Flex :: Flexbuilder - Builder 3 Unclosable Editor Windows
May 4, 2010
See: [URL] Somehow I made this happen and I don't know how to undo it. The image linked above shows my Flex Builder session. The largest section of the window is the editor. Initially, there was a blank window on the screen so I tried closing it, but I couldn't. Then I tried dragging it and realized I could drag it into a corner of itself, hence all the nested windows. I have no idea how to close these windows or simply reset the view. I went to the preferences under General > Perspectives, but the "reset" button was disabled for every available perspective.
Recently I switched to using Flex as an external ActionScript editor for my Flash projects. My problem is this:
I created a symbol called MyBox in the Library, which I don't place on the stage in Flash, just instatiating runtime from Actionscipt. The FLA compiles and everything works ok, my symbol (referenced as MyBox in the Library) appears when I run the project.
But when editing the document class AS code using FlexBuilder, the following line throws an error.
var MyBox1: MyBox = new MyBox(); "Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant"
I guess it is because the FlexBuilder environment do not see the library item reference MyBox) in the FLA. However, I can build run the project from Flash.
How can we let the FlexBuilder environment know about the Library refrences we place in the FLA file?
i am new to flex and need to learn how to use the flex builder 4 IDE is there a step by step tutorial to learn 2ndly i need to know about the following:
event model validation cycle display list List-based controls, item renderers, AdvancedDataGrid, list interfaces
Right now Flexbuilder 3 is my editor of choice for all as3, xml ,js editing. I'm not 100% convinced that I need to upgrade to FlashBuilder. Also early betas seemed a bit sluggish compared to Flexbuilder3. Does anyone who has made the upgrade have any convincing reasons? Was it worth it?
In Flash Builder, for objects, properties, variables and such where your cursor is on it, the editor highlights all instances of that name in the code with a grey box. This can be very distracting and I was wondering if there was a way to turn it off or if there is a hot key to disable it.Another things that is very distracting are the mouse hover popups, although apparently there's no way to disable those :
Am I able to publish a Windows/Macintosh projector from Flash Builder 4? I would like a solution that stays within the IDE, rather than having to open FlashPlayer.exe and export the EXE/App.
My buddy and I are gearing up for a game jam and we're hoping to use Flash to build our project. One possible problem is that he's got a PC laptop, and I've got a MacBook.
What's the status of cross-platform development in Flash? I'd love to be able to drop something into an SVN repo and pull everything down without regard to the OS, but I'm not convinced that will be very smooth. It seems like I can move around ActionScript source and .fla files without too much issue, but Flash Builder projects seem pretty gnarly, e.g. they appear to have references to them outside of the project folder.
Is there an easy way to migrate project data in such a away that we can develop and debug regardless of OS? Maybe version-controlling all the portable content (.as, .fla, raw assets) and the importing into our respective project environments?
I'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. These are the following conditions to replicate it: Issue only happens in Windows (Windows 7, not on Mac) Issue only happens with Reader X installed (not with previous versions) Issue only happens when running the built app, does not happen in debug / development mode from FlashBuilder
I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:
[Code]...
All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below. My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?
var fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference(); private function onClick():void { fileReference = new FileReference(); fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onSelect);
From an Adobe Air application, I need a function to launch the Windows Virtual Keyboard (c:windowssystem32osk.exe). I tried the Native Process, but it didn't work when telling it to execute cmd.exe /C osk.exe. How should I launch the keyboard application from an Adobe Air application?
I m trying to install Flex Builder 3 into Eclipse 3.5.1 as a plugin on Mac 10.6.2.During the installation phase, FB3 says it only support eclipse 3.3 & 3.4. But I started the installation anyway. After the installation was done, I can't find Flex perspective from Eclipse. So I google around and found out the possible way to manually add this link file from folder "links" to point to the FB3 Plugin folder. I did that and FB perspective can be shown now. But when I try to switch to FB perspective, error occurs:[code]
I'm working on a project on Flex AS3.0 project in Flex Builder. It was working fine, I changed the name of one of my classes and all the related process. Now when I compile dubug the thing, it keeps on compiling an older version even if I comment all the code in main. It still compiles the old files. I have cleaned the project , but still the same old problem.
It's growing pains time again. Some of our stuff requires FlashBuilder 4 and some still requires FlexBuilder 3. Both are installed OK, and no projects use both IDEs. The trouble is, when I go back to work on a FlexBuilder 3 project it takes freakin' forever to build and I get weird errors like these: This doesn't seem to cause any identifiable problems except to throw up a modal dialog at various points in the build process, forcing user interaction. But I do notice that memory fills up fast in FB3 and generally FB3 starts behaving strangely and ultimately quits once it gets up over 700MB.
This is only a temporary bridge situation until we get all projects into FB4, but "temporary" could mean weeks if not months. Does anyone have any advice for how to get through this bridge period? Is there anything I can do to make these two IDEs work and play well together? Failing that, does anyone know what "java.lang.String" is the "reason" for the problem? Does Eclipse have a resource bundle somewhere that is getting corrupted when i go back and forth between the two?
is there any documentation on the FlexBuilder "expressions" tab, and what expressions it can accept? As far as I can tell, it can show the value of variables, but that's it: comparisons, function and method calls all fail: [code]this is specific to FB3 Flex Builder. Apparently FB4 Flash Builder is slightly less incompetent.
I am not using FlexBuilder, I'm using the free Flex SDK with TextMate. I'm having some trouble figuring out what this FlexBuilder process actually does behind all the nice dialogs and things, so that I can do the same thing by tweaking whatever the relevant file is, but Googling just points me at similar instructions telling me to use FlexBuilder.
I have a mp4 file which is to be used in an application. Currently i am in the stage of figuring out the technology to be used for this job. I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?
I have created an Adobe AIR application that interfaces with Salesforce.com. The only drawback I have is that the data that is synced to the desktop is not encrypted. I can encrypt a database that I create locally, however, I am trying to encrypt the database that is created and maintained by the flexforforce toolkit.
I am creating an application using flex mobile but could not find how to show alerts using flex.So can anyone please tell how to show the alert in flex mobile , mx alert don't work in this and i could not find an alternative in spark.
I'm trying to set up the swiz framework in flex but cant seem to get it to compile. Im using swiz 0.6.2 and flex 3.0.2. The swc is in the libs directory of my flex project. Im following the tutorial here:[URL] and my code looks like:
[Code]....
when i try to compile i get the error unidentified method loadBeans through a reference with static type Class.
I've noticed that, recently, builds in FlexBuilder have been taking much, much longer than they used to (30 or 40 seconds, as opposed to 3 or 4). What is the simplest way of profiling these builds to figure out what is taking so much time?
