger or smaller. Allow me to illustrate what I mean:
I've got a simple rectangle sprite that fills with a bitmap from the library and a simple resize handler function that detects when the window has been resized.what I would like to do is have my rectangle resize to the height of the stage.stageHeight maintaining its bitmap fill, but not resizing the bitmap fill or any children within the sprite.
From what I've read, this is a little tricky because the sprite resizes in relation to what it contains.. or.. something like that.. I really don't know any more.. I saw one example where a person extended the sprite class but I don't know why or how..
in my library there is an image called 'pattern' and my code looks like this:
I'm loading a few pngs/jpgs externally so they can be swapped out occasionally, and the issue I'm running into is when they are shrunk they become fairly choppy. Is there a way to have flash re-render them, or do something to smooth the resizing as opposed to going in and resizing every file manually myself?
I've got a little problem with BitmapFill, I'm trying to use a sprite as a container for various things and i would like it to have a filled pattern background. my problem is that i want it to resize the sprite to the height of the window but not have the background fill resize, and add more / crop as the window size is changed. to illustrate what i mean, please view the diagram attached to this post .
I have an image in my library called 'pattern' and my code is as follows:
I am working on tabNavigator in flex 3. I have tileList within it. Contents in the tab comes dynamically so I cannot provide explicitly fixed height and width. I need to resize the tabs depending on the contents within it. To resize the tabs I have enabled 'resizeToContent' property of tabNavigator.For some reason it is not resizing as expected. 'resizeToContent' works fine for other child items in tabNavigator but fails when I use tileList as child in tabNavigator that time tileList resizes to its default size(4 rows are only visible). So i was wondering if there any way so that I can force tileList to display all its items without putting scrollbars after its default size.
just by invalidating size on creationComplete ,will that resize all tabs for me. I am having n-number of tabs in tabNavigator as user can add tabs and content within it. how can I achieve this. I am new to flex so just getting confused with its behaviorand struggling with this issue from long time.
I would like to know how I can add maximize and restore functionalities to a Flex TitleWindow. I used something like this <s:Button label="maximize panel" click="Panel1.height = 300;Panel1.width = 300"/> where Panel1 is the id for TitleWindow but there was not effect for it.
how to add buttons on the titlewindow title( so that I can include buttons for maximize and minimize).
I have a container with a vertical layout inside which I have two other child containers "A" and "B". n the first container "A" there is a component that I would like to resize dynamically based on the available display size. To to that I tried listening to the resize event of the main container and do my measures accordingly. That works somewhat until the parent container reaches a clipping size : container "B" gets clipped earlier than "A" because it contains much more stuffs : As soon as the parent container reaches "B"'s clipping size, it does not resize anymore (so no more resize event either) thus preventing me from updating my component's display in "A".
I am trying to display a bytearray as a resized image. The Image is displaying correctly, but the sizing is off. Let me explain.
First I have the image data encoded so I need to decode the image data
// Instantiate decoder var decoder:Base64Decoder = new Base64Decoder(); // Decode image data
[Code]....
This works. The image is displayed correctly. However, if I hardcode the image (img) height the resized image is shown correctly, but within a box with the original image's dimensions.
For example, if the original image has a height of 300px and a width of 200px and the img.height property is set to 75; the resized image with height of 75 is shown correctly. But the resized image is shown in the upper left corner of the img container that is still set to a height of 300px and a width of 200px. Why does it do that? And what is the fix?
The best way to illustrate the problem is by placing the image inside a VBox and show the borders of the VBox. From the code block above, if I change the image height and set the image to maintain aspect ratio (which by default is set to true but I add it here for completeness). the problem becomes clear.
// Display image var img:Image = new Image(); img.height = 75; // Hardcode image height (thumbnail) img.maintainAspectRatio = true;
I'm using an AdvancedDataGrid without the header row (AdvancedDataGrid.showHeaders="false"), my AdvancedDataGrid has 2 columns, where the first one will show a hierarchical data (tree).The tree may be very long and very deep or may contain a long string in the node label so the user will not be able to see the whole vale of the tree node, I want to be able to resize the column using the vertical separator of the gris (the one displayed/separates between columns) or to be able to define a horizontal scroll bar only for the first column.
