I'm using loadMovie("folder/file.swf", "_root.host"); to load the first swf file into a blank movieclip named 'host'.When I try using the same code it loads the other swf file, it just closes the first one.I want to have it as more of a popup that can be closed without affecting the original swf file

However, the newly loaded movie clip also needs to allow the user to load another movie into the main movie effectively swapping the first movie clip with the second. This needs to be done without using the main menu.

Now I am trying to load another XML files corresponding to each link. That is, if clicked on Link1, flash movie should load XML File 1, Link2 should load XML File 2 and so on.

its like this, i have a main swf, lets call it "loader_swf", inside the loader_swf i create a movie clip called "holder_mc" which loads an external swf, lets call it "ex_swf". The ex_swf has a movie clip in frame 2 which is the main animation of ex_swf. Is it possible to get the current frame number of the movie clip holding the animation on frame 2? the only thing i know is to get the current frame of main timeline of ex_swf.
I am new flash developer, and inherited a project which has 4 fla project files. When it runs inside a browser, it appears "window" which occupies whole browser. This project is write in Flash CS3. I have few questions:
1). When loading main swf file, 3 other swf files are also loaded. These swf files are communicating with each other through message. When debug the mail swf with CS3, I can set breakpoint and the program can stop only at limited AS files. My questions is how to debug other AS files in other swf file?
2) I used CS5. It seems that I can stop at more AS files, which does not belong to main swf file. Why?
My questions is should I use CS5, which might makes debugging easier? Is it right direction to go to debug multiple swf? (For CS5, I need to fix some code in order to make the program fully working as CS3)
3) What's best tool to use for such project since CS3 is very old. Should I use Flash builder, Flex. Amethyst?
I'd like to create a flashing LOADING symbol that appears before a swf file is loaded, but there seems to be a problem with my code.The error 1180:call to undefined method fader is given for the highlighted, but this was code i followed from a tutorial.Once the LOADING symbol has hovered on screen for a few seconds, id like it to fade out and display the swf on the index page, of which this code is within.

Problem that I want to share with you is that I have two external swf. One is swf generated by Flex IDE and second one is generated by Flash IDE. When I load flex swf, loading progress output is not showing until the whole file is loaded. This problem is not presented when I load flash swf as you can see on this testing page 90.157.198.254/test/test.php.

I have a number of menu buttons (home, about, contact, etc). Each button loads a new/different movieclip onto the scene. Each movieclip when loaded plays up to frame 25 and stops. When I click on any of the menu buttons, I want the current/loaded movieclip to continue playing until it reaches the end of the clip before loading the next. I tried this actionscript with no luck!

I have successfully loaded an external swf file into my own one. now what i want is to change the size of the loaded file.
the loaded file is an image and its height:500 and width:500 but what i want is to resize it to 200x200

I've downloaded the swf-file and the fla-file and there's three as-files used in those files. The file (fla) show that it use an external class (one of the as-files) and I think the problem is this class also affect the main-movie.
I may be wrong, but if I'm not.. how do I go around this?
I'm currently used to have the as written inside the swf/fla-files and sometimes including them, but not as a class.

I have some xml text loaded to my flash site and i want to have a link in this text that when clicked loads a comment form that is in a different frame in the timeline. View 0 RepliesI have a MovieClip which is just a progress bar animation with about 100 frames. Then I load a zip file using a URLStreamLoader and subscribe to the ProgressEvent.PROGRESS event. After loading starts I receive notifications correctly and I set the bar's corresponding frame using gotoAndStop(). Everything seems to work fine except for the animation not being visually updated.
It seems that the scene won't refresh until the zip file is fully loaded.

Ok but it had the navigatetoURL function but I took it out. Reason is because I want these buttons to load in a movieclip (mc_loader) as external swf files. I am not sure as is to linking these buttons to the loader movieclip.
how to load photos from a XML file into flash. I have a movieclip (called PhotoMC) that has two layers, bottom layer is a square(is a graphic). Top layer is a blank MovieClip where I would like to place the image loaded from XML. I'm trying to have the movie clip(PhotoMC) load for each jpg in my xml. I'm loading an external swf that is a button to close other loaded movies. I want it to stay above all the other movies at all times so that the user has a way to close them and go back to the main stage. There are buttons on the stage that load external movies and the close button movie loads automatically. All of the movies load in fine but once I load in a movie from a dynamically created movieclip button on the stage, it covers up the close button movie.The following code is where I dynamically load movies from the dynamic movieclip buttons and then after that is where I load in the external swf for the close button.

View 1 RepliesI'm loading an image into a blank_mc within a movieclip called 'background_mc' using the MovieClipLoader object; when the onLoadInit for the MovieClipLoader object is fired, i then attempt to clone my 'backgound_mc' object and the loaded image it contains so i can do something with it (i,e a funky masky/blur thing, not important right now)I'm successfully loading my image into the blank clip within background_mc, the onLoadInit behaviour fires and duplicates background_mc once the image has been loaded, but in a disappointing turn of events, my clone of background_mc no longer has an image attached, and has instead reverted back to it's original form, just as ti was before it had the jpeg image loaded in.
