I just started making some simple banners for web sites. I got a new one to do this morning, and I was asked to make a button that says drag/pull here. as you drag/pull down, it reveals the layer below it. Also, as the button reaches halfway, it needs to go all the way automatically as well, so the users don't have to drag all the way down themselves. Is that something I need to do in actionscript
Why is it that when i have button in a movie clip and that movie clip is a draggable object the button becomes inactive? How can i have both the button and the movie clip draggable and the button continue to function. below is the script i have for the draggable movie clip, which has the button contained within that:
I only started yesterday with no knowledge at all.How do you make draggable items? I looked around and I saw things about actionscript and all that but what do you do?
I have 4 buttons which i have to make them draggable. The problem is that i have 3 conditions
condition #1. Only 1 button/mclip is draggable in its axis [done].
condition #2 .The 4 button/mclip must be dragabble at the same time, that is, when i drag one, the others should drag at the same time in their own axis.

I have in root, two MCs1. MC is my content that a horiztional pan of multi MCs within the "content MC" 2. I have a MC that should function as a button each button linking to example "b3" for which b3 is on _root within "content MC" panel b3.PS. If I simply label the instance of the MC button "b3" this will play _root "content MC to that panel" However, I lose my animation on the button MCBelow is my _root code for (content MC)

I followed Lee's video tutorial titled "ActionScript 3 XML Basics" to create a RSS Reader.It's awesome but I'd like to be able to have a button that uses the links from the XML to go to a site and read the whole story from the feed. If the Text Area component can be used to link to the whole story I'm ok with that too. I just can't figure out what code I need to use. Is this possible at all? I have tried to use the startDrag method for dynamic text field but I still can not drag it. If I converted the dynamic textField into MovieClip symbol then it becomes draggable. But I had to keep it as dynamic textField object because I am also applying formats defined in textFormat object to that textField. If it is converted to MC symbol, then I can no longer apply textFormat. Is there any solution. Basically I want to be able to drag and change its text format for given textField.

I have a Flash project which has about 90% of its code in the first frame, on a layer called 'actions'. the remeainder of the code is attached to several buttons throughout the project. I want to take the code attached to the buttons, and paste it into the first frame, 'actions' layer. what I want to know is how to do it, and still have the buttons function properly. This is in AS2, and will eventually be converted to AS3, when I get all the working code on the first frame. I don't know how to reference it, from the first frame of 'actions' layer.
I'm working on a project where I have cards that need to be moved around and flipped. The cards themselves are on individual movie clips. I originally intended for a double-click to flip the card, and a click-and-drag to movem them around. That just wouldn't work; for some reason the double click wouldn't work even thogh I had doubleClickEnabled set to true. So what I'm currently trying is to have a button that flips the cards within the card movie clip; however that is also not working. Somehow, the button stays in place instead of being moved with the rest of the MC.
I have a text input box with a submit button. When the submit button is clicked, I'd like a draggable MC to be created on the stage that contains the input text.

I have four points which all are dragable. I have a line beeing drawn between the points. Now I wonder if it is possible that when you are ready dragging the points and you have the rectangle you want, to stop dragging and move the whole rectangle. In some way make the drawen rectangle an object where you can get the height and width and coordinates. And move it. Can this be done?
I'm having a heck of a problem with the startDrag function in Flash right now. I'm trying to make a draggable and/or clickable curtain rope, which works now to a certain extent. When the user single clicks on the rope, it opens/closes itself. When a user clicks and drags the rope part of the way, it opens/closes itself the rest of the distance. A user can also click and drag the rope the whole way if they like. Everything does what it is supposed to when a user single clicks. If a user double clicks, the curtain is permanently draggable, which is obviously not what I'm going for.Variable used to determine whether the curtain goes up or down
I'd like to create a bunch of objects which the viewer can move around and, at any time, click on some text [within that object] to go to an external URL. I can get objects to be moved around and can create URL request.I don't know how to combine the moveable object with an external link: for example, a black square with some white text - the whole thing can be moved and the white text is a link [to the web page].
I'm currently trying to make the contents of a window draggable and disabling the scrollbars on it.
This is the code i got to create the window and add the contents to the window. The window creates flawlessly and the contents gets loaded too but i can't get the contents to drag by clicking on the contents itself.

I'm wondering if there is a library that would do so out of the box or do you recommend implementing my own?
So I've done a lot of research on this issue and I understand that buttons don't work when its nested inside a mc that has an event.My project is a map that pans/zooms and when you click on the green triangle next to Lansing, its supposed to pop up a window with information. The wierd thing about it is that it works when I use an onRollover event, but not an onRelease event.The map pan/zoom script was not written by myself btw.

Flash map is the script with the pans/zoom. Flashmap_test is where I made my map with nested buttons.Then Flash Map just calls and brings in Flashmap_test.
I have a draggable button/rectangle that when goes ontop of other objects they are being pushed away depending on the less distance around the rectangle.