I want to draw on a Flex AreaChart. This AreaChart has an AnnotationElement that is an CartesianDataCanvas. When I draw some items on this CartesianDataCanvas, the chart looks good when the item fits inside the chart. But when I draw an item that is bigger than the chart, the chart automatically resize and try to fit my item inside the chart. I dont want my chart to resize automatically like that, but rather not showing the item part lay outside the chart.
I have custom flex component inherited from UIComponent (compiled, no source code access). It has fixed width-to-height proportions and it's scalable. If I set its width and height to 100%, it's trying to fit parent's size, but it keeps width-to-height proportion, so if it's proportion does not equal parent's proportion, there can appear empty space near this component when resizing parent.
What I need, is to fit my component completely to parent's size. Is there any nice way to do this? I could listen to parent's resize event, and play with component's scaleX and scaleY
I am using % values for height and width properties of my components, so they would look some what similar in different screen resolutions. But when the aspect ratio changes or on Wide Screen monitors, my components are looking very badly as in not consistent and somewhat stretched.
I am trying to create an AIR app that you can maximize and when you maximize all the components contained in the windowedApplication are scaled with the containing windowedApplication.
At the moment when you maximize the window all the components just stay the same size.
I have a HorizontalList that is resized at runtime. The problem is that the items are not adjusting their height to the height of the HorizontalList. I use an item renderer (vBox) which has its height set to 100%. But the items always stay at their initial size.
When I set the visible property to false for a child in a container, how can I get the container to resize? In the example bellow, when clicking on "Toggle", "containerB" is hidden, but the main container's scrollable area is not resized. (I do not want to scroll through a lot of empty space.)
I have an mxml panel in which I'm using a repeater. The panel can be resized horizontally and I would like for the repeated components to resize together with panel. Here is a simplified example of how things look like:
<mx:TitleWindow xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical" ...> <!-- scripts and some controls --> <mx:VBox width="100%">
I have a component that contains a list that implements a custom renderer. I use this component as a tooltip, keeping one in memory and just altering the databindings as necessary.
Something like this where TTComponent is a class that extends Canvas:
Now, what happens is when data containing many items is set to tt.data, the list resizes itself larger and displays fine. However, after this, if data containing few items is set to tt.data, the component momentarily displays larger than it needs to be, then resizes itself smaller.
What I'd like to do is have the component resize itself before it displays, so I don't see the resize on screen.
I'm trying to Resize a panel using a Resize Effect using its center as the anchor point. I've been googling for some information and the only thing I have found is to set the horizontalCenter and verticalCenter to 0, but this is not working for me. The panel keeps resizing from top/left corner.
I am having trouble using a custom event in flex. I need to dispatch an event from inside two nested components and receive it in the main application file. The basic set up is a main application file importing a custom "gallery" component.
what should i do to get chart's data on the click of respective data Legend. suppose i have array [{id:123, label:sales, year:2010},{id:124, label:refunds, year:2010}]for a column chart which has year in x-axis and sales iny-axis.two legend showing labels sales and refund.What i want is to get the whole data (id:123, label:sales, year:2010) on clicking of the legend 'sales'.What should i do? I tried listening mouse click event and itemClick event.
I am trying to understand event propagation in Flex framework and have a following doubt on it:
Scenario: I have a built-in component DropDownList on change of which I want to create a custom event refreshPreview and want to propagate it to a custom component PictureComponent.
In the custom component's mxml, I have added the Metadata directive as follows to register a refreshPreview event with the compiler
Layout Details: In my main mxml application I have laid out DropDownList and the custom component such that both are siblings (i.e. have a common indirect parent) e.g.
I am seeing that the refreshPreview event is not getting propagated to the custom component.
I doubt this is because the built-in component is a sibling of the target (where the event got generated) and not a parent. how to make refreshPreview event propagate to custom component?
I am developing small application for training purposes. There after click on the button is done, the new panel is added to application, to the button of the application. Once I come across strange problem. The vertical scroll bar never appears.
