Feb 9, 2009determine the base class of a Flash library object at runtime, using Actionscript? The toString method gives me the class of the object, but what I'd really like to determine is the superclass of the object. So, if I have an Actionscript class called "Fruit" and I created many different Fruit types in the Flash library ("Cherry", "Apple", etc.), is there a way in code I can determine that an "Apple" is a child of "Fruit"?

Flex :: Manipulate Shapes In Adobe?
Sep 18, 2009I'm working on an application where I'm drawing some rectangles on the screen, and then will need to manipulate the shapes (change their size, location). I tried to do something with .drawRect and clearing the shape each time I was manipulating it, but the RAM usage was spiking and then falling (presumeably because i keep reinitializing a new component and then removing it, and garbage collection was cleaning it out). This seems like its probably not the most efficient way to do it.
Is there a way for me to just create a shape once, and then move it around on a canvas (and change its width and height without all this RAM usage?

Mar 17, 2011What are the inbuilt functions available in flex,actionscript that I can use to find a node with a specific name inside xml variable and what functions could help me manipulate it? Something like Xquery in SQL! I dont want to use for loop everytime I want to manipulate a xml variable. For example, if I want to "cut" node inside this xml and add another attribute to it named enabled pro grammatically. Or how could I find "Find Next" node and delete it?

Flash :: Flex - Manipulate Data Returned From PHP Service In Builder
Mar 12, 2011I'm using the data/services in Flash Builder 4 to access the php functions of a site within an Air based Crud, and figuring out the most efficient ways to work with the data objects that come back.

The data comes back as an associative array, which is fine if I want everything from it to be treated the same. But I'm not sure how I am supposed to pull a particular column from the array without having to go through a for loop to parse through it.. since right now the contact name would be at allContacts[i].name.
Basically I want to make a list of the names from the allContacts, so I want an array of allContacts[i].name to set as the data provider for a element. Is there any way to get that done without having to write a for loop to convert it into a new array or writing a new php function?

Jquery :: Ajax - White Screen Of Death Jquery Load() Html File With Swf?
Apr 19, 2011I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I'm hoping someone has an answer, or at least a tip on how to avoid it.I'm loading a static HTML file into a container via the jQuery load() method. This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present.It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?

Jun 24, 2010I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?

May 3, 2011I'm setting up a page that uses a flash menu to load html pages into a div container by the following call:

The loading works fine, but some of my pages had specific jquery scripts and that's where I've struck out so far. I assumed all I needed to do was transfer the script importations, css stylesheets and the jquery functions to my main document, but it won't work.
I also tried importing the html as a the complete html, which works on it's own, but not when imported into the main document. Most recently I heard I should try shifting the jquery function calls to the end of the loaded document, to after the content, My scripts work, just not when imported, so I suppose my question is how can I make the main- and imported documents play nice with each other? What say you we make this a jump-start tutorial for all us noobs to reference?

Jun 23, 2010I have a component that changes its location based on other elements. I'm trying to find its x and y position at different intervals, so I tried compname.x and compname.y.
The x position seems to be working, but the y position is always 0. I need to play with localToGlobal or contentToGlobal or one of those conversions.
Flex :: Finding Out Where TypeErrors Are Thrown?
Aug 9, 2011Recently I configured my BlazeDS to use Array instead of ArrayCollection for performance reasons. Additionally I adjusted my templates to generate Array properties.Everything wen't fine. All except one function that causes TypeError: Error #1034. These are being thrown before the result callback is called. It claims to have problems casting an ArrayCollection to Array. I removed the generated types to make Flex use Objects instead, but these did not contain any ArrayCollections. My question now is: How can I get the stack-traces of errors thrown in event-handlers? I allready added handlers for unhandledExceptions in all of my modules and they are called if errors occur in code triggered from user-interaction, but they don't seem to be able to catch stuff thrown by event-handlers.How can I track these Errors?

Jquery :: Maintain Spring MVC And GWT - Flex?
Jul 4, 2009I should build a web application for back-office purposes and one of the main requisites is a good UI. On server-side I'll use Java very likely Spring framework, depending on what I'll be using client-side. I think to basically have 3 choices for client-side: a "normal" web application, meaning JSP pages, using JQuery framework. In this case, I will use full Spring's features, complete MVC pattern etc. I've been using Spring and JQuery for 2 years, so I know these techs very well. But I also know that it's quite complicated to realize some effects, much javascript code involved, specially when dealing with ajax calls and dynamic changes of page structure.
Flex with add-ons such as BlazeDs to integrate with Spring. I have no experience using Flex, I just read some articles and tutorial about it, but I really would like to learn something new :-) Google Web Toolkit, maybe with something like gwt-ext. No experience, but I really like to learn. It's plenty of support out there if I need, but I think I will struggle to maintain Spring MVC and GWT in the same project, I read that it's not so easy but there are a couple of patterns to follow.

Once the customization is done, it has to save the output image in 300 dpi for ensuring high quality for printing. We are stuck here and not sure how to save this image in 300 dpi. We can make sure that the source image uploaded for customization is in 300 dpi. But after the customization, we have to save the image in 300 dpi also.
