May 28, 2011I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a static mask with dynamic content (as in a picture you can zoom/pan) in ActionScript. I've seen a lot of the opposite (see here), where you have static content (like an image) and a dynamic mask on top that you can manipulate. I would like to do the opposite - have a static mask (set at some size at some area) with dynamic content underneath. So for example, a user could zoom in/drag around some content, and the display size wouldn't change, while the content would move. You could imagine Google Maps being confined to a smaller square and being able to zoom in/manipulate the map through that square, and have whitespace outside of that square.

The content panel will call mxml based on the content sought.
a) how is the frame paradigm- with static frame "containing" other content done. I dont want to repeat the header and footer logic in every 'content section' code?
b) how is the hyperlinking between content sections done- using 'states' seems convoluted

May 16, 2009I have recently had a new computer, and I run my own website containing various Flash animations. I have had to reinstall all my software packages onto my new machine incl. Dreamweaver and my FTP program. I've just uploaded my website, but none of the Flash content is able to be viewed online. It works perfectly when viewed via Dreamweaver, but is just not visible on the Net, as if something is blocking it. All other Flash websites, apart from mine are working fine.

Feb 26, 2012Currently, the facebook plugin is displayed briefly before the flash starts loading then it disappears after the page is loaded. What do I need to do for the plugin to display on the webpage in order to look like it is part of the flash site?[url]...
The green background of the facebook plugin and position is just temp for testing purposes until I can get this page to display properly.

Feb 16, 2009just wanted to get some second opinions on something before I dive into a project.I would like to use the same effect executed in this website: http:[url]....how to go about doing that. I have a few ideas but am quite intermediate when it comes to code, so I was trying to search for some help topics and tutorials that might spark something.But I can't figure out what this sort of method is called! Where all the content slides like that as you click on different parts of the navigation.
* I should add that I am more proficient in AS2 but wouldn't mind learning how to do this in AS3.

Jul 17, 2009I am currently designing a website for a fiend and would like to make the content of the website tabbed. What I mean by this is I would like the visitors to click on a tab (e.g. Contact) and the tab would slide out with the appropriate information inside. Okay so that part is easy, the problem I am having is that when one tab slides out all of the tabs on layers below the contact layer get covered up. I would still like for all of the other tabs to be visible. I would like for all of the tabs to slide out as if they were behind all of the other tabs.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Website Timeline And Buttons Can't Be Aimed At The Content.
Sep 27, 2009so I'm having an issue with my website design and as I'm relatively new to flash I can't seem to fix it on my own. I know what I'm supposed to do, technically, but not sure how to actually implement it.Below is a picture of my timeline:What my problem is that the buttons for navigating my pages (bio, news, projects, links, etc.) are nested inside of my Navigation MC (on the Navigation layer) and so they appear in the timeline (at frame 20) before my content does (frame 70). Because of this, the buttons can't be aimed at the content because their code is run before the content even exists.
I'm guessing that what I need to do is to instantiate my content at a point in the timeline before the navigation/buttons occur... but as the content is the last part of my loading animation, I'm not sure how to do that.I read something about adding the MC's but keeping them invisible, then making them visible again at teh appropriate time, but I don't know how to do that or if it would somehow mess with my animation (everything fades in one item after the other, with the content being the last part).

Jan 6, 2010Ok, so I have a bit of a mess here (Which I'm probably not doing right anyway, which could be my problem...). I have a document class, I'll call it as Body.as, that creates an object from another class known as Headgear.as. There are also other objects created from other classes, or will be in the future. Now, amoung all this, Headgear.as and all of the other classes Body.as will use to make objects require the use of dragging functions (starting and stopping dragging). On stopping drags, position checks are then made to compare a particular hidden movieclip with the dragged MC.
To try and save myself some hassle (from making the same functions over and over to ensuring that when the objects are created I don't need to send a complete crapload of variables just to ensure the position checking function would work), I had the functions for the event listeners (Which are set-up on the draggable MCs in Headgear.as) just direct to functions in Body.as

Nov 22, 2009Alright, so I have a class that is linked (via the linkage panel) to a scrollbox class. I'll paste the class here:[code]Ignoring the formatting, the commented out functions are the ones causing the issue. Adobe says that it's a static class and I can't use non-static functions. The way I wanted to use it was:
1. Call the page button generating function above.
2. In the main code in my program is this line:scrollbox.setClickFunction(historyContent.generate Page);So when the buttons that are supposed to be generated are clicked, the scrollbox class can call the History pages generatePage function and pass it which page to show. (I did this because there was a lot of text and a limit on how much would display, so small chunks sounded logical).
3. In the onClick function (which I haven't finished yet because the rest wont work), when you click one of the buttons it calls the set function. Its that simple.

Aug 15, 2009I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.
