We'd like to have an app autorun when our clients put in our info CD. Is it possible to do this using Adobe AIR... We were thinking of using the Flash Projector cause it compiles to an .exe which is easily launched, but there's no way to get rid of the ugly window chrome is there?
View 3 RepliesI'm working on a project that has a Main.fla and a Preload.fla. I am doing all the coding in Flash Builder 4. Each time I want to test I have to go to Flash CS5, publish Main.swf and then run Preload.swf. Is there a way to automate this process so I can just press the "Run Main" button inside Flash Builder 4 and all that is done automatically?

Ideally, this should be available as a variable so it can be shown when the application or module runs, and should increment whenever I click save or build or debug. I've seen vague references to ANT being able to handle this, but have no clue how to implement that functionality into either Flash or Flex Builder... I'd assume an XML or TXT file somehow gets updated via ANT and would then be compiled into the swf???

I need the ability to drag the window around. I have done a lot of googling and have been unable to come up with anything.
View 1 RepliesIn TFS 2010 build, I have a new build and I want to call an ant script that builds Flash. How do I call the ant script? Also How can I compile the Flash directly? I've seen the Power Tools and this question but it doesn't help me as we don't have TFS 2008. I can't find any documentation on how to use the power tools except the 1 sentence on the bottom of download page saying to create your build the old way and import it (which isn't very helpful). I've installed the power tools on the agent computer but I don't see any new options in the Toolbox when I'm designing the build flow.
View 2 RepliesI just started working with ant a few days ago. Right now I have a general buildall.xml which should call each project's build.xml. Because some projects depend on each other, I need to rebuild some other projects which depend on it. This isn't a problem--I'm just setting the depends property of the target. However, ant is always building the dependencies, even when the files haven't changed.Let's say project1 has no dependencies; project2 depends on project1; project3 depends on project1, 2; project4 depends on project1, 2, and 3; and so on.I could hack a solution which looks at project K, and checks if project 1 .. project K have updated files using uptodate. If so, then run the target. This is messy and appears unnecessary.
What is the cleanest way to implement this?EDIT: So I decided to just hack in a bunch of targets, "check_projectK" where it does the uptodate checks on all of its source files, its build file, and the build files of the 1 .. K-1 projects. Due to dependencies, this is always handled correctly. However, this is still a large amount of copy and paste for a large workspace.
I'm trying to use the Youtube Chromeless Player (the new AS3 version) in a Flex 4-based project. I'm using the examples provided by Google, but I'm not having any luck. The player loads, but it can't be interacted with. I'm receiving repeated security errors just from mousing over the player:

I'm working on a prototype that would require me being able to read and track the mouse movement over a playing youtube video. The basic code to replicate my problem boils down to this simple test case:

Expected behavior is:
Youtube player loads The label on the top right tracks the X coordinate of the mouse The number should update even when moving the mouse over the Youtube player
So far the program behaves as expected when running from the IDE (tested on both FlashDevelop and FlashBuilder) and even when running the file manually from the output folder. But, alas, when I try to run it from anywhere else than the debug folder (be it another location on my computer or up on a webserver), the Youtube player seems to eat the events.
I don't get sandbox security warnings when debugging (thanks to allowDomain("*")) but I'm running out of ideas on why the program fails once you take the file out of the debug folder.

i have questions about the chromeless window components. i figured this may be the best forum for the post.
1. how do i control the size of the "close" button on the top right, and the position (also the minimize button's size and position)? i am trying to use a jpeg that is 80x30, but it is getting smooshed into what looks to be 25x25 pixels. how can i fix this to use whatever size image i want (could i also use an embedded flash file?).
2. how would i make the window's components shift to the bottom of the window (i.e., see www.microbians.com to see what i mean about this part)?

I need a pop up full screen window as I've designed the whole site with the full screen in mind and if I can't get a pop up, I got to redo everything!! I redid it twice and I'm not going to try the third!! OMG!! Anyone has alternative solutions for this? Or anyone has another version of the chromeless script that works with SP1 and SP2?
View 1 RepliesUsing FDT, when I have a debug configuration with several operations in the launcher chain and the final launcher opens in Flash Player, how can I retrieve the build output from the console once the build is complete and Flash player is running?
It seems that once Flash Player has started the console clears to make way for the application's trace output, but I need to be able to look back over the events and build times for each item in my launch chain while Flash Player is running. Is there a setting I can enable to either log my build output to a file or to preserve it in the console?
Edit: I know I can still read the info when building normally, this question is specifically for building with the debugger.

I now need to make custom controls around the player but would like to be able to do that in html/css and control it with js/jquery. While I can find material helping me control the chromeless player directly ( as in solo embedded and not part of another flash app ). My question is that since the chromless player is embedded INSIDE of another flash app ( say test.swf ) can I still access the player in there from js?

But because these mxml files have some shared functions, it's not easy to manage if I separate them.Another question is the size of swf file. The original file size build by Flex builder is about 80KB, but the file size by Maven is about 800KB. Is it normal?

I did a tut from actionscript.org about chromeless windows. It works fine but I would like to launch multiple chromeless windows from one html page. View 1 RepliesI have implemented chromeless player and so far the necessary controls such as play, pause, change video, mute, unmute all appear to work fine through JavaScript. I now need to send the chromeless player to "Full Screen" mode via JavaScript.
The JavaScript API player includes the full screen button but the chromeless player does NOT; infact; the chromeless player is not supposed to contain ANY button. I therefore need to set full screen mode via JavaScript but could not find any documented method for this.

I'm making an interactive film. At certain points within the film, the viewer has the ability to select from a few options that will direct them to an external video clip (they are flashback scenes). The main story pauses when the user selects a flashback scene and I'm clear on how to achieve this.
However, my issue is that once the flashback scene ends and the external video closes, I'm not sure how the main story will resume. Is it possible for it to auto-play (resume) in some way? My last resort would be to have the viewer select a play button - this is only because I do not want a break in the narrative and want to limit the amount of clicks the viewer has to make.
