Jun 9, 2010I recently started using Mac OS X for a flex/actionscript project and having a problem with flash player debugger plugin for the browsers:
OSX: 10.6.3 Browsers I tried: firefox, safari and chrome Flashplayer debug "Flash Player 10 Plugin content debugger (Intel-based Macs)
Whenever I open a page containing a flash content, my browser crashes due to flash player plugin's crash.
I checked the version of my flash player debug plugin with [URL]
and as the version checker is written in flash, my browser crashes a few seconds later.
I am using version 10,0,42,2 (debug edition: yes)
This is what I see in the crash log:

Jul 8, 2010It's with a Flash overlay that has been custom made to overlap a .flv video running in Flowplayer (open source video player at flowplayer.org) The Flash overlay is mostly transparent and just includes a few buttons over top the video to allow visitors to share, email and visit a related website. The video and Flash buttons work fine when videos are played within Flowplayer at normal size in the browser, but when making it fullscreen using Flowplayer, the Flash overlay plugin does not resize to fullscreen with it. Then, when made regular size again it gets distorted, as you can see from the example.
I know it might involve creating a custom onResize() function, but I haven't figured this out yet with Flowplayer. There are vague instructions & snippets of code here under "Layout management" section on flowplayer . org/documentation/developer/writing-flash-plugins.html

Interesting, but doesn't tell me much of what to do. I have a feeling it might involve making a new .as class in Flash and associating it to the custom buttons overlay .swf. On the right track?
get the overlay to resize using onResize and what code should be used would be very helpful. Others may be also trying to make custom overlay plugins too, and the fullscreen issue would be the next step to know after that and make it look more complete.

Oct 16, 2011Im the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:

Flash :: Plugin In WebView On Mac Different From Plugin In Safari?
Mar 10, 2012an answer here opening swf files using WebKit framework says the following about running SWF movies inside WebView inside Cocoa application: "because the Flash plug-in is not garbage-collection supported, the plug-in won't work if your application uses garbage collection".
Meanwhile, an answer here Flash AS3 animation in Mac vs Windows discusses Flash garbage collection on Mac (likely in Safari) and says that it sucks but it does exist.
So is the first claim about no garbage collection in WebView false or is the WebView plugin distinct from Safari plugin?

Sep 4, 2009I am rather new to Flash but have been in software/web development for more than 20 years.I have a project which I have to provide specs on which entails updating over 5000 SWF files from Flash 6 to Flash 9 on about 1000 classroom PCs that do not have internet connectivity.
Currently, I am simply just trying to setup one test machine but I can't seem to find the Flash 9 plugin to download and install. All I seem to find, even with a google search is Flash 10. someone direct me to where I can download the Flash 9 plugin and how to install it on my test machine?
I own Flash CS3 Pro so if there is some way to just copy components from it to the target machine,

Flash :: Get A Physics Engine Like Nape Working?
Jan 9, 2011Introduction: I think Nape is a relatively new engine so some of you may not know it. It's supposedly faster than box2d and I like that there is decent documentation. I am decent at AS3's basic functionality, but every time I try to implement some kind of engine or framework I can't even seem to get it to work. Sep 28, 2011I'm looking at creating a game which involves many bouncing balls on the screen, and the user can sortof select one of those balls and take it out... The balls should be able to bounce of eachother and the walls. I've tried implementing this from scratch, following the tutorials at [URL] - but it's not quite working for me, and if I need the game to become more complicated- probably best to use an existing engine. So is there an existing engine that will work very fast and well for this sort of thing? At a glance- it didn't seem like box2d or flixel would work for this... but what do you say?
